My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I get frustrated too, my German Shepherd is a rescue and was never taught anything and he’s ready one! Sometimes I get really discouraged cuz I think maybe it’s too late to teach but he’s very smart and zack helps me too!
All the same principles apply, I would think. Just get really excited, lots of treats or toys, etc. :) I would probably start at a lot closer distance rather than across the kitchen first though. So maybe like only a couple steps at first. And maybe start just playing with the toy or food and rewarding for coming without the word first then introducing the word later once they're doing the actual behavior fairly reliably. You'd be surprised though how quickly they come even if they've never done it - dogs, especially puppies, love to play and love food so as long as you have those things and are really dramatic and overexcited, they should want to come to you. You could try clapping your hands or the ground too, all kinds of things really - the "crazier" you look, the better because then they'll be like "omg what are you doing, lady?" and want to come investigate - which you can then reward. At least those are my ideas on it - hope it helped :)

Try in the backyard next, then out the front of home, then down your street and back home.. then empty car park on 30 foot lead, getting these areas close to home building them up to a dog park.. it is like Disneyland for dogs so the hardest to listen..
I've never actually done drills on "come" with my dog, I just do it randomly throughout the day, when I'm at the park, on a walk, etc. I think it helps him understand that he needs to come where I ask whenever I ask. I try to call him to me before he sees a distraction. Then I show him the distraction but I keep rewarding him whenever he is looking at the distraction and staying with me at the same time.

My cousin has a pitbull, and that pitbull was chasing a rabbit, a thing that impressed me, is that when my cousin called his name, he immediately stoped and walked over to my cousin, I was so shocked. Recently I got a puppy, and I'm training him as much as possible, and this video helped a lot, sometimes it gets to distracted and doesn't listen to me, but each day we are getting better and better.
I got my new puppy last year and someone suggest me your chanel for his training. When he become 5month puppy I totally give up on his training because he didn't learn anything. But I never leave watching your videos . In one video you said that never give up on your puppy . Then I startover and I train my puppy by my heart and by your help. Cooked chicken treats. They will come. Use long line training rope if you’re outside. They WILL LEARN IT. Has to be fun or a reward. I have. 7 year old German shepherd with awesome manners and know how!

One thing I do is make grabbing the dog's collar as part of the command. They only get the treat when your hand is in the collar. I would start with a long lead so they can't just run off and make it a game.

I’ve just adopted a 8 month old husky he’s very high energy when I take him for walks and take him off the lead he does not in any way listen he just goes free I’ve tried taking a treat along and calling him using that but it doesn’t work he follows commands like sit paw and getting there with lie down any advice for this?
I’ve had huskies and I’m sorry but you really won’t have any luck with them off leash. I’ve raised three and no matter what’s I did they never returned. They are runners, you really have to keep them on a leash. If you want them to have more freedom, purchase a 50 foot lead and use that at a park. That can also assist in recall training! Zac has a video on Inertia using a long lead!
ruthlessbleedem wow! Did they go to school? I have a german shepherd now and she has good recall, but she has high prey drive. She keeps me in sight at all times, but if she’s chasing a squirrel or bird she doesn’t come back. I wish I could just let her chase the animals but I don’t want the animal or her to get injured!

Dogs don't know if they are a pedigree or a mutt. Each one is an individual with different needs/personalities. All dog lives matter, grin! All dogs can be wonderful IF you work on communication. That doesn't mean only words it means routine, and unconditional love, no confusion, loud words, no frustration or anger EVER! Unconditional love...it is your job to help your dog to understand and please you and be part of a family. I am amazed so many think there are 'good' dogs or 'bad' dogs. So wrong! Any dog is a 'good' dog. Not everyone should be a dog owner or trainer. Takes a certain attitude and commitment not all humans are capable of doing or learning.

My rescued Chihuahua Dexter has just started NOT TO COME WHEN CALLED. It's like he is teasing me....awful as I am a senior and quite disabled and running after him causes me great pain. I have had him three years and hexes two when I got him. In every other way GE us perfect. So frustrating but watching these videos may help. I truly adore him. I would luv to find out what they say. Mine are 2 and 5. I too am afraid that theat they will get run over. I don't let them run but my female slipped her collar. When I was trying to get her she'd look at me and go the opposite way. Ran for an hour.

Just tried this with our 1.5 year old Frenchie. He was so motivated by this, and so happy! Hopefully he continues to learn!

Dogs don't know if they are a pedigree or a mutt. Each one is an individual with different needs/personalities. All dog lives matter, grin! All dogs can be wonderful IF you work on communication. That doesn't mean only words it means routine, and unconditional love, no confusion, loud words, no frustration or anger EVER! Unconditional love...it is your job to help your dog to understand and please you and be part of a family. I am amazed so many think there are 'good' dogs or 'bad' dogs. So wrong! Any dog is a 'good' dog. Not everyone should be a dog owner or trainer. Takes a certain attitude and commitment not all humans are capable of doing or learning.

Corgi Cheeto pup IS so cute...but my mini dachshund is the cutest puppy in the world! Thank you for your training trips! At 4 months old, I'm working on the biting AND come ALL the time when called. Mostly MaggieMae comes, but outside in our backyard birds and chipmunks rule her attention and she won't come.
My rescued Chihuahua Dexter has just started NOT TO COME WHEN CALLED. It's like he is teasing me....awful as I am a senior and quite disabled and running after him causes me great pain. I have had him three years and hexes two when I got him. In every other way GE us perfect. So frustrating but watching these videos may help. I truly adore him. I would luv to find out what they say. Mine are 2 and 5. I too am afraid that theat they will get run over. I don't let them run but my female slipped her collar. When I was trying to get her she'd look at me and go the opposite way. Ran for an hour.
