- Welcome to 2020 and to a new ride to work (For a little while). I borrowed a Zuma 125 to ride for a little while to see how I like it and how he likes the X22GT. Watch if you want to see how well she performs riding to work. I do enjoy the features of this scooter.
NOTE: I am not an expert but more of an enthusiast who is trying to build experience. Please feel free to ask questions in the comments or resources like 49ccScoot forums on the internet (Great Place!)

I bought my Zuma back in 2013 and all my Harley rider coworkers teased me mercilessly. And they all wanted to ride it, too.
There is still usually going to be enjoyment regardless of it not being able to go 160 MPH.
Lol
A great Zuma 125! Thanks for posting. I look forward to seeing more videos with this bike. 🛵💨
Trying to make that happen , I made a video last Sunday with my walk around
"Yaay I get to make it to 2020!"
2020: *evil laughter*
Was 2 degrees C here today too (35f), I weltched out taking the Zoomer and sat on the bus 😫. Love the dash on that Yamaha Zuma.
It's an overlooked scooter. If you can pick up one for 1000 or around it jump on it!
Always good to have a loud bike due people distraction the loud sound can save lives. Nicer video I’m looking forward buying for these Scooter to do Cornershop Delivery
I have a 10 mile commute daily to work, all surface streets. I think this little scooter would be ideal for that.
Smaller Benefits to a scooter is if it rains your gets are better covered but to be a scooter commuter you have to commit to it. I’ve road in rain and cold 😎
he said i need gas. keeps riding, passing several gas stations...
He is a wild boi, can't u tell?
My first zuma 125, was white and black, somebody stole it from my front yard. Now I have a black on black 2020 💗 my zuma.
Is such a useful ride
Love the Zuma125! I bought mine in 2010 and runs awesome. Not tall at all compared to my DRZ400 lol
Always had a soft spot in my heart for the Zuma125's. However I feel the Genuine Hooligan 170i bests it in every way, except dealership availably and ability to customize. Good vid dude. I was unaware the little Zuma would go that fast.
The Hooligan has some issues, especially overheating. The 170cc engine started as the 125cc in the Buddy 125, and was fine at that displacement. The 170 is basically a 125 with a 170 top end on it and an oil cooler. I highly recommend the Buddy 125, but they just punched the Hooligan 170 out a bit too much
@@geraldscott4302 very interesting and good to know! I had no clue it had any issues. Just what I observed on the new ones and what is "on paper " comparing them as when cross shopping for a new scoot. Thanks for the heads up!
Love a zuma
I just reached one thousand miles on my 2020 Zuma 125. It's my 3rd Yamaha Zuma. Got a 50cc in 2005, got a 125 Zuma in 2014 and now the 2020 125. I bought a few gy6 150cc scooters off the internet and they are junk compared to the Yamaha Zuma. The Zuma scooter has always held up amazingly well. I sold the 2014 Zuma and it had 39,000 miles on it and was still running perfectly. Change the oil and trans fluid often and the air filter and they will run forever.
I’m telling you (and you know this well) it’s a rock solid scooter. You would end up buying 3 gy6 scooters to live as long and do as far as this Zuma. 39k miles is a lot !
I'm looking to buy a used 2021 model. Someone selling for 2.5k 5k miles. What should i look out for in a used zuma at 5k miles / questions to ask owner? Any help is appreciated
3:37 Was waiting for that van to pull out.
Nice !!
I love quiet exhaust. It's quiet .
I’m trying to change that
@@SmallEngineVelocity I wouldn't.
What up, fellow Houstonian! I knew I recognized that Shipleys lol
Lol yup :) in my area
Oh man this bike is fast
Great video❗️I love my 2018 Zumba 125cc I weigh 235lbs and mine will do 59mph.
Do you find it gets a little scary above 40? perhaps its just me or the increased wind......
@@timtaylor8557 I been riding for many years so I am comfortable but just Rembrandt the faster you go the further ahead you have to watch for danger‼️
165lb here and my 2017 58... too old to go faster
just bought a 2019 new. added street tires, windscreen, foot pegs, saddle bags, coleman atv seat cover and luggage rack. awesome. watched your vid before buying and it helped "close escrow". used car salesman (true lies)
What are your impressions with & without the windscreen?
@@timtaylor8557 mr. t, never drove without windscreen as i have other bikes with screens so didn't have to test. it's great and i bought from yamaha parts.com or what and attaches to mirror threads. it also gives the "euro" look also and a place for a cpl stickers..
Never forget the turtle neck!! And you definitely don't have to tippy toe, you choose to tip toe lol!! Don't think I ever try putting down both feet on a scooter, unless iam backing out
Listening in 2022. You wouldn’t have missed much if you hadn’t made it to 2020 😂
I like how you reacted to the car turning illegally in front of you. Then you explained just what I would have done. Are you still happy to have made it to 2020, LOL. Just kidding around. Like the Zuma but never had one. I did have a Vino 125 that I adjusted the veriator and weights on with a Doctor Pulley kit that would comfortably do 65mph. Good scooters.
Does it go any faster? I bought a new 2012 Zuma 125, and it would top 60 mph on a flat level road. I put 36K miles on it, almost all of them at full throttle, and it was still running like new when I sold it. You have to replace the belt every 10K miles, the tires last about 6K miles, valves are a pain to adjust because they are so hard to get to, and they are supposed to be done every 3K miles. It has 4 valves.
Hey! At least we know the horn works well lol.
Haha true
The Zuma looks like fun. I recently picked up an Smax here in the states, but have ridden just about everything, living in Indonesia most of the last 4 years. I was surprised too at how tall the Smax is compared to it's Indonesian market counterpart Nmax. Feels more like a motorcycle than models in the SE Asian market. I'm assuming the Zuma must be heavy for a 125cc? I's expect it a bit faster, as the Smax is very comfortable at 70mph, at 328lbs wet. Anyhow, great video, and thanks for talking more than I do in riding videos. :-P
Smax is great in my opinion, loved my wife’s. Tried to find reasons to steal it from her every chance I get
A Milwaukee heated jacket would be nice for that ride. It takes Milwaukee's 12v batteries.
I love the old bws 125
Me too but I got a great deal on this one :)
You almost got grape'd 😮 (squished, like a grape 😜) LOL! I know it's not funny, but my dad does that LOTS (turns from the wrong lane), and then always wants to argue "that was a turn lane too!", LOL! Looking forward to more videos while you have it, I'd be shocked if a Yamaha/any Japanese big brand scooter didn't last a ood 25-30K miles if well maintained imo. I know it's apples to oranges, but I know people who have seen upwards of 100 km's or more relatively trouble free from their CB500X's and other makes, it makes sense to me that their scoots would last long too. Great ride along, brother, be safe out there 😊✌
"eye level with Miata guys." As a Miata owner, that is REALLY LOW bro!! Ride safe!
What's the highest speed?
Can I use a regular driver license to drive it?
What moto pants are you wearing?
the windshield really helps with wind
Is it the OEM windshield you have? What year Zuma?
It's not a speed test , it's a simulated "I'm late for work test" .
How would you compare the Zuma 125 against any other scooters you've ridden? Assuming you've ridden others... ;-)
Lots and so far the 100% absolutely the best. I swear it rides like a sport bike . You can lean into the turns, it’s nimble, it’s like a minivan with all sorts of storage space, and in my opinion looks awesome. You can’t really go wrong with this Zuma. If you buy one I really would like to get your opinion on it. My brother rides a 600cc sport bike And he borrows my zoom all the time
Lastly I’ve owned it for over a year and all I’ve done is oil change and check the air in the tires. If I can make a suggestion make sure you’re always cleaning the black plastics with armor all or whatever because if you leave it in the sun a lot they can fade
@@SmallEngineVelocity Thanks for your reply. I do own a Zuma 125 for about 6 months now. I do love it. Just did my first oil change and did the gear oil while i was at it. I rarely go above 40mph and initially thought it was a bit unstable above 40 but that may have been partly me just getting used to a scooter. This is my first scooter. I've ridden a moped before and a small 200cc motorcycle. I seem to be getting more confident on it the more i ride. So far I love the scooter. The only negatives is the seat could be a little more comfortable and when going above 30mph and hitting bumps i get this strange rubbing sound coming from the front which I believe is the shock boots but not certain. As far as the plastics, I haven't put anything on them yet as I was concerned about afecting the matt finish which some say you can make it 'shiny' if you wipe it too hard. I store my scooter inside anyway so it is not subjected to the sun for long.
I just wish these had a hazard light function.
Looking at scooters. Can you advise how this compares to Honda pcx150? Unable to test ride either. Thanks.
Honda PCX 150 : My first ride on a Honda PCX 150 #HondaPCX #SEV
I liked it and it feels like a scooter Harley and it’s very useful. As for speed my zuma 125 goes just as fast but the pcx can carry people and cargo easier.
I’d get one if I could
Small Engine Velocity Thanks for your responses. I forgot about the Grom. Have you ridden one? How does it compare to a scooter. I am really looking for something fun to ride for fun. Not commuting or anything else. Just want to ride for fun. There is also a CBR300R motorcycle?
It nice Ceasar i got a offer for 2016 smax Yamaha 155 a good price but i do not have zero credit get it! I only pay by cash or layaway! Its test scooter 35 miles brand new let people test out from the dealer.
Does anyone know why Yamaha uses an ignition key that has a 'pivot'?? (the key can fold)
Knee smash up agaist it and bend em
@@SchleighSimeon that sounds like one of the most likely theories I’ve heard so far.
thx for the video but you should accelerate somehow at least 0-100kmh for every review
Anyone looking for this generation built? Stretched, wheels....
I can’t find anything
Can someone ride behind you on the back?
Weight capacity is only about 348 i think. You can certainly have a second rider. A bit cramped on the seat but the scooter handles two great as far as power goes.
You mean you can put 100K on it, it is a Yamaha! Will run almost forever if you maintain it!
wtf.. Only 10-15k miles? Does this close to 4,000$ scooter not survive more than 15k miles? That's like 3 years of commute for me... 5k a year.... for almost four thousand dollars... holy shet that would be disappointing if it didn't last at least 5 years.
Yea understood, its not a long long distance commute. They way I see it 4k for the scooter , less than 200 dollars a year for insurance and WAY less gas than a car , maybe 20% annual if not less - just swap out after. This one in particular is a Yamaha and I am unsure what the max miles or life is.
A ho eeeeee
Outer pants
And inner pants too
@@SmallEngineVelocity double the pants, double the fun?
nah is notJapanese scooter is taiwan scooter
Is Yamaha from Taiwan ?
@@SmallEngineVelocity is bws from taiwan
Why did I think it was Japan? That you for telling me this information
@YUAN NADI (員納迪) exactly, and even with this Yamaha is still the number one motorcycle company as far as reliability.
What does a scooter and a fat chick have in common?! Both fun to ride until your friends find out, lol
All my friends have scooters too so maybe that works for closet scooter riders.
How about more about the bike? No you just talking nonsense.
Show the bike. Talk less about yourself. Yes, you are important, but people get on here to check out the bike, not how people dress riding it.
