This is so tragic. I grew up across the street from Maxim and he was one of my childhood friends. He was never the nicest nor behaved kid/teen but knowing him as a child and seeing that this is where life has taken him breaks my heart. I hope his family is able to see this video and get him some help. I wish nothing but for him to find the strength to get sober. I am grateful for this channel and this interview, it can help so many people and bring light to those who are uneducated when it comes to drug addiction. Thinking of you Maxim.

      You’re not dumb.
When people that are doing drugs/ addicted to them, you won’t know until they start getting messy and making mistakes. Or when shit starts going down because troubles starts to follow you around when using meth.
And, there’s no better liar than a drug addict.
It’s not your fault, it’s not your doing. Sadly, it was your friend’s. You weren’t to know, especially if you weren’t involved in the drug scene that he was.
After a while you’re not talking or dealing with your friend as you knew them. After a while, you’re only talking to the drug. I hope you are getting some help with your grief/pain from losing your friend and I hope you are ok.
And if you’re not, that’s ok too. Sometimes we all need a little help with our problems in life. Take care and be kind to yourself.

One of the hardest things I’ve ever done in life was drag my then 28 year old son out of a heroin addiction in Dallas texas, and he was nowhere near as far gone as maxim. I am forever the optimist but this guy won’t make it much longer. His parents need to take control and help him. You can’t leave your kid in this shape and call yourself a parent. I’ve been in the trenches for mine and I would do it again. He can’t do this on his own, he’s like a two year old at this point. Wtf is wrong with this country, this world, this place in time? As a people we cannot turn our backs on this, even if it seems like the only thing we can do it is NOT. We must give without expectation, love without judgment, offer hope in the most hopeless situations. Otherwise we will drown in our mistakes.

I’m glad you were able to help your son, but some families cannot support the continued relapses, stealing, fraud, conning, and emotional turmoil. My brother has been an active addict for over a decade, and my family is a shell of what it once was. My mother died while my brother was still using, and her greatest wish on her death bed was his sobriety and he cared not. I used to have empathy for him and his situation, but he is a manipulative person. Addiction is a disease, but some people are just bad people and sometimes you can’t do anything to help someone because it is literally their underlying character traits. Judging other families on what they are willing to continue to suffer through is not the way. Again, happy you were able to help your son, but other families cannot continue to drown to save the one drowning family member that doesn’t want to be saved.

@@velandrea Thank you for a very interesting quote from The Bible.
There were several things that stood out to me.
The most important thing is that I didn't know that someone had the balls to speak of God like that.
The person is kibf of making fun of God.
He's covering his eyes, so he can't see what I'm doing wrong.
Or want see what I'm doing wrong. So I can pray on people and do whatever I want to.
Who is this guy who openly ridicules God like that?
That's exactly how I feel by the way.
If there is a God, he's doing a shitty job.
And he have to have put on a shield or something that prevents him from seeing what's going on.
I can't imagine the chaos and total devastating of this earth and the people living here could be continue if God was awake and knew everything going on.
But that's my opinion and I'm absolutely not trying to make fun or be mean. I'm just so disappointed and helpless because I don't understand why all of this is happening because people don't deserve it.
And I'm talking about everything as a whole, like earth quakes, the wars, the epidemic, hunger, school shootings, babies being molested and abused. Everything.
It's a hell hole. That's what it is. With no one taking action. That's why I'm disappointed.

I saw this before in my own life. I didn't understand at first this a person that's on something. Sadly I found out. My son's starting using and my oldest took things to this level. I remember him passing out and I held him and felt his heart beating so fast thru his chest. It reminded me of the ultrasound they give you when you get to hear the baby's heartbeat, fast like a race horse. Sadly, right before he agreed to get help and go to treatment, he overdosed and fentanyl was in the mix. I'll never forget the person he was at his heart, and how the drugs stole a brilliant mind. As much as I miss him every day, he isn't on the streets or homeless. He's not being abused or in a dangerous situation. He's with me, in many rooms, and everywhere I travel I leave a part of him. I hope my other son stays clean, but the pull of addiction is so very strong. I hope Maxim stays safe and is never hurt, and gets help.

Can’t make broad statements like that. I’ve been doing meth for 20+ years and never stolen a thing. It’s never changed my INTEGRITY. Might as well make a blanket statement about ethnic groups while you’re at it? 🤔🤔

Breaks my heart to see this. You can see so many tough emotions in those moments of silence. Maxim has a lot in common with the people I work with. Before I started working in this industry, I never viewed drug use as something caused by trauma, loss, grief and unfulfilled needs. Like many people in my generation, we were taught that drug is a life decision and we demonised people who use drugs, but in fact, not all of them choose to continue living in such a lifestyle. Some never choose to do so, as I lately found out, some parents even supplied drugs to their kids from a young age. And there are huge differences between people who are addicted to drugs but have people who support them and care about them to people who are all by themselves. Some may choose to do it for fun, but most who stayed used it as a way to cope with life, and when it's no longer about enjoyment, it becomes a way to meet daily needs, Mental Health and Drug use are just inseparable.

How do you know? Several people who really know him can attest he was not a nice person. People aren't "beautiful, kind" soul simply by virtue of being in the grip of addiction.

this is NOT TRUE! your brain can still recover from meth- spreading disinformation like this just discouraging addicts from trying to get clean bc they think it’s already too late for them. It does take a long time but your brain does regenerate and recover from meth. Long term physical damage is definitely more highly likely but people can regain a lot of mental function with the hard work of staying sober, and everyone’s recovery journey is going to look different, just like with any substance. No hate, just wanted to share this for anyone who may be struggling so they don’t feel discouraged ❤

Event tho he's high, he's definitely holding back his emotions on those questions, of have you ever been in love, or do you have friends. I can see he's really trying to hold back

    • @bluesadvocate5397
      @bluesadvocate5397 Před 11 měsíci +7

I don't observe him as holding back emptions. I don't think he can put a cohesive thought into a sentence because his thought process is so splintered and fragmented. He also exhibits thought-blocking, incongruent smiling, poverty of thought and speech, involuntary motor activity (gesturing, posturing grimacing), and appears to respond to internal stimuli (hallucinations). It's difficult to get a true sense of his emotional state with the drug-induced symptoms (and likely psychosis) exhibited here. As a seasoned professional in mental health + addiction treatment, this was difficult to watch.
