DUDE!!!!! YOU FIXED MY WASHER!!!! I can't thank you enough for post this video! (I have the exact same model Roper by the way). It was just as you described. I've run two loads in it now, one comforter and a large load just to push the limits. The washer is as quiet as a church mouse now. Thank you again!
Thank you for your very informative and easy to follow video. I have a very old Maytag washer that was making banging noises. I ordered the 4 springs from Amazon. They came today and I installed them. I ran a load and it was quiet as can be! The hard part was lifting the rods to attach the springs. Not bad for a 65 yr old woman.
This woman will be trying it out to fix my banging
You rock. Or should I say she bangs!😇
Wow ... Well done beautiful 😍
I just did mine today. You are right the rods are the hardest !I am an 80 year old female
I sure hope this is my problem, I just replaced all the suspension springs and tabs in corners, and after doing that and recalibration, it still was shaking violently all over. Now, my top ring is ripped like the one in video though, and was wondering if that could be my problem. Mine actually doesn't look as bad as this one in video, so I don't think that's it. Guess I'm more so really hoping it's not, because the cheapest tub ring replacement I found so far is damg near 80 bucks. And ya,I only paid like 200 for this ol washer, and ide rather buy a better bigger washer than spend 80$ on this horrible washer. I hate this washer, I've had so many issues with it, and it takes forever to go through even the shortest washer cycle.
Thanks a million ! My washer runs smoother than it ever did even when it was new ! Was about to buy a new washer and decided to look on You Tube to see if anyone had the same problem . The washer is almost totally motionless now when it goes into the spin cycle ! Thank again for the video !
I did what you did .mine is still shaking.
These instructions worked PERFECTLY for me. Fixed my washing machine under $15!!! Thank you so very much.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Actually our rod fell off and was able to fix it and just ordered springs to put on. You're the best for saving us a lot of money!!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this!!! We just completed this on my washer. I was afraid I was going to have to buy a new washer. You saved me a lot of money!!!!!!
Thank you kind sir. Saved me not only $$$, but some anxiety as well. I hate not knowing or understanding what's broken. Now I do. Thanks
Thanks. I have the same model
And it has been banging for years! Opened it up as you mentioned and no springs! Thanks for the upload and your time! 🍻 🇺🇸
Thank you for posting this. I was able to order the springs & it only took me 20 minutes to install them and they fixed my washer balance problem. Easy and quick repair!😊
Where did you get the springs
Amazon probably like he did.
OMG...
Has anyone said it yet? You're the best! A lifesaver! Thank you for doing this.
Thank you. I’m no handy man but fixed the severe jumping and bouncing problem, which was getting worse. I only had 3 springs since purchase and now improvising for the fourth spring the washer is so smooth.
Thank you so much! I didn’t have money to buy a new washer thanks to you it’s fixed and works great!😊
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I searched videos one more time this morning before ordering balancing bars and saw this video. I opened up the washer and couldn’t believe it. These springs are missing. Ordered on Amazon and they will be here tomorrow. Now I need a link to the correct replacement for the ring on top that is all chewed up.
OMG!!! You saved me at least $300. the Sears repair guy wanted $100 just to come out and look at it not including the I'm sure EXPENSIVE replacement parts to fix it and his labor. I have an Admiral washing machine a generic Maytag, which should be shut down for selling products that are bound to break, that was banging and crashing around. First I tried replacing the rod and shocks. No good. Still banged around looked up the Admiral website and found a video about the springs. The said if the springs were broke the washer would be off balance... Now when I started the repair I didn't take any springs off the machine and there were no broken springs anywhere. You are a great American, who I respect and say thank you so very much for confirming my theory. That Maytag guy should be tar and feathered and ran out of America. TY, TY, TY
Glad I could save you some money, one of my goals here.
This exact thing just happened to mine after 9 years of daily use. Thanks for the video it saved lots of headaches and money 💰
Thank you for a very clear and concise explanation of the problem and the repair.
Thank you. Even I can give this a try. You are a good thorough teacher.
Again thank you...especially location of parts and prices.
Sounds good, I'm going to try it out, thanks man, have a great weekend brother!
Your fix worked great, thx!...About 30 minutes of EZ work...I bought 4 Springs from Lowe's, like 1 of your readers suggested: 1/2" x 2-5/16" x .062"
How is machine doing now?
Thankyou for your service to this country and thank you for saving my washer!!!
You are the man. Let no one tell you different. Thanks
Semper fidelis, thanks I'm like many others here, thought our washer was going to fly part, it started when my brother was washing overalls, I just thought he had it out of balance, it was worse than that, that thing was bucking like a mule, I've been trying for 2 weeks to get springs close at the hardware store, I knew there should be something there but didn't know or see the correct springs I just gerry rigged it with little improvement. I'll order a pair of these, the Repair clinic has saved me 100s of $ so I'll stick with them again. Thanks!
James E. Tramel I had to laugh when you said your washer was bucking like a mule. Mine does that. It almost walked out the door one day. Definitely gonna try the springs.
Thanks so very much for posting this video - you saved us a load of money! Great job!
Got a whirlpool same issues lifted the lid no springs. Just ordered them thank you for your help
Thanks brother. I used 4 springs from Lowes. 1/2" x 2-5/16" x .062"
Hope that helps someone. God bless!
Many thanks Ronnelle - great advice!!! I told my husband what you said, he ran to Lowes got what you said, and just finished fixing our washer.
I bought the exact same ones from Lowe's and they fit.
@@DemonicTurtle66
Do you remember its brand? Or do you have a link to it? I'd appreciate it
@@tinyb8993 I don't remember the brand. They were just whatever Lowe's carries. It didn't work for me though, and actually made the problem worse until I took the springs off.
Ronnelle Sharpley thanks
Yes mine does the same thing....I tore it apart and couldn’t find why it was doing this but now I know....thanks a million
Thanks dude for making it so much easier for me. The repair worked perfectly.
Thanks
It just saved me some $$$ by fixing the way u explained...
thanks for the video. I was just at lowes today. good to know I just need springs.
Sir, you saved me hundreds of dollars. Thank you!
Wife hates me; she wants one of those $1,200 Samsung washers!😉
Great video... &my exact washer & problem! Thank you!
Thank you! Just had a guy tell me he’ll fix mine for $180 plus cost of parts. I guess I’m ordering from Amazon as well.
I never fixed it by myself, but I just ordered the suspension rods hopefully it works out. Thanks!
it should, let us know.
Exactly what I needed! Thank you!
Roper washer here, added springs didnt work for me, still banging. So then I jammed pillows and blankets around the tub pretty tight. That worked 👍 I have never hated an appliance like I hate this washer. From day 1 it ripped my clothes from agitating while it fills with no water in it, then the lid lock broke, had it fixed under warranty, two weeks later lock broke again and magically the warranty expired. So then I hooked a light switch into the lock circuitry so when its done washing, you have to cancel the cycle switch it to rinse and spin, start it then flip the light switch so it thinks lid is locked. Then it started this wild banging nonsense out of nowhere like a horse kicking inside there. Opened it up and nothings broke.. not like other washers I've seen the springs break, this doesn't even have springs. Its only 4yrs old. What a POS, I'll never by anything made by roper ever again. Hopefully I'll get another washer soon, because then I'm gonna tie this roper up behind my jeep and drag it around town
Thank you So Much!!! Everything went according to your Plan. You are Awesome......
The four (4) suspension rods fixed my issue. Thanks.
Exact same washer, exact same problem. Thank you!
Rivtastic07 Yup me too
Matt Ryan I fixed mine. This vid is in Spanish, but the guy demonstrates very well. I haven’t had any problems since. The springs didn’t work for me. Basically a free fix. czcams.com/video/DVxw6Hrd6H8/video.html
You’re my new favorite person!! Thank you for making this video!!! 🫶🫶
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!! my washer is working like new!!
Thank you so much for your Fix IT YOURSELF video. My son was able to follow your easy instructional video and I now have a new washing machine, the parts cost under $10.00. The manufacture had NEVER installed the springs to secure the tub, just like you pointed out in your video.
Hello can you please share the part number? Thank you !
Mine just started doing the same thing
Thank you very much.
I will look into that in a bit
Thanks for the video. Mine has been banging against the side for years (usually blamed the wife for unbalancing it with towels) and then yesterday the tub fell to one side. Using your video, I found that one of the suspension rods had actually came unhooked, so I put it back. I also found that I only had two springs on one side, so I have ordered two more.
The four small springs worked for a couple of washes only, then I ended up replacing the four rods & like new for a year now.
@@PatriotMarine you should probably put that info somewhere where everyone can see.
Thank you for so much for! I’m going to order the parts off of Amazon ASAP and try to do it myself. I’m supposed to have a repair guy come out here Friday and try to fix it but that’s more money I have to pay so this way will save me money thanks a lot for Sharing thanks again🎉
Very detailed,good job .
Excellent !
But thank you for your help I tried it. I will still watch your channel
thank you your video was such a big help.
That was it! Four tub springs at Repair.clinic for $9. Total fix time ~20minutes (including cleaning all the gunk...). Thank you!!
Great fix Tom.
Steve Martin!!
Thankyou!! Mine is doing this exact thing. Mine had not 1 spring anywhere. Rather than buying springs I tried 4 heavy duty zip ties i already had in the shop. Well see how long they last all it needs is some type of resistance/cushion side to side front to back on spin cycle.
Thank you!! My washer has been doing this for years, mostly with bulky items, sheets or a quilt. I hate this washer! But going to check mine for springs and add them if it has none.
Very helpful. Thank you.
Those springs didn’t come in my Roper machine either lol. Thanks so much for the video
Thank you!! I'm going to be laid off in a week from now and I was looking at buying a new washing machine cuz mine quit working right. I watched your video and fix it myself ! Thank you thank you thank you
timbonjovi Not sure if you still have this problem. The springs didn’t work for me. I fixed mine. This vid is in Spanish, but the guy demonstrates very well. I haven’t had any problems since. Basically a free fix. czcams.com/video/DVxw6Hrd6H8/video.html
The cheaper washers don’t come with the springs Home Depot has the springs located in hardware. Spring is: 2.437x0.468x0.054
Thank you so much for putting the dimensions
That spring isn't available at Home Depot (or Lowes). They must be special ordered for damn awful prices. The gouging SOBs at the factory want your money.
Yea but did it solve the problem, I would of like to of seen a load of wash through the whole cycle
I bought the $1000 Bravos XL model and it doesn't have the springs!
Thank you. This comment is a Godsend
Thanks for the information. I was looking at a washer for an old lady and didn’t see anything wrong with the rods. Now I know. It’s missing the springs. I’ll fix it for her next week
Did it work for her?
@@PatriotMarine unfortunately it didn’t. I believe the springs on the rods are weak. I purchased some. But I haven’t had a chance to install them yet.
@@dmandman9 4 new rods is what finally worked for mine.
Thank you!
Thank you, Found out our washer only had two springs. fixed it with zipties on the missing corners
Did zip ties work okay? Thinking about trying to use them until I get the springs ordered
@@abif220 see my SOLVED post
Thank you for this! My washer had ZERO springs on it so I tried the zip tie trick for the moment. Will order the parts or go to Lowe’s and pick them up.
I tried this same problem
Nice work.
Your video really helped thanks
This is great!! Thank you so much!!!!!
Have exactly the same model and opened the washing machine probably 5 times and the hook support always gets displace, or plastic gets tangled with the back cover, the washing machune does not have any springs , got fed up fixing it , yout info is very helpful. Just want to find out if the springs really worked.
Your video us very helpful.
I believe I have the same problem of the basket moving too freely. Also I need to replace the agitator. It had to be deliberately designed to fail. It is made of pvc and is fastened in only one point.
Thanks so much!! 😊
Update, see picture of foams sticked with glue on all sides. Now the washer is nice and quiet. I just spent $10 on the springs that did NOT help at all. Try plastic foam, or something hard but flexible. Good luck
Springs didnt work for me either, I stuffed pillows and blankets around the tub really tight, that worked 👍
Thanks great information
I did it!! Waiting for spin cycle. Mines a whirlpool looked just like yours.
...if like mine, it only works briefly; replace the rods (also did a video) that's worked still years later.
Thank you, I salute you good sir. Semper Fi

Just went through the same thing, BUT, when you see the broken plastic, you need the 4 rods, Period. I just replace our 4 rods and No bang at all now. I left top off, got the 4 springs coming tomorrow, I will put those on even though ours did not have any. We ran a cycle without them as it came that way, and with just new rods fixed the problem, but still going to put springs on. I did not see anything wrong with old rods, but assume they were weak, it would bounce up and down before, with new rods much stronger. So new rods will fix it even though you don't see anything wrong.
also want to know if it's still going strong..
The rods are dampening rods, that's why there are no springs. Adding the springs just makes it last longer, between rod replacements, with so many plastic parts, it only makes sense to do what you can to make things last longer, cheaply.
Yes sir, should have got the new rods and suspension in the first place, tried the cheap route and paid for it.
We figured out how to control the off-load spin-cycle issue much easier: Bought a 2800 lbs 20 foot tow cable from Harbor Freight for $12.00 and wrapped it tightly around BOTH washer and dryer (they are right next to each other). This was our solution: No banging or moving around. Very silent. Couldn't be more happy. In the last 18 months since we did this, only once did it require us to re-position the towels.
Harbor Freight does have some cheap prices on cheap stuff.
LOL
Unless this is a joke, how did you open the dryer door?
Get it done! like the cable guy says
I like it. I have ratchet straps everywhere. For free. 😂
Just went through the same thing . Replaced those springs and the spring rods .machine is still shaking. Good luck
Thank you,, thank you, works perfect.
awesome job thank you
Thank you for your help now I know what is wrong with mine
Very helpful
Right around 4:00+ I'm reminded of the time I was ordering a seafood platter and asked for frog legs. The young bimbo asked "how many?". I replied I want 2 frog legs. She replied, we only sell them in pairs. :) I replied, so..... give me a pair of frog legs. She replied, SOOOO.... do you want 2 pairs of frog legs, or just 2 frog legs. I said TWO FROG LEGS. READ MY LIPS. TWO FROG LEGS. Anyway, 30 minutes later my order came and guess how many frog legs it had!! *1* single frog LEG. So, when I see the guy in this video with 2 packs of springs each with 2 springs, that's 4 total springs. Maybe the parts center had the same worker who worked in the seafood restaurant.
😁😆
Thanks for this video! It was an easy solution to solve the violent shaking in our washer!
😄😄😄😄
What are your thoughts on the current situation
Yes ours didn't have them either thanks for the video
I did this prior to seeing this. Has it happened again? Cause mine after a days worth or washing the next day started banging again.
Thank you for this video! Did you have to recalibrate the drum through the controls? I seen a video that recalibrates it.
No. But hopefully you read complete title. *and Video 2
mine like yours did not come with the small springs. I put the springs on and still the same issue. not sure if my suspension is worn out or it's the drive block.....
I took screws from back slid top forward but it won’t release to raise. Does it have to be in just a soso position? Not too much not too little
Springs will be here tomorrow Sunday. Thanks
Appreciated!
Great video! I do have a question. When I push down the tub, the tub goes down and back up... just like when I test the shocks on a car. That indicates that the springs are probably good... what else could be suspect?
My appliance guy said the "rods" do that. And that it's "self balancing"
I call Bs though. Been doing laundry long enough to not overload/unbalance it this often. Lol
Thanks for this video. My Whirlpool washer is also "banging" around during spin cycle. I've already replaced the suspension rods and that fixed the problem for ONLY the 1st few loads. My washer also doesn't come with these centering springs. These centering springs look so flimsy and doesn't have enough strength to hold the drum from "banging" around. Can someone please confirm that these centering springs will do the trick?
I was thinking the same thing
They don’t do the trick, these light weight springs are useless, there are some stiffer springs for $24 on Amazon though that look more like what is needed.
I only bought two of the small springs... do you think I need to buy four ... two for the left side of the washer?
The springs strangely only worked for a few washes; see next video for what worked for my washer, and still.
Ty🌺
I just did this and washer ran like brand new but yesterday and today it run like I never done it!!! It have new springs and subspensions he'll new everything! Now the basket sit unevenly uneven????
The springs wp 6309 look alot stiffer then the ones you show. I removed ring there are not any holes under the ring only on the ring .The hooks are bent in drastically and are very stiff impossible to hook in holes. This washer is 3 years old whirlpool. Is it possible they sent the wrong springs.Label reads washing machine suspension tub springs Ok editing up date they sent the right springs she runs like new .Definitely obvious the lighter springs finally did the job.Thank you
Excellent video ! My Whirpool washer bought in 2020 is banging badly. I checked, and there are no springs. I am going to the appliance parts store today. If they don't have it, I will check the automotive parts store, get some, and modify them. If I order them from Amazon, It will take months with this Covid19 problem. I live in Trinidad, West Indies.
For mine Video (2) is what finally solved it, years later STILL like new.
Out of balance SOLVED.
I am living in a country without access to the springs I supposedly need. I tried the zip ties, they did not work, they just bent my rods (I just straitened them back) . My machine would bang around even with nothing in it. When slowly rotating it by hand I could see the wash drum was off balance to one side. it was warped to one side from banging around too much, my machine is on the roof and I don't hear it. Since it was warped the water ring (centrifuge)at the top of the drum wouldn't work as intended and all of the water would go to one side and cause it to be out of balance. By the way this is 15 kg capacity washer with the tall agitator, not a high efficiency washer with the flat agitator.
Here is what I did to fix it.
>Slowly rotate the drum and with a permanent marker and mark a line on the water ring where it is most extreme toward the cabinet.
>Remove the agitator
>With a ruler measure from the wall (line side) of the drum to the center post
>Measure the opposite side
>Example: line side 260mm opposite side 254mm
>The center cone of the drum is off by 3mm
>You need to move the center cone toward the line 3mm
>I used a 20 ton hydraulic jack without the handle that just barely fit between the wall and the cone opposite the line and pumped it 3 times or so. (Keep in mind some jacks don't work on the side, at first try, with the handle mechanism facing up it didn't work, I made the handle side of the jack face down and it worked : ) A car/truck bottle jack could work too!
On my first try I went too far the other way, just rotate it around if needed and do it again with less pumps. you will get it eventually. I ran the machine on the spin cycle, it works as intended, It has a little jiggle and you could spend more time perfecting but that is up to you. One last thing, there were rubber washers on each rod that were 2 inches above the plastic tub on mine, just slide them down to the tub/spring. You may or may not have these. I hope this helps somebody.

Just called my appliance guy, he said it's self balancing by the rods 😏👀 lol going to have to take my phone and this video
Preciate cha on that 411, it was very helpful. Keep up the good work 👏 👍
Just a question here I have the same machine it was given to me and it's old and used it for quite a while and then it started doing off balance making a lot of racket so I replaced the suspension rods and then I just seen your video about springs and you said a lot of them don't even come with springs well this one looks like it never came with springs why all of a sudden now is it not performing right because if it never had springs, why now does it need them? I guess that's my question. I guess I like to know the why when things happen. But I'm really really glad that I caught your video because I'm sure it's going to be the problem solver.
adding the springs STRANGELY worked for a few washes (DOESN'T make sense) but the other video, replacing the RODS is what fixed it STILL since video date...
My question is what causes the banging in the first place? Did the original springs break or they never came with them? Why after 5/6yrs does it start to bang?
my kenmore does not have these springs either and my washer does at times goes out of balance. Would these springs work for my kenmore also? Thanks for the info in the video.
'If" it came without them, no. It's probably the rods 'springs' going bad.
Thanks for the video. As I was replacing the four suspending rods I noticed the holes you point out but no springs were present so I assumed there weren’t supposed to be any. Of course the washer is still going nuts so when I get home I’m going to give some zip ties and try and then potentially order actual springs.
Did zip ties help it ?
@@ckeller421 no. Found out that I ordered too short of rods and reordered new oem replacements. That finally solved issue.
Hey sir, you included a link to amazon for the suspension rod kit
Do you have a link for just the suspension springs?
Or is it recommended to replace the rods AND springs?
I'm wondering the same thing.
Just Added Link
Did putting 4 springs make a difference? We just put ours back together b/c the spring had popped off, but we will replace the springs now. Wondering if 4 (there were only 2) is better? Also, why do you have *(worked briefly) up above? Appreciate your help.
as you noticed, it 'strangely' worked for a few loads ONLY. Then on the next video on the channel about the washer replacing the rods; that worked and it's STILL working. *(look at video date)
My washer didn't have any springs on it. I bought two for the right side and it didn't fix the problem.. I replaced the suspension rods and that didn't fix it either... suggestions. I have a maytag centennial washer mvwc200xw2
strangely the 4 sprigs made it stop shaking for a few washes, but then started again; the rods stopped the shaking & like new still.
