  • Franklin and Marshall College, one of the oldest in the United States, is a beautiful liberal arts college located in Lancaster, PA, just outside of Philadelphia. I'd been planning on visiting the F&M campus for a while and finally got a chance as I drove back through Pennsylvania.
I got to spend a whole day on the small but stunning Franklin and Marshall campus, put a lot of Franklin and Marshall campus tour into this video for you! And I interviewed two F&M admissions counselors: Hannah and Leah. Hannah and Leah both handle international admissions at F&M. This is one of the few colleges in the US that promises to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for international applicants, so I knew I had to check them out.
Loved my visit to F&M! Shoutout to Chi Omega sorority who I happened to run into while filming on campus. If you want to check them out on IG or Tiktok go to @chiomega_fandm

You say you're from PA but call it Lan Caster? And calling it the Rest of PA? The "rest of PA" is between Chambersburg and Pittsburgh, also called "Pennsyltucky"

Lol I'm very familiar with Pennsyltucky as I grew up in Monongahela, and I'd say Lancaster counts as "rest of PA". Most people who aren't from the US think of PA and think of Philly only.

@@score-yourcollegecounselor Oh ok, that makes sense; I guess most of us who grew up in Eastern PA just think of anything west of the Susquehanna as the "rest of PA" lol... But like... why call it Lan Caster?

Well F&M is reading applications as we speak so at this point not much you can do but wait and hope! But if you're thinking about applying to other schools, keep showing interest! Visit the websites, attend any webinars or virtual events they offer. Ask for interviews if they didn't ask you for one. When colleges trust that you're genuinely interested, it helps your chances.

Sure! Apply on RIT's website if you can, they told me they like that more than CommonApp. For Binghamton, CommonApp works fine. Anything in particular that you have questions about?

Even if I had the $$$ for F & M, I still wouldn't go there because these days kids use laptops for their assignments for the most part, whereas in my college days in the late 80s, we were using dinosaur tech, i.e. electric typewriters, pen, paper, erasers, notepads. I have never owned a laptop! Too intimidating!!

Yeah, laptops are pretty much what every college kid uses to do just about everything these days. It's 2023 now, the times they are a changin.

I attend Alvernia, in Reading, PA, which is similar in size and beauty to F&M; I can assure you that while most students do have laptops, most students still take notes with pen and paper. I personally like to use a fountain pen since I can write quicker and nicer with it. I could easily survive college without a laptop, since I spent most of my life growing up among the Pennsylvania Dutch (which makes college seem like a 200 year advancement from that world), though being a biochemistry and business major requires computers for some tasks, so I would obviously at least need a flash drive to use the university's computers; which makes sense since college is meant to prepare us for the world, which has computers.
      GO WOLVES!!!!!!!!

Overpriced school, grade deflation, professors dont support you when you need them for grad school recommendations.

ngl sounds like a bit of a personal problem here, I mean if your grades are low naturally professors are going to be less likely to support your grad school application right away.
