I ride a Honda Shadow VT600, 2000 model. Bought it in 2007 with 4,000 miles on it. Sometimes people call it a "starter bike," or a "beginner motorcycle," as here.
I always laugh. Over the past fourteen years, now, I've ridden that motorcycle to 150,300 miles. I've been from SC to California twice, north to Canada, south to Key West, into the midwest, and to major beaches on the east coast countless times. In other words, I've ridden my little 600 coast to coast and border to border.
I've never trailered the bike anywhere. I ride it there. I've never owned another motorcycle. I'm now 71. This summer I'll be riding from Murphy to Manteo, NC, and touring the state of Kentucky. Who knows about next year.

@@jackwoods535 Only a few miles on the Pacific Coast Highway between LA and San Fran. There wasn't a great place to mount the camera, and where I mounted it caused it to suffer a bit from vibration. I want someone to invent a windshield mount, something I can position just below eye level.
Dude calm down. The term "begginer" doesnt mean youre a begginer forever. It means, the bike is controllable and predictable, therefore ideal for begginers, all the way to the most advanced riders.

I'm 72 and have been riding since I was 15. I have had several different shadows and have loved everyone of them. I like the shadow because it is heavy enough not to be twitchy but light enough to be manageable. It isn't as fast as some bikes but it is quicker than traffic. I'm 5'5" tall and can easily flat foot this bike

The shadow is ridiculous, I’ve dropped it, I’ve hit a minivan at 35, it’s been dumped riding in the rain, it’s held up through all of it it’s great. And just cause it’s a 750 doesn’t mean you have to use it all. Just ride your own ride

That's how I feel about my 1200. It's there but you don't need it at all. Just have good clutch control and even if you whiskey throttle it you should be just fine
I’m a beginner and just purchased a 2005 Shadow. Haven’t driven a bike in 22yrs. Always wanted this bike, even back in the 90s. Good to finally hear someone say that it’s a good beginner bike. Even better to own my dream machine.
Just bought my first bike, a 2004 Shadow Sabre 1100. I honestly can't see getting another one right now. Smooth ride, easy to work on and didn't kill me on price. I am having a ball on it.
It's an excellent bike for old retired guys as well, I have a Shadow Aero and it's now my forever bike, I love it
I bought mine 21 years ago. Still looks good and runs great. Only 1 repair. The starter switch. If I had stored in inside it probably wouldn’t have had the issue. The odometer button went out a couple of years ago. Unable to switch to trip milage. So I have to remember the milage when I fill up. Oh and one accident. An oncoming suv turned left right in front of me. Bent the forks slightly but took it to the Honda dealer and they straightened it back out. Replaced the stock pipes with side cuts. It looks and sounds like a Harley sportster. This is better than a beginner bike, it’s a great bike for life.

Just got an 02 Shadow Spirit 1100, first bike! Love it!
I went from riding an 1100 Shadow for 15 years to a 750 Shadow for a second bike I got cheap and it was like riding a mini bike, so light and small. Now I have the 1300 VTX and that's perfect for me. Hondas are great bikes, much like Suzukis, Yamahas, and Kawasakis.
started on 07 gsxr 600, went to 750. cbr 1000, zx1400r, r1, road glide special, vtx 1800f3, and bought my wife a 06 shadow spirit 750 to learn on. i ride it ALLL the time, great, fun, reliable bike. LOVE IT. not only for beggininers great bike for a second bike or for anyone whos ridden all kinds of bikes and wants to get to the root of the fun. the value per dollar is just amazing. ill always have one.

Been thinking about getting started biking and there are always a ton of these on sale nearby to me for cheap. It seems like a great starter bike and a good bike in general and I believe it will be what I go with!

Just bought the phantom it’s awesome and my first bike.
I had been considering a Rebel but a friend had an 07 Shadow Aero that had 2400 miles on it. She wanted to sell to a friend. I'm really happy with it. Not exactly my beginner bike since I'd had an 85 KZ550 for a few months. But I like it so much I don't think I'll trade up.
I started out on a yamaha v star 650 I got it New in 2005 I still have it i put 35.890 miles on it no probs but I need to upgrade i agree with you 💯 on honda shadow 750 are super great bike 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇲

@@HemiLyfestyle they had to replace the rear fairing after lady rear ended me. It was missing the left blinker and one of the tail pipes also got damaged from the drop. Fortunately, no injuries but I was pretty sad for 2 months. I have it back now though.

I have seen black and white, but this color is dope. I love yellow color on a motorcycle. I am debating on getting this for my first cruiser. I am graduating the sport bike. I was debating if i can spend less money on a v-star 250 or rebel 300, spending less than $5500. But this one is really attractive.
i switch over from a goldwing all dressed to a vt1100 ace I cant tell the difference in weights when you are a rider from childhood no matter what you ride you adapt in the first 100 meters
I'm a beginner rider. I own a 2003 shadow sprit 750DC. So far I like it's handling.
I'd like to throw in a special mention for Yamaha vstar line, shaft drive makes for some low maintenance fun.

Bought anAero 750 two years agoandcant up grade cos I don't want to part with it, a perfect bike.
First bike and I still ride it even though I’ve outgrown it. 99 Honda shadow vlx 600.. only thing I don’t like is that it’s so light if I had to abruptly stop the bike will fishtail. (Yes I use both brakes) don’t know if it’s like that with all bikes though
Now we have winter, the season is over, but I really want to ride my Spirit 750 of 2002 as well.
My first bike was a sportster 883. If I had it to do over again the shadow would have been better. Way to cramped and small on the sportster. Shadow has a fat tank and just looks and feels like a bigger bike. And honestly the Kawasaki 900 would have been my best choice
They’ve been on the market for more than 20 years so accessories are plentiful. If you want bags, seats, windscreens, heated grips and on and on, you can find them. Easy to ride and able to go anywhere.

Actually, I am looking at this in reverse. Might add it to our bikes as a easy-to-use solo bike. Our big bike can be a pain to ride around . Great on the road, but less fun solo.

I just got my license on friday and my first bike is vt750 honda shadow ace -1998, love it so far
its a fantastic bike the low center of gravity means you can steer it with just your hips( not recomended). Ive gone over speed bumps no handed ( not recomended). Its got enough acceleration to keep up with a pack even if they are a race reps just about. Its extremly comfortable i used mine from work and back for 15yrs. wipe of the snow starts streight up. The wide back tyre has saved my ass more times than i can mension. Due oil on the roads where it would slip to the side and bite again a smaller wheel would of ran out of tread. The only hinderence for me was on long journeys the vibration in the hands would cause numbness. One of the best bikes ive ever had and the best buy i ever had

Just got a 2012 spirit 750 for my first. Feels and runs great. I was thinking about doing a yellow paint job on it too.
I'm definitely looking into a honda shadow, they cheap on the market and I'm sure since it's a honda it's cheap to maintain

It may run great, but it "feels" great because you don't know anything else. It's your first bike. You're too green to know what's good or bad or what you like or don't like by comparison. You look young though. You'll figure that out in life. We've all been there. My first car, first bike, first guitar, hell even my first love. Firsts can be special because there your first introduction. But it's only when you get out there and try different things that you find out what's truly for you.
I just picked up an '85 VT500 for my first bike.
After I spend probably the whole winter fixing it up, I'm excited to take it for a rip.

I hear a lot of "great beginner bike". So do you recommend it to an intermediate to advanced rider who wants to chuck on a set of pipes and enjoy the sound? Power and speed isn't something i'm big on anymore, however my fear is that if i buy one i would need more power eventually. I test rode the vulcan 900 custom however i didn't feel the power was thay much different due to it being heavier. Finding it hard to pick one of the 2.
I have a chance to get a 1999 Shadow 750 for cheap, it has around 19000 miles but I heard Hondas run forever. Would be my first ever motorcycle.

I bought one of these yesterday, and took it out for the first long ride today. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER BIKE.
I've been driving a motorcycle for 15 years... my first assessment is thats it's big, it's weird, it's pretty, and it's dangerous. Like riding on top of a locomotive. A Road King or Road Glide supersized level bike. Not a beginner bike. I'm keeping it, but only because I'm an experienced rider. Get a classic Honda Rebel 250 as your first bike. Not the new one. The old one, that is very flickable and light weight.

I'm looking towards my first bike to be a Honda Shadow aero or even a Honda Shadow phantom that's why I want I want everything to do with motorcycles. My dad and I started getting into it my dad used to ride but got an accident years ago when he was in his early twenties and hasn't ridden in a long time but ended up getting his thrive back into wanting to do it and I started thinking about motorcycles and didn't realize that the same time my dad was thinking about it too and then we mentioned it to each other and we're getting our motorcycle license this year Just have to wait for this stupid Corona virus to stop canceling it yeah but that's why I'm looking into I've been hearing a lot of good reviews about the shadow aero and Shadow phantom and I have my eyes on the Kawasaki Vulcan s but I've been hearing and seeing a lot of great reviews on the shadows the Hondas and I don't want no torque wrenching maintenance constantly but when you stated that to me that's what I'm looking for in this video and I will look towards checking all that out for myself I want to get a brand new one and they're cheap that's why I like about it

I have had Kawasaki, Suzuki Harley and I now own two Honda Shadows . Both 1100's 2001 Sabre and 2000 Spirit .
At almost 50 I have no want or need to be doing over 100 miles an hour .
The only problem I have with the Shadow line is parts availability at least OEM Style .
And the aftermarket parts are slim picking and poor quality . Nut that is an unfortunate reality for most metrics.
The shadows are great. But stay with the 750cc and down 5-speed models. And definitely stay away from the big engines that have only a single crank pin and shake like Harleys. Oh yeah and some of those are four speeds. That's just dumb, to cripple the transmission to act more like a Harley.
I never thought the 750 was a beginner bike. Ya, a 300 yes. I bought my 03 ACE in 2002. I have 64k on it after 20 years.

This motorcycle would of been so much better if it was a straight air cooled twin and lost the radiator, and added or kept the fuel injection.
They didn't switch to fuel injection until the 2012 model... and there's very few used one of those out there to find for sale.
I love my straight twin air cooled Hondas. I'm not even sure how you'd change the rear drum brakes on the shaft drive version. I would be like, WTF am I suppose to do to replace these?
The gas tank is kind of an illusion, because there's a big airbox going up the center of it. Anyway, I wouldn't pay more than 2000 tops for this bog standard bike.
Probably the worst thing about this bike is the rear foot pegs are located way up high, meaning as the driver you can't move your legs every now and then back and forth between the front and back pegs to keep from cramping. You're stuck with the front pegs and that's it. If your feet go looking for non existant rear pegs during a ride like mine being use to them being there, you're libel to hit dead air or worse hit the ground with your foot and run over your toe. In fact, I'd rather have my feet on some rear pegs once I get going on a long stretch and don't have to shift or brake. Makes it a lot easier to stand up when going over a bump too.

Im 5'4 and ride a 2012 Shadow Aero 750. I can flat foot on both sides when stopped comfortably. And reach the handle bars without stretching.
