I’m not entirely sure, but I think a woman holds the world record in a mile ran with an EOD suit. (11 minutes, six seconds according to army.mil) I’m not getting r/wooooshed seeing ’I dont get the joke’, I just wanted to add to this.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if an EOD female holds the record. Certain aspects of physical fitness are non discriminate in EOD because devices and tools weight what they weigh leading to abnormally strong females. Also the small suits weigh less than a larger suit and the sizes are based more on height than anything. So a small EOD female is abnormally strong and wears a suit that is lighter weight.
One additional concern is that for every five minutes in the suit you loose one IQ point and half a pound of water weight. (Don’t worry they come back with Pedia-Lite and cooling down.)
Advice for anyone wearing a bomb suit for the first time, please don’t eat biscuits and gravy, cereal with whole milk, and yogurt for breakfast because your puke will have nowhere to go.
Advice for everyone not EOD: when in the company of EOD do not bring up the hurt locker in any significant way, expect to quietly enjoy any film with bomb techs in it, tell an EOD tech something you “know” about a piece of munitions, leave beer unattended, or expect a technician will have pants on when you get back from the bathroom. By the way don’t touch anything

When I was in the Army, still in AIT, all of us being new soldiers were curious to ask our staff sergeant some questions about deployment as he had brought it up. Someone asked him what the craziest thing was he witnessed while he was over. He said then very first time he ever went, he had not even seen combat yet. They located a UXO (unexploded ordinance) and made a perimeter and brought in EOD. He spoke with some of those that showed up and they went to work. I do not know the details of the equipment that was worn, but it apparently was not enough because he said "I was just speaking to him, and now he is in pieces, everywhere. We literally just had a conversation"

I actually got to wear one of these suits a few years back when I was in high school. My school brought in army recruiters every once in a while, and one day they brought in one of these suits for students to try out during lunch. I felt like I was in a suit of power armor from fallout or something. The thing was incredibly heavy, though, so I can’t imagine trekking around in it for and extended period of time, much less in the deserts of the Middle East
Man I always wanted to wear a bomb suit and race in it
now that ya mention it, power armor KINDA is like eod suits but...ya know for bullets and lazers, more of a modern suit of knight armor if that was practical or possible, then again they have a lot of robo stuff underneath to help move in it, so in theroy its possible to make some.
At least those power armors have some sort of power assist in them to enable users to traverse quickly, they wouldnt be called power armors in the 1st place
When I was younger I was at a parade and an EOD guy from the police was there and he had some piece of equipment I can’t remember right but I think it was a thing to bash down doors or something and I got to hold it and get a picture with the guy. Younger me thought he was really cool in that suit cause he looked like a juggernaut from MW2 lol

They are strong units that can be killed quickly. However, they serve as tanks for the police, so they are much of a threat, especially since higher difficulties increase the damage for all weapons.
You mean in payday: the heist, because in 2, they are used as chewing gum for high level players

This is what my dad did in the Air Force. He was stationed at Dover AFB, so he naturally spent most of his career detonating explosives rather than defusing bombs in a combat zone. Even made this giant metal box to detonate bombs on the range without worrying about shrapnel, and I hear they still use it.

@@jebbsredemption Stopping a bomb is different from stopping a bullet, The big shockwave and explosion is what these suits are made to stop, A bullet isnt a wave of force but instead a piece of led very very fast into one spot, The armor may be able to stop light pistol rounds and Shotguns but probably not any rifle rounds.
Josh Larson This is the same logic that goes into why bulletproof vests aren't made to stop knives despite being able to stop a bullet. Different objects require different materials and construction to effectively stop them, but one can't be used as a substitute for another. That is of course, unless you are playing a game and logic/realism is all but forsaken for the sake of fun.

@@TheCaptainSplatter Nah, not really. A lot of the explosives are timed and if they don't have any time to defuse it, they can get as far away as possible. If they don't get far enough away to have zero damage, then the suit helps them not get impaled.
It's like arc flash gear. Just gives the possibility of having an open casket funeral
