- 2Pac & Ice Cube were undoubtedly two of Hip Hop's biggest stars in the 90's, both stemming from the West Coast.
Their friendship started as admiration for one another, but it soon soured as they both progressed in their careers. Culminating in a disagreement and misunderstandings that lead to their beef.
This video delves into the reason why 2Pac & Ice Cube had beef with each other.

Did he say that ?
I think he said two thousand something...
Huh?? just watched it he said she died in 2016...lol

Cube is entitled to his opinion. When I watch poetic Justice lucky and Chicago are work buds. They arenât homies. They are acquaintances, if you watch they are very quick to disrespect towards each other not just playful jabs like friends. Thatâs my interpretation
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Thatâs a great point you make
Good analysis
They seem to not really like each other. Very toxic situationship

Snoop was the west coastâs leading artist when Pac was in prison
Fact
I agree !!đźđźđź
2pac from East New York
Right, where was this guy at?
No not a leading artist because you had eazy e lol and too short
90s Rap and Artists was Wild. There probably was a little Beef with them.. If Pac was still here today I'm sure both 2Pac and Cube would be Chill tho.
R.I.P. Tupac đ
Yeah thatâs true. Nothing they couldnât hash out
Well I will say that Cube Influenced Pac Directly or indirectly
Of course he did as did KRS ONE, Chuck D.
Pac was a mix of Public Enemy, NWA and Boogie Down Productions all rolled into one MC.
No he didn't
@@Kali_Bleuu he was a NWA fan
@@Kali_Bleuuyeah he did. PAC himself kinda admitted that
yea Pac said it himself, when he was with cube and ice t . but pac succeeded cube and cube got jealous. same way he got jealous of eazy e. Ice Cube lil petty jealousy and ego is never talked about.
I think Cube did the song a favor .The sample in between verses sounds messy whereas as the final version sounds smooth and linear
Yeah, by default
My thoughts exactly. It sounds like a demo version or b side.
Your channel is amazing, keep these videos coming!
Thank you for your kind words Alfie, Iâm glad to hear that you like my channel đ
No problem! Awaiting for a response.
Amazing breakdown and can you please do one on 2Pac and Mobb Deep?
Thank you for your kind words and suggestion. Will do
I donât think hate is the correct word to use. As a lifelong hip-hop fan, Iâm getting tired of CZcamsrs, trying to make certain rappers look bad for clicks and views. I love hip-hop and Iâm not saying there arenât real conspiracies out there but one of the biggest problems with the hip-hop fan today is they believe every conspiracy that is out there. Not all of us, but it feels like 90%.
If you look at who these two men are neither of these guys had a problem calling someone out. Ice Cube publicly beef with, NWA, Cypress Hill, Common, and on the first west side connection album that whole album was pretty much a giant disc album to the East Coast.
I think if they had a legitimate problem with each other to where they âhated â each other it wouldâve came out on wax without subliminals. Neither of these two were big on subliminals. They had no problem putting your name out there.
Now they have a small issue with each other? Yes, I do believe that in the early 90s for a short amount of time. But there are pictures of them out there. You can find online. Thereâs one out there where you see ice cube with his son and Tupac sitting together. Back when o shea Jackson Junior was still a baby. I think there beef was just whoâs going to be the most respected MC in the west at the time. I know today everyone likes to jump up and down like a kid on the short bus going to the zoo for the first time screaming âbut Tupac was really from New York.â
Do younger hip-hop fans yes, he was born in New York but his entire rap career he was living in California. He started in Northern California and then he ended it in Southern California. The whole time he was alive. Most of us didnât even know he was born in New York he was considered a West Coast rapper his entire time he was alive. it wasnât until the Internet became a daily thing in all of our lives where people acted like he was born in New York, grew up in New York started wrapping in New York and then signed to death row and moved to California. Thatâs not what happened. Tupac was a West Coast rapper.
cube did hate pac he sneaked dissed him on a song where cube "this aint no california love its california slugs" thats a sneak diss completly
He was probably dissin Dre. There were a lot of Cube disses on the Chronic that never really get talked about.
â@@johnm994 I thought Cube and Dre squashed their beef already by then, Cube even made a cameo in Dre's "Let Me Ride" video roughly 9 months after The Chronic was released.
That was no sneak diss.
Cube also used a fake tupac actor wearing a red shirt, kiss his ring and bow, in the Westside Connection Bow Down video
People hate on cube ,he did alot for music people don't realize pac was influenced by cube and was an inspiration, I believe they both was envious of eachother in a small way but cube paved the way for pac and pac excelled but cube has shown to be still be relevant doing things business wise ,shout out both cube and pac
9 times out of 10, theres always a B!t@h involved!!!!
Yes, thatâs very true. Well said
Who hates on Cube at that time?
no Cube was jealous of Pac cus PAc succeeded him. Tupac felt betrayed cus Cube didnt want to be cool with him no more. go watch the documentary. this was a one sided hate
Pac was influenced by Cube in his early years in the rap game. For example, in 1992, "Troublesome 21" the proyect that endup being "Strickly 4 My Niggaz" album, had unreleased songs were Pac sounded similar to Cube's style. If you didn't listen you should do.
The same happend the oposite way years after, when Cube started in West Side Connection. Clearly with a sound and style similar to Pac's one.
So they both influenced each other. 2 legends 4 ever. I got love 4 both.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Thanks man! I've reached out.
Thanks Kevin đ
Pac was tripping about the Westside Connection stuff, Cube, Mack and WC dropped both Westside Slaughterhouse and West Up! in 95, while Pac was in jail, well before Hit Em Up or any of his tracks going at the east coast. I'm a massive Pac fan and always will be but dude was seriously paranoid about everything in 96, and sometimes he was just wrong.
This is the truth. I also think pac took the west side hand sign from cube, not knowing cube took it from Kam. Kam dissed cube saying the w stands for watts.
I seen a pic of pac and kam throwing up the west
Yeah, it's true, after getting shot and betrayed by his friends, Pac became paranoid and thought everyone was going after him. Nas, Mob Deep, LL Cool J, Fugees, Ice Cube and Xzibit.
@@j04370859 yeah, getting almost killed tends to do that to you... Well, that and copious amounts of weed and alcohol lol

Only wise will see the jealousy in Cube. PAC out shine him I can feel his pain. PAC is better than cube take or leave.
Pac was a hater who attacked whole east coast and was a homosexual. Just watch his interview at age 17. That's who he really was. An actor
â@@Bone_youtube_soft
He didn't attack the whole East Coast. His problem was with Badboy and those who involved themselves. Method man and Redman was on all eyes on me. Get a clue before yapping.
@@one-day-at-a-time4134 he was an emotional feminine kid trying to be down. That's why he got shot twice for running his mouth and getting into it with REAL gangsters
@Bone_youtube_soft
You sound a bit dense. Lol. Have a good day.
â@@Bone_youtube_softI watched the beef in 1996 when I was 14. To this day haters double down on the same things they have been saying for 30 years. It was corny then and it is even cornier now. 2pac dissed the Illuminati so anybody dissing 2pac just sounds illuminati confirmed. That's the issue. Black men who matter are real black men who don't are fake. Everything you are saying is fake. So you don't matter. The illuminati needs to find better things to do then lose battles dissing a rapper that has been dead 30 years, the shit is pathetic.

Cube will probably deny it because itâll hurt his brand but he did diss Tupac when he was alive , he dissed him on jacken for beats and west up.
Yep, very true. He even shades him til this day. Saying PAC went too far on Hit Em Up and not evening mentioning at 1 of the top hip hop artists
@@LyricalHipHopOfficial Tupac has some good songs but he is way overrated đ€·đœââïž
Overrated? I don't think he was overrated.
Jackin for Beats was made in 1990 Cube was not even thinking about Tupac in that time.
Where did Cube diss pac on Jackin For Beats? Or are u guys just making things up now?
They actually showed us"Boyz In The Hood" in my "Urban Studies" course at Michigan State University!! đź

Ice cube and 2Pac all my favorite rappers from the 90s they had issues when they met each other. It was cool in the beginning. But both are the best writers in hip-Hop they both legends in the rap game
Cube didnât hate PAC he just wanted pac to get his own shine he didnât feel like pac needed his voice sampled on the âDear Mamaâ he felt like it was a such great song it would blow up without him or yo-yo and he was right.
Canât confirm or deny. But what about the âCalifornia Slugâ line?
Cube hated Pac because he was rapping that revolutionary shii while Pac was living it and born in it. 2pac had Solid dudes vouching for him like Monster Kody and Khalid Muhammad who both called out Cube for not living the shyt that he rapped about.

đ„â€ïžđïž
As Death Row took off so did DJ Quik, the Lunizâs, E-
40, and several other West stars blew up Cube feared irrelevance because Snoop,Dre and Pac had become the faces of the West like he was in the late 80âs til 91/92 and you can see the subtle changes to Cubes music itâs was social political consciousness then he became more Black on Black hood violent in his subject matter from anti government rants to checking other outta pocket racial groups to throwing up Wâs to having that Set tripping vibe looking for conflict thatâs when people immediately noticed the comparisons had Cube not formed W.C.C he was rapidly becoming obsolete and didnât want to fade from relevance like Public Enemy did.
The dude kissing Cube ring on Bow Down was obviously pre Death Row Pac, but okay...
Man if pac would have went at commen it would have been over for common common lucky
For real
I think pac was just bit disappointed by his hero not defending against disrespect from east against the overall west..while pac as a âless establishedâ guy wouldnât let that pass ..and unfortunately then itâs that cube followed
I don't vibe with Ice cube anymore, but I would have to agree, I didn't like the part of the movie where Pac turned on his Friend for a chick he just met, but furthermore didn't even like in the beginning. This is the difference between a man and a woman. A woman never would've done that to her homegirl, but a man would do that to his homie. Men try to impress women more than woman try to impress men
Yet cube talks about no Vaseline đđœ
To me, Cube is the most underrated rapper of all time. Easily top 10. People associate him with movies but had an all-time 3 album stretch. But comparing him to someone like Pac ain't right. Pac is the most significant artist of all time. It's not ironic that the Bay shows more love to Pac than LA does. Once Pac signed to Death Row, in weeks and months, he proceeded to take LA from Dre, Snoop, and Cube. Im sure the competitive juices took over and led to some hate.
That's very true. Well said.
Wow he didnt have him in his top 15 that speaks volumes...
I know right lol
No it donât thatâs his personal opinion why yall mad
Ice Cube 4 life
Why was Pac in the Natural Born Killers video with Dre and Cube if they had beef?
They had beef after the fact.
@LyricalHipHopOfficial Over what? During that time Pac got shot at quad studios in NY and went to jail shortly after. Cube was promoting the Lethal Injection album and getting ready to produce Friday. They were on totally separate paths in life.
Pac played with his yo yo
đ
Lol đ
They recorded a song together called last words and pac got the role in poetic justice when ice cube turned it down. Wheres the hate?
Biggie and Pac recorded a song together called Running and Pac and Biggie sat and had lunch together. Whereâs the hate?
Cube didn't hate Pac. Stop the madness.
I really wish that these two chaps had of just swallowed their pride and just made up. They could have met up and had a man to man chat over a nice cup of tea, or a even a couple of bottles of '40' and talked it through.
No drive by's, no popping caps at each other just two men being proper men.
Think of what could have been... Collaborations on songs, even a joint album or something like that.
I hope that people learn by these homies mistakes and stop and think before reaching for their 'nine'.

C'mon man. This is reaching. Pac saw cube as an influence. Plus they have a dope ass song together
How is this reaching? So just cause someone once saw you as an influence and had a âdopeâ song together, that means things canât change and they canât hate each other? Câmon bro
@@LyricalHipHopOfficial I just think hate is a strong word. Hip Hop is very competitive and you had a bunch of dominant West Coast leads that we're aiming for the top spot. Sounds like Cube had some envy towards Pac and possibly some deeper ill will since Pac was dating Yo Yo. A lot of artists were using each others slang so Pac tripping over the use of "Don" was showing his immature side when clearly hip hop at the time was inspired by the Godfather and others like Scarface... I think everything would have worked out if Pac lived. Regardless, this is a well put together video stating facts instead of opinions. Respect âđŸđđŸ

@@LyricalHipHopOfficial if youâre calling each other out on wax, thatâs a beef. If you have a personal altercation with each other, thatâs a beef. Two cats saying in separate interviews decades apart that they didnât care for one thing the other person did professionally is not a beef. Putting why Cube âhatesâ Pac is a grossly misleading way to characterize it all. Youâre welcome
Ah, thanks for enlightening us Fernando. For some reason I thought beef was: have a grudge, dislike, disagreement or problem with someone. So Iâm guess youâre claiming Cube likes Pac?
@@LyricalHipHopOfficial those things could be but not this lol I thought you might have something I didn't know about in the vid, but no. Like I said, different interviews, different decades.
As to your question; yeah I do. Cube is a snake in the industry a little, at least he used to be, but I think he gets along with others for the most part. All his old beefs are pretty much squashed. He didn't have an issue with Pac while he was around
If anything, you would have a better argument saying Pac had an issue with Cube for how he grifted the East vs West mantra for himself. There's a different interview than the one you played where he sounds a little more intense about the situation.
