I get Paulie's point of Shakur frustrated of not getting big fights. But Navarette just moved up from 126lbs to 130lbs and won a title and Shakur is mad that he doesn't immediately go up another weightclass to 135lbs to fight him in what would be Naverette's first fight at that weight. That fight is not Shakur chasing greatness.It is going after a popular fighter going up in weight in his first fight were he would have the advantage. The point Teddy was making.

It's Shakur's fault that he lost a lot of the attention he was getting. No one told him to literally run away in the ring against De Los Santos (not sure what he was thinking). He's making himself look like even less of a fighter by whining like this on social media. He needs to grow up a little. On second thought, A LOT.
In case you missed the reports he had a hand and I believe a shoulder injury .. If he had said so before the fight and /or backed out , ppl would be putting him down for that as well and saying he was just scared to fight ..SMH

@@skoolboy609215Tank doesn't care about titles. Is he even a real champion? Tank is a prize fighter thru and thru. Fights for money and money only. He understands that his value depends on him winning. Especially knocking people out. Tank's not fighting any fight where he has to bend over to the rules of any commission or sanctioning body. He's not fighting against anyone that won't bend to his rules and stipulations before the fight.
Tank would never go in the ring hurt agaisnt anyone he can't beat. This example is just not relevant at all because Tank's a different type of fighter.
Benavidez wasn't disciplined. This cost him his legacy so far. A prize fighter that didn't know he wanted legacy until someone else got it first in his own division. Somewhat a good example but not quite.
Do you really believe Shakur is not disciplined? He's supposed to be a gym rat. Why couldn't he make weight? The guy miscalculated his body mass ratio. He's always in the gym and put on a pund or two more of muscle than he realized. Didn't find out until he was at camp. But he wasn't about to dehydrate himself even further than usual for those two pounds. It wasn't healthy. And he's right about it. Point is, Shakur has gone for legacy. So what that tells me is that he won't put his health in risk more than he already has to once inside the ring. Smart choice. All boxers should. If they know they have a legit health condition that will cost them the fight, they should pull out, with proof of course. Because losing will devalue their stock. But entering the ring with a sever injury can cost them their life.
Now, with that being said, not all these injury everyone uses as excuses are worthy of costing them the fight let alone their life. So we do have to use common sense when choosing to believe in every injury.
The fighters history matters too. Shakur won't even put his titles over he's health over weight issues. Why would he go into a fight with an injury that would cost him the fight? He may have been injured but he believed it didn't matter. Shakur found out in the ring that De Los Santos could put him to sleep if he wasn't careful so Shakur went on the defense the whole fight. Nothing to do with his injuries

If he's not getting the fights he wants, then he needs to go on social media and call these fighters out. He's in a weight class where there's no shortage of big name fighters to call out. The best way to stay relevant is to stay active. He should be fighting twice a year, not once every two years.

my guess about behind the scenes: Shakur has one fight left on TR contract. TR probably not going to give him Navarette or Loma on the last fight of his deal, knowing he could beat either one and then walk (with the belts). TR probably wants to keep him and will need fights to offer him. Personally, I think he should move up to 140 and possibly go to matchroom

Hearing was old and small, true. Shakur only fights small slow guys. We all saw what happened with De los Santos, he was afraid the engage him. That was his opportunity to show his greatness and he failed miserably. Oscar Valdés was also small and slow
