- A former corporate executive in manufacturing, Charley has been a longtime supporter of the Pay it Forward mission. In fact, Charley is so passionate about Pay it Forward that he left his company and career behind in 2011 to help advance its mission
and bring back simplicity in a complex world. As the president of the Pay it Forward Foundation and head of the worldwide Pay it Forward Movement, he is the creator of the Pay it Forward bracelet, a physical reminder to do good that has been sent to over 1.3 million people in 117 countries. He founded the PIF Experience, the official website of the Pay it Forward Movement, responsible for keeping the world up to date on all things Pay it Forward. Charley also founded the Pay it Forward Hall of Fame in 2011.

Integrity is doing the right thing when 'no one' is watching. Funny thing is that someone is watching, but the point is to do it without thinking of who is watching.

I was raised in a small town in Missouri. This is just what we did. Holding a door was just polite. You smiled at people on the sidewalk. If people had a need and you could help out, you. just. did....with no thought of what the payback would be. You got a smile and a thank you in return and that was more than enough. And it made a difference. My parents modeled it for us every day. I've tried to do the same with my boys. This WILL build a better world... IF people just open their eyes to the possibilities and get away from the "whats in it for me" mentality.

I agree and support everything he said...minus the bracelet. The greatest satisfaction I find is in paying it forward or doing a good deed for someone, but with no recognition. That is the magic. The bracelet assures that you will get recognition and also assumes responsibility for the receiver, intended or not. The bracelet then becomes a measure of success. It is much more meaningful for me to be completely anonymous, and trust the human spirit will continue to grow from positivity. With no limits.

Very cool. I had help in completing my education, now I help many to complete their education. I've always liked to pay it forward concept. It is a simple act that you can do for every good that you were given by someone else.

Keep it nice and easy. Nobody should feel threatened and imposed on to feel as if they need to do 10-100 things at a time. People work best given 2-4 things per moment / place.
It shouldn't take decades of retaining lessons to have this common sense.

I liked this BUT when he listed a dog as a possession I felt kinda pissed- and yes I can tell u exactly when my two dogs joined the family. Those are important days we celebrate!

+amatoDonatien A possession is an item of property; something that belongs to you. Pets are property. Our emotional attachments to them do not make it any less so. Most are bought and paid for, sold, given away, etc. You may not like the term but you do OWN them and because of that, their fate is in your hands. The only choices they have is what you give them. Funny hearing a guy that wears a Rolex giving a speech downplaying possessions. Also, at 3:36 sounds like he is advocating Facebook as Facebook fits into that description. Then later he rips apart social media. lol. Overall a good message.

I wanna see a debate (or fist fight) between Charley Johnson and Tai Lopez. Johnson almost lowkey bashed him and others regarding the whole self help phenomenon . I Love Ted Talks and some i DO NOT agree with (pyramid scheme anyone?) but I really, truly, love what this human is doing.

A level playing field? I agree the concept is great, but by spreading your ideology to the stranger, who you just helped, is only self serving your own self-gratification as well as putting a burden of obligation upon the next individual. It is no different from posting that Gandi quote on facebook to sleep at night. We are all naturally selfish and only hope for improvement to justify our own desires, whether it be to sleep peacefully the next night or make a monetary gain.
