This is what I would want in an old truck. Plus it’s extending the life of older vehicles.
This is absolutely awesome I've been saying for years we need a modern chassis under an old body.
You could just buy a brand new chevy truck and swap your old truck body on it for less than this costs
@@nick-dm3if not gonna just swap right on lol
Love the idea the chassis is standardized with proven OEM parts. Nice and simple. Amazing job!
I’m super impressed. If you guys can do the multiple lengths people will want (there are tons more long bed 4x4 trucks out there) it will be the next big thing in truck world.
I would do this for the OBS and obviously older trucks. Great job as always RS
I agree, I would totally go for that chassis in a long bed configuration. I love long bed box chevys.
A long bed or a crew cab version would be amazing, and i wonder if a duramax would bolt into the frame also 🤔
The pricetag though...its easy to make great works of art when you don't keep the consumer's pocket in mind.
Yah for 85 to 100k bucks im sure it will be the next big thing 🙄
I agree,I own a 74 C-20 2-Wheel drive,454/400,Super Cheyenne/Longhorn package,what do those rollers go for with the LS-4? $50K
Saw this chassis at SEMA. It’s a fantastic setup but for some of us, the $100k price tag will mean it’s going to be years of saving before we can afford one.
Hopefully the production will lower that price, I fully understand the price tag though, between engineering R&D and basically being an OEM level manufacturer in the construction and custom part implementation/creation... Honestly they must be expecting to move a fairly decent number of these to be able to offer a starting price that low and stay viable... Hopefully the wealthy guys will buy plenty to lower the price for us plebs! 😉👍
@@berryreading4809 I dont understand the pricetag. Production volume isnt going to fix this. They're not going to be pumping 10's of thousands out per year to get some good amortization of tooling costs. It's a silly company and a silly plan meant to sell chassis to other companies who need to make SEMA show trucks.
Try NEVER afford it. 🤦♂️
for that kind of money, they can keep that crap!
I have a 79 C20 and 88 K5 as well as a 2020 fully loaded 2500hd duramax. I paid $68k for the 2020 totaling less than $80k with tags, licensing, extended warranty, and what I paid in interest for 15 months with dragging out paying it off. I was going to pay cash but bought 3 months before I had all the funds. While I loved driving my square bodies, my body issues and middle age really like the modern quiet and comfortable new truck with 18k towing capacity with the duramax that gets 20 mpg unloaded in the san Diego area. The setup in the video is perfect for people with deep pockets and a love for old trucks, but it isn't budget friendly for the average person.
Saw this at SEMA and was very impressed. Nice work guys
I recently bought a 78 C10 short wheel base down here in Australia and this is exactly the route I want to go in, ultimate daily driver!
You should offer the chassis without a engine, trans and transfercase so people can add their own to help on price.
That is a sweet ride guy's love it . Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy
Please please do this for bumpside fords with a coyote!!! This is exactly what the aftermarket was missing. Great work
This is what we need with all the old cars and trucks 💯💯💯🙌
Super good idea making up to a really nice project love the fact having one like this 😀
I cant wait to see something like this for a mid 70s to 80s Ford Bronco! or trucks even, This Setup is even impressive!
Yeah, imagine not getting beat to death by the old twin I-beam.
Checkin' all the boxes for me! Love it! I'd have one in a heartbeat! (pun intended).
Living on a ranch in Arizona we have lots of old 4X4s Broncos Landcruisers you know want the best thing about a 69 Ford F-250 truck is? It has nothing modern in it, we wash it out with a garden hose. But if you really don’t need four wheel drive you wouldn’t know
I found a 86 C10 that had a 70s style trailing arm coil spring rearend in it that was great.
F yes! This is the start of something HUGE. Think big!
You rock guys with your products 😎
A dream. Super cool, brilliant. So bad I live too far to get one
As a guy who owns a Squarebody, the existing truck is damn near perfect. I have no issues with the frame or it's ability to drive/haul reasonable amounts daily.
Mine is LS swapped (LM7/4L60E), has some minor upgrades (Borgeson box, Bilstein shocks, all new moog bits.), but unlike some of my old GM iron, like my '63 Impala Vert, or my C1/C3, that needed a new frame (especially that X-Frame, thank you Schwartz Performance), Squares drive really well. No, it's not my W212, but it's a truck. Not a sportscar. It's taken me cross country many times. Comfortably.
I saw this at SEMA and thought cool... For the guy building a six-figure show truck. My biz partner and I both thought it was nifty, but...
The beauty of a square is that they drive really, really well. Unlike my old work/shop truck, a '53 Chevy.
Great set up , will eventually get one myself !
Nice, what do you do for a living?
Looking forward to see what combinations are come up with. Chevy, Dodge, Ford, AMC/Jeep, short bed, long bed, cab options, drive trains. Lots of variables that could be addressed. Only question I have is will the average household be able to afford something like this, or will it only be some dude making 250k a year.
love this!! My BF and I have an old 77 square body that we would love to convert to something like this for another camping/overlanding rig!
My neighbor is taking one of those down to the frame, detailing everything, and building it back
I love the truck they put on top of it... I ❤️ my old Chevy Trucks.
I gotta admit, it is cool, however the nuances and pain in the asses are part of the beauty of these old trucks/cars. Less than thirty years ago almost everyone could drive a stick and tune a carb. Now, most can't drive a standard and good luck finding an old guy that can properly tune a carb and set a idle arm. These vehicles were daily drivers for years until about a decade ago when we slowly forgot how to maintain our cars.
Said as my daily driver is a Chevy Sub K2500 with 454 and my weekend car is a 78 Z28. My brother's daily is a 85 K10 350SBC, and my dad's daily is 73 K20 with 454.
This is really cool ya'll! Best part of using the old body/interior is the smell!
Very cool build, modern driveability, reliability and safety (speaking of safety, come on guys, where your seat belts)
Absolutely fantastic!!!
Wish I didn't get rid of my 84 K5 blazer. Something like this would have been perfect for it 👍🏻
Awesome!!! Very exciting!!!
Be great to see something like this for the OBS GM trucks (88-98)
It's basically an obs chassis just has an lt engine in it lol
🤦this is a 88-98 suspension under a 73-80.
Awesome, something to consider for my 94 burban when time comes though by then maybe an evolution/better chassis
Oh I would love to see some thing like this done for the mid 80s square body ram trucks I have a 86 short bed ram I would love to do this to
Hi guys,
Oooh man... I'm literally drooling on my screen right now! That's exactly what I've been wanting! I understand that you haven't started yet, because I've been trying to put an order in through emails. I'm not getting any response. Let me know if there is pre-order or waiting list i need to get on.
Thanks
I've got a few old Squarebody's daily driving a Ls swapped 82 Gmc c10 Shortbed. Just installed a "new" steering column. Searched for 5months to find a good matching column only to have the same problem. It'll turn on the power but not engage the starter so push button start it'll be 😂 I'll figure it out later
Neutral safety switch
It’s about damn time!
I daily a long wheelbase 74 k10 on 35s. Some would probably consider it high maintenance but it’s dead reliable just have to replace worn parts occasionally. Not much I can’t/haven’t rebuilt in my driveway over the years. I’d be so spoiled with one of these beauty’s.
Guys you guys are the best in fabricating a frame , would you all consider building a frame for the Suzuki samurai , short wheel base and the long wheel base .
I’m 27 years old. I drive a 78 C10 Bonanza. I have been looking for something like this. Something that has more power than what I’ve got. Running a Holley 4150 on it. Before my C10 I had a 87 K20 Scottsdale. Had power. Drove it from WA to MO no problem. I’d buy this chassis. Come out with it!
Man to have a rugged ol square body heavy Chevy damn nice truck
man i would love one of these for my 90 dodge ram d150
If this new rolling chassis system extends out to the 3/4 and 1 ton line of CKs, I have an old project truck that would *definitely* benefit from this.
These trucks are bad ass,I've owned a few 😎✌
👍👍👍
I really like this concept
That is an Awesome idea!!!!
When y’all build one for obs crew cab dually let me know that’s what I want for Christmas
I would love this for my truck
May also consider body-on-frame passenger cars like the GM B-body, the Chrysler M-Body, and the Ford Panther platform. Can you imagine how much fun a sleeper Hellcat Dodge Diplomat would be?
This is my vision for my 73 K5
That was a great for power sliding....
You guys are so cute with your matching Rolex's.
I'd love to see something similar for a square body Suburban, but I'm fond of my archaic 6.2L Detroit.
Pair up with Dynacorn, and have them build an extended cab. More room for stuff! Lol. Plus a brand new cab wouldn't hurt anything!
Had an 86 K Blazer that you simply couldn't get stuck in snow with the proper tires. A ride smooth as a Town Car. I wish I still had it.
I had an 86 blazer also and I don’t know if it’s the way the wheelbase is and the weights distributed but you can’t get them stuck in the snow or the mud. They’re awesome.
1971 CHEVY CHEYEENE? (LONG W/B). WELL DONE GUYS!! THANKS JOE
I can't wait C10 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿🥰
perfect garage mate for that 79 Camaro...
Something like this for 1971-1996 G vans would be mind blowing. Frame not needed, there’s no separate frame there🤷♂️
Awesome!!!!
Very cool!
Lol.. I drive my 86 Chevy CUCV M1008 quite often. Although not a daily, I do drive it for work when possible
Buckle up Boys!!!!😮
You guys thinking of any 3+3 square body chassis? Maybe even a GM diesel under the hood?
Thus is so cool everything I want for my 85 stepside, but I priced a frame with the lt1 and all the options 94212.00 😳😫😫 guess I'll just keep dreaming till I win the lottery
Badass!!!
I hope you guys are successful.
Checked prices. I'll stick with the OG stuff. Way outside of a blue collar worker's budget.
It’s very cool no doubt, but price is always the biggest problem with something like this, it’s never within reach of the blue collar guy that made these trucks popular.
Why ruin the best part about an old truck with all this unneeded complexity anyway. When i drive old stuff i want the full experience. If i wanted my square body to feel like an 01 chevy id just get one of those.
This dream home run truck first truck 94 Chevy s10 long bed if know about this omg wish still had truck or this truck ❤❤❤. Looking sponsor as well
Is there an 8ft bed configuration?
This is so very cool. Gotta go wipe the drool off the keyboard now.
I've got a 74 suburban... come get measurements for that length! It's two wheel drive, but would be awesome.
Nice watches, gentleman.
I want one !!!
Will there be a wheelbase for a crew cab short bed for custom builds?
Why crew cab truck with short bed is not getting used as a truck
@@pmotorsports8276 perhaps as a 5th wheel trailer pull unit?
They make shortbed extra cab factory model k10
@@pmotorsports8276 My short bed crew cab get used as a truck. It hauls a slide in camper while towing a 24 ft. trailer.
Those are so rare now it's probably not worth the effort for their company.
Need this for my 85 gmc
This is amazing , please build a setup for an F100. I have a '62 F250 Unibody and this would be perfect. Don't even care is a chevy drivetrain.
Right at 8:11, what are those called on the bumper? I have an 83 K10 and the holes are there for those guards so I want to find them and put them on.
I’d love to see something for a dent side Ford. It would be awesome to ditch the over-sprung rear end and twin I beams and be able to have something that, like you guys said, I can drive every day and use like a modern vehicle. I wouldn’t even ask for a ford power train. Keep it simple and use the same proven package, but just tweak dimensions to suit fords, dodges, jeeps, etc.
Can you guys rebuild my '96 Chevy K1500 w/ a 5.0L (305), 5speed...? Still runs daily, but she needs a new heart!!
I want one of this setups for my "96" 4x4 Suburban
I want something like this for my 73 Dodge W100
That's great! Now do a Coyote powered dentside.
@roadstershop, I love this truck
I liked too see a custom 4 door ck! Put on yo seat belts!!😮
They didn't even mention one of the coolest aspects of a modern fully boxed and laddered frames like this: stiffness! Those original, simple chassis were floppy like overcooked pasta. This one is stiff as any modern truck. You can tell when during the slow-mo video of him drifting it offroad: no chassis shake, no bed twisting and undulating separate from the front of the truck, none of that. This stiffness would be apparent while driving when there's no squeaky noises, the ride would be nice and smooth, the truck would track nice and straight through mid-corner bumps and pavement irregularities, going over washboard dirt roads, and over things like railroad track crossings.
Will there be any 70s ford options I have a 1976 f150 supercab long bed that I daily and I'd love to have something like this. And will there be any ford engine options like the 7.3 godzilla, 5.0 coyote and even the 6.7 powerstroke for the people who wanna be able to tow?
Just GM for now in the Legend package - if we see enough demand from the Ford owners for this setup, definitely something we would take a look at. (We do offer a good few chassis for the Ford trucks in non-Legend setups too - check out roadstershop.com)
Is that frame only available as a short box or can you get that for a long box version as well?
This is so awesome. Is it possible to recreate these trucks without the possibility of future rust problems?
Ive daily driven my 1974 Chevy k10 for the past year put almost 40k miles on it I love the truck but it is a rough ride on bumpy roads
Heck yeah that’s the way they’re meant to be haha
I need to know if this fits the OBS body style of Chevy truck.
How about one for a 4 door long bed 2WD dually?
Love this truck I’m 54 and it’s all me, how do I get one
I want one. Take my money.
For a white collar guy that wants to look like a blue collar guy. Awesome stuff. 👌
Is it fit the gmc stepside 1984 ?
I'd much rather have one of these than an actual new truck, but I would want a long bed version. If you're in a state that makes you pay tax every year on your vehicles, you'd save a bundle right there.
Do you guy's make a chassis for an 87 s-10 blazer?
"its no different than buying a brand new truck" you got that right $97,000.00 as shown in this video.
Does it include seat belts?
It says for 73-80, will it also work for the 81-87 trucks. I know the stock frames were similar but not the same
Currently 73-80, as you mentioned the chassis are similar, but not the same. If we see enough demand for >'80 in this package, we may revisit it as an option.
