  • Visibility on Someone Else's Terms: Is It Worth It? | Identity and Acceptance
How often do we shape our identities based on the expectations and validations of others? In this insightful video, we explore the profound impact of living for someone else's approval on our sense of self and overall acceptance. From social media pressures to personal relationships and professional environments, the quest for external validation can often overshadow our true identity.
The question we need to ask ourselves: Is it worth becoming visible, if we only are allowed to show certain aspects of ourselves? Are these the kind of people we want to become visible to?
Let’s explore navigating the complexities of becoming visible and feeling truly seen in world driven by external approval.
I’d love to hear about your personal experiences with visibility on someone else’s terms and how they have shaped you.

Yes, this kind of 'funding' always makes me mad. And I tried to 'adjust' my work.- as I am a naturally curious person (and I find interesting points in everything), but often the flow is much better when it's your original idea.

Being a naturally curious person is for sure a huge advantage. 😀 Who knows how many original ideas got killed off, because of this kind of 'funding'...

Recently watched a bio on Gotye. "Wally" would mess around with live tracks and many audio samples to compose things at his parents' home. He spent some time after they sold the house moving from place to place working odd jobs and making songs on the side. Then one day, he hit it big with a sleeper hit. It all blew up for him - Doors opened wide.. Yet he decided to lay low (for now) .. "I decided it made more sense to focus on creative things and not get hung up on money and lawyers and courts." This I assume he meant the 40% or so royalties he paid back for the samples he used. He even turned off CZcams ads. Curious story ~~> Seems like he just wants to make stuff and not be bothered.

I loved his song 'Somebody I used to know' is that the one you're referring to? I will watch the bio, sounds very intriguing. So has he completely withdrawn now or is he still sharing his stuff?
