- Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata 1st Movement Best Version Recording Performance with a Great Piano Solo maltmarketing.com/ The full title of this great work by Ludwig van Beethoven is the 1st Movement Adagio Sostenuto from the Piano Sonata No. 14 Op. 27 in C sharp minor. The work was completed in 1801 and dedicated to Countess Giulietta Guicciardi a piano student of the composer. The sonata consists of three movements: 1. Adagio sostenuto; 2. Allegretto; 3. Presto agitato, although it is the 1st that is arguably the most recognised with its melancholic mood. The popular name “Moonlight Sonata” originates from comments made by the German music critic and poet Ludwig Rellstab, who compared the sound of the 1st movement to that of moonlight on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. Beethoven was born on the 17th December 1770 in the city of Bonn on the banks of the Rhine in Germany. He developed his musical skills early aided by his father and by a composer - Christian Gottlob Neefe. By the age of 21 he had moved to Vienna where he developed into a virtuoso pianist and studied composition with Joseph Haydn. Unfortunately, towards his last 20s his hearing started to weaken and in his last decade he was virtually completely deaf. This hampered his public performances but many of his great works came from that later period. Beethoven died on 26th March 1827 at the age of 56 - his funeral procession was attended by no less than 20,000 - mainly Viennese citizens. He was initially buried in the Währing cemetery, but later moved to Vienna's Zentralfriedhof. This Recording is from the CZcams Audio Library and there is no attribution attached. However, we have checked this with our Audio Recognition App and it gives us Jenő Jandó a Hungarian pianist and Professor of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Seems to be tuned to 443 Hz and in C# minor. Are you trying to summon demons?
Thanks. I'm not sure about summoning demons. The name Moonlight Sonata comes the German music critic and poet Ludwig Rellstab. In 1832, Rellstab likened the effect of the first movement to that of moonlight shining upon Lake Lucerne.
