Nice to get a pick that wasn’t a reach.. that’s 2 years now with a good 1st round pick. Let’s hope the pats keep this up. Draft best available players in positions of need in the first 3-4 rounds always. You can gamble rounds 5-7.

Amazing pick! Now do it right and build a team around him, it’s nice that we have what’ll happen when you don’t do that, it’ll turn into another Mac Jones situation. Make the development right on Drake Maye.
Mac jones development is mostly on himself. He was under 4 different OCs at his time in college. So there's no excuse not to learn the offense as well as he could have even under the former DC. What he needed to stop doing was stop forcing those deep passes especially since that was an issue of his that he never corrected among blasting through his check downs. Outside of that, the main issue was O-line collapsing as fast as they did.
I would take the Aiuyuk deal and trade up for our solid LT-no matter what.

Because next year doesn't have as many good QBs in the draft. Also, it's not guaranteed that the Patriots would get one. Now they have time to build the team around him.
Build a team before getting a QB is backwards. Pats need a work in progress QB that can step in when the team is ready.

@@WLJ1287 the only reason I wouldn’t have taken JJ at Michigan would be to give the young man a fair shot at carving out his own identity. As a Michigan Qb Coming into where Brady a Michigan Qb himself played…it would’ve been a tough shoe to fill. But who better to root for than a guy representing Brady’s Alma Matter that won the National Title. Brady would’ve mentored this kid. Oh well 😂. Almost made sense for a second there in New England.

What a stupid move. This franchise has become a joke. This was the best draft position the Patriots have had since the late 90s, and they waste it on a QB who’s going to be a backup within 5 years. There’s no excuse for this BS, passing on a generational WR when the team NEEDS to rebuild. Instead they grab a mediocre QB knowing they have nothing to surround him with. They learned nothing by wasting that draft pick on Mac Jones. I’m done watching Patriots football until Maye is cut or traded. I won’t support this delusional franchise as they intentionally hinder their own ability to compete. They could have gotten Marvin Harrison Jr. and continued to tank while having a pro bowl caliber WR on a rookie contract, built the Oline and then drafted a QB in 2-3 years AFTER the roster was rebuilt. Instead they waste a top 5 pick on a project QB that might not even work out when their roster is full of holes.
Everyone talks about his 2023 drop off being because of a coaching change but didn't they bring in Clyde Christensen to work with him as a QB coach? This will turn out worse than Mac Jones.

Ladd McConkey is a change of direction type of WR the opposite of what Maye needs.
You need to sit him for a year. Do Brady and Mahomes mean nothing to desperate NFL franchises? Sitting for a year makes for a better QB, in the short and long run.
Maye needs time to develop properly. The QBs need to workout professionally, learn the book, the offense, and understand coverages.
Favre, Rogers, and Love are examples.

Besides a chosen few; if you're a starting level QB out of college, the usual successful ones tend to sit and actually develop vs. being thrown into the wolves first go.
I expect a trade to happen either with players or picks the next few days, I figured they'd get their guy before starting to grab the pieces around him.
Some WR play better with certain styles of QBs, and now we can begin the build
