In this video, I share my experience of how I got my first tech job with absolutely no tech or industry experience. The thing is, in order to get a tech job with no experience, you need to have stuff on your resume, but my resume was empty like a dry vessel. I had no idea how I could get a tech job with no experience, especially in a job market that puts work experience as a requirement to get the job.
The key thing I realized was that to get a job without experience, you need to sell yourself. I share exactly how I did it in this video in my story of how I got this tech job. In Canada or any country abroad, selling yourself and showcasing what you have and what you bring to the table is of utmost importance. Hence in this story, I gather even the smallest of my achievements, certificates, and projects and put them together in a portfolio to show to the employer that might be worth a shot.
Another important take I want to share as part of my experience is that your parents have worked really hard to send you to abroad countries. This is an opportunity for you to make the best out of it. Don't let it go to waste. If you get a good job, that pays you well, you can also help your family financially and support them like they have always supported you. This I realized when my dad, instead of letting me work blue-collar jobs to earn some money initially when I had no experience and was looking for a job, let me work at a job related to the tech field that would give me a lot of experience for future work. He told me not to worry about expenses and sent me money to support me even though he had to take a loan for that. This is the sacrifice of parents.
Now that I have been in Canada for many years, I realize that all this could have been avoided. To get a tech job with no experience, you don't need to go work unpaid jobs to get experience. rather you can build your portfolio strategically. I will talk more about this in my next video. For now, I can tell you that you should go to hackathons and start building lots of projects to put in your resume so you can get more offers.
Finally in this video on my story of getting a tech job with no experience, I share my first job application and what struggles I had to go through to put it together.
I hope you enjoy the content and let me know what more of you would like to see in the comments.
Thank you for all your support ❤️
