I use them with my Android phone, iPad and Macbook and honestly there is really no difference for me, in fact the ability to completely customize the eq on any pair of headphones make them sound even better on my Android. The one downside is the fact that you can't really tell the battery like you can on ios, but there are some 3rd party android apps that could fix this. I personally have don't use any of all the fancy features, I just use the regular adaptive noise control, anc, and transparency which you can control right from the buds. So unless you are looking to use things like spatial audio with head tracking, I do recommend these earbuds even for Android users as I believe they are one of the best if not the best overall earbuds on the market. But I do think you would need access to at least one iOS/mac device that you can use to set up all the settings with (this is only a one time, after that all the settings will be saved).

Are the long press settings saved to the pods or the OS? It's annoying that the long press doesn't do all 3 - "OFF" is nice because it allows natural sound dampening of the pods, which is quieter than transparency mode, but not full noise cancellation, which can be a hazard in public. I have iOS devices or my wife does or whatever, so if it's saved to the pods I can connect quick with that, enable it, and then use it with my Pixel.
The things you don't get are pretty small, IMO. $250 is still steep, but it's steep even for iOS where everything works - it's simply expensive. But I love how well the noise cancellation works. I am skeptical about long term charging though, as my wife's gen 2 airpods stopped charging after 1 or 2 years due to connection problems with the case. If these last 5 years I'm fine, 1 or 2 and I'd be pissy.
