most comedians sweat when the audience is silent, but bill burr knows he's terrifying them for the first few minutes, setting them up for the kill. 😂
I think part of it too is that he KNOWS what he's doing is funny. He's like I know you guys are scared to laugh because your wife is sitting next to you or whatever and he just doesn't let up. He trusts his material and himself even when the audience is "afraid" to laugh. He knows that's why they're not laughing, not because his shit isn't good.
@@djjazzyjeff1232 What's more, he knows that he's right. A lot of what he says is over the top, because obviously it's comedy, but he's making jokes out of the things people are too uncomfortable to say. It's particularly funny because most of it is true.
The whole concept of alimony barely makes sense to me. I can understand that in a bad marriage you'd want to protect the victimized party by ensuring they're financially stable after marriage, but alimony goes on for quite a while and it doesn't make sense that your ex should have to support you for as long as they have to just because your marriage fell through and you have to adjust to a new lifestyle.
Lots of people have to adjust to a different lifestyle after a life-changing event. Doesn't mean they're owed a constant stream of cash for it. Lower your standards of living a bit, you don't need thousands of dollars every month to get by. Just stop eating out every fucking day at expensive restaurants and nail salons and drop your fucking gym membership. You don't need to live in a four-bedroom, three-bathroom house by the coast just because you had something like that in your marriage. You're divorced now. You only need one bedroom at most, unless you had kids, because it's unlikely you're getting married again anytime soon (unless you're that kind of person...).
But Bill Burr's not the only comedian that makes jokes out of reality. I just think he's one of those guys who loves being on the unpopular "did he just say that" side and works it really well into not just a joke, but an argument. He's good at making people laugh with topics that people would usually rather avoid.

Naaah kobe’s wife stood by that guy when he was going through a rape case and she could’ve cleaned him clean in court. Remember even if he is innocent of the crime he still cheated on her. A disgraced kobe going through a criminal case would’ve been easy picking. That automatically removes the whole gold dogger accusation. He cheated on her a second time and she could’ve cleaned him out but still decided to stay with him. She’s delusional not a gold digger.

I agree with you kinda. My favs in order go - Dave Chappelle, Louis C.K., Bill Burr, Eddie Murphy [because I’m old and still remember how he made laugh hysterically], Jimmy Carr [most of us Americans don’t know about him] and TheOfficeBlokes don’t react to him because, I’m sure, they’ve already seen everything by him. He’s that funny, and doesn’t give a sh*t. But there are tons of great comics still out there that push boundaries, even in this PC/Woke world. I can’t list them all. Simply because I’m done typing [1finger pecking].
@@frankiek2269 There are plenty of great comedians I agree, you mentioned some of my other favs, but if I had to bring it down to top 3 I would always choose Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle and Patrice O'Neal...idk there is something about these three and how they construct their stories that makes it compelling to me on a basic level.

When he was still alive, very few comedians could compete with Patrice O'Neal. Bill Burr and Patrice came up together and maybe give him a try. Blokes, you must, must ,must watch Bill Burr’s special Paper Tiger. It is close to a masterpiece. He tells long, winding stories with a lot of his signature “reenactments”. But as he starts winding up towards the ultimate conclusion you see that it’s all been building to a beautiful thesis which is expertly executed. It may not be the best thing for a reaction video because it’s a full special but it’s only an hour long so perfect for an evening at home and, like I said, I must watch for any Bill Burr fan.

The best comedians have an innate ability to humanize every joke they tell. Burr and Chappelle are two of the best at this. It's not so dissimilar from a writer like say, Stephen King, that uses topical references in their novels to put you into the zone where you are visualizing what is happening in any given moment. You guys are great. Love seeing our friends across the Atlantic (no, it's certainly not a "pond", lol) react to what are some very American references.
Bill took ultimate advantage of this in several bits when he did his special in Royal Albert Hall. Jolly good mic stand indeed!

Bill Burr is fucking amazing. For me, he is tied for the top spot with Dave Chapelle. Every living comedian, including burr, idolizes Chapelle. Burr even said that Chapelle once told him he is funny and that really motivated him. You should definitely check him out. A good place to start would be his bit about the LGBTQ community in a car

He's referencing the pink ribbons and other paraphernalia in October I believe it is for breast cancer awareness .... the NFL and other major leagues tend to wear pink for the whole month somewhere on their uniforms. It's a bright PINK ribbon or something included within the entire leagues uniforms, fields/arenas, etc.

Jim also does the Chip Chipperson Podacast, (not a misspelling). You may remember Chip from the O&A days before Anthony got fired from Sirius XM.
