Beethoven Sonata # 14 "Moonlight" Op. 27 No. 2 Valentina Lisitsa

- Hello all. This is the original complete recording of the Sonata the way it was meant to be. Back in those days there was a 10 minutes file limit and therefore I had to split performance in 2 parts. The 3rd movement went viral while the first file did not. Playlist does not work in the opposite way and there are hundreds of channels that stole my recording and rebroadcast it in full. So I should have it published as it was played. Enjoy! I think when performed complete the concept of the performance is different.
00:01 I. Adagio sostenuto
05:17 II. Allegretto
07:35 III. Presto agitato

Hello Valentina,
Yes, I remember. This 1st part made me want to learn piano at 57 years of age, now 6 years ago, It took me a year to nearly complete this 1st part up to halfway the last page, trying to copy you as good as possible. At the end I even could play it with my eyes closed. Need to take it up again and finish that last page.
Thank you so much.. I would be lost without music.
Congratulations on learning a new skill at that age. Hope I'll still be able to when at that age. xx
♥♥♥♥♥
You DID "take it up again"...didn't you?
~ Patiently awaiting the upload. ;)
That's a beautiful story. I'm beginning at 37. She's a huge inspiration.
@@2pi628 yes, again grom the first page and a lot is still in my fingers. Now I read the music but still with difficulty. Left hand part is easy.
her third movement cannot be eclipsed for the following hundred years. it is as perfect as it can possibly get
oh, she can improve herself and defeat the old ones tho lol
We just have to check it out in a hundred years
@@Greycat590 I'll still be around just to make sure😀😉
I can get close to her speed on the third movement, but she makes not nearly as many mistakes as I when I play it. She has executed the entire song as a master.
The only one that compares in my opinion is Glenn Gould, although his interpretation is wildly different.
My god, her 3rd movement gives me chills. Such pace and clarity. Just unreal, her technique is magical.
You are right ❤️🔥
I am at 3:55 am.. sleepless night can be beautiful
Almost 20 years and I keep coming back to her version. Classical music is so unique bc each player can make it sound so unique- yet a listener has a preference
14 minutes of the most splendid piece of music ever written? Sign me up! This, especially the third movement, is just stunning. I am in awe of this skill.
I even watched the ads, just to make sure she gets paid a little bit.
:)
:)
(:
You wonder if even Beethoven himself would have realised that his works could be played with this delicacy, depth and intensity. What an enjoyable performance. Having a wonderful evening listening to music on youtube and this caps it.
Wonder how stoked our boy Ludwig would be knowing thousands of people are still enjoying his piece 222 years later :)
10:45 THE TRANSITION GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS
I don't think Beethoven would have played it the exact way you did. You brought a lot of romanticism to that masterpiece and made it yours. Thank you for sharing this
I encountered a gas explosion a few years ago.
The days of hospitalization and treatment were lonely and painful.
I don't know how many years have passed since then.
This music is my healing. Thanks.
Hi~! Valentina💖 Thanks .
Now I'm sick and resting. I need some relaxation time. I will stop commenting until I feel better.
I'm not in the right frame of mind to handle this. Thank you so much for the wonderful time, I had such a good time.
@@flowerdiary9689 how have you been doing?
This is without a doubt the best performance of this piece I've ever heard and I come back to listen again many times.
She is magnificent!
As do I good sir. I rewatch this frequently.
I agree. This song gives me the chills when she plays ❤
This is the best performance I have ever heard. Just unbelievable! I listen to it many times and again and again ... just an unearthly performance. Bravo!
Tiffany Poon was soo good in Part 1. But she definitely failed Lisitsa in Parts 2 and 3
Despite all that the internet offers, I continue to return to her again and again. Her performances are empyreal.
I always want to cry when I listen to your rendition of the 3rd movement, it is so great there are no words to describe it.
Such precise yet seamless hand movements. Almost feels like her hands have consciousness of their own and she's just enjoying the show
I agree. It's like, "What is this? What is that? Pretty cool."
There is a mysterious spiritual force here...
Oh wow, the third movement made me dizzy, and I mean this in the most appreciative way possible. Outstanding performance.
the beautiful sensitivity of touch that Valentina has in this performance makes the opening movement seem to float so gracefully along, dreamily. Then, the 2nds movement so cheerfully wakes you back up, and says get ready for a quick (but adventurous) trip back home, and Valentina then pounces into that great, rush-home, final movement. I've never hear another pianist do *quite* the dramatic performance of this one. There are more than a few really great pianists out there, but for this particular piece, Lisitsa's performance is the most dramatic.
Top Tip for everyone.... listen to this ... and then click the start and listen to it again.... as its as perfect as it can be... and just how the great man wanted it to sound... prefection... love love love it.... wonderful Valentina...thank you... Yoki..
When you listen, you feel every single tone she plays. When you watch her fingers go gentle on the keys you feel their thrill, and when she smashes them it feels that they were brought to life. By time, when you listen to it over and over, you understand that this piece was Beethoven's secret message to Valentina.
Just be quiet man. No need to be so dramatic
yeah I think everyone is being way too stuffy with it. She played it probably the best I've ever seen and the sonata is amazing (apart from 2nd lol) but just chill on the stories and shiz.
Throwback, one of the video that bought Valentina to her success.
tailspao Su she didn’t get success from Utube she got it from practice and dedication
It was actually her rachmaninoff etude
@@PXNDXPIPE yep been watyching her over a decade now damn
All from memory. That’s the most amazing part of the entire beautiful performance
That's the easy part after you've practiced it 1000 times
@@ryana7313 For real. Its borderline disrespectful to the skill on display here. Any damn fool can memorize something and forget it right after.
When a child is born of parents who love each, there is nothing but goodness in his heart. Valentina was blessed richly
I've heard a number of pianists perform Sonata #14 and to me, this is the definitive performance.
really? Its a little rushed in my opinion.. Grand. If it make you happy then its great. I just don't hear it. Its funny how we hear things differently. Its honestly a really bad version to me.
I hate saying that but yeah. Bad.
I. might be a bit spoiled.
yeah the whole thing is rushed to me.
love the playing but it is rushed.
Sorry
In Canada we LOVE Valentina Lisitsa's brilliant, sublime playing... another breathtakingly beautiful artist that won't be silenced or ignored by us, your faithful fans!!!! Kisses to you.
I got obsessed with this piece a few years ago and someone recommended me to listen to Lisitsa's performance. I don't think I have ever being so grateful to someone. After so long I still love this performance more than anything, more than anything, exept her graceful way to play.
The emotion of the pianists is incredible, something that takes over. Lady Valentina Lisitsa is super, great.
This is where every musician should come if they want to know how to play music. Absolutely astounding
Great
Valentina simply is my favorite piano performer. No one else plays this powerful (and fast), while still being precise and moving.
Her hands seem to move at lightning speed at the last movement!! The amount of pure skill expressed by her playing gives me chills!! I really hope to see her perform live some day!
With all due respect to her incredible talent to present us what has been created by an absolute musical genius - centuries ago - Ludwig Beethoven,
Holy smoke! Right from Beethoven's eternal soul, through you, and out your fingertips! Transportive and deeply spiritual. Unearthly beauty in every note. Brava!
Gosh, what an awesome performance 😍😍I was hypnotized by her hands. It's my most favorite piece of music for piano and I already heard it soooo many times and watched sooo many different performances of it but I never saw this kind of fingerwork . It looks like she's making love with the piano. Absolutely incredible and totally awesome 😍😍😍
January 2024, this masterpiece played by her resonates with the loss of my little brother 💔. Thank you ⚘️!
💔
This is amazing! I've heard so many renditions of Moonlight Sonata that are emotionless and sound like people have metronome in their ear while they're playing (some of which have thousands of likes on here), and this is just the exact opposite. Perfect variations in tempo and velocity that make me feel something! Amazing!
My goodness.....phew!...what a marvellous masterpiece but also the incredible skill of Valentina Lisitsa to play it. Bravo!
That is the best performance I‘ve ever heard about this masterpiece!
From goosebumps to tears, everything is included.
And don't forget to thank the creator of this masterpiece. Ludwig van Beethoven.
Who in their life born recently can play Beethoven like this. Classic example of time travel and understanding of the music
You can't play it too fast. You can't play it too slow. And you can't play it like a computer.
I have watched and listened to this performance for 3 years. and I'm still left in awe at the beauty at Beethoven's composition and your accuracy. You are truly inspiring
Empress of the Universe 🌞🌃🌹
One of the best pianists in the world, if not the best! Thank you for sharing ❤️
I can't believe i only discovered you today.
THANK you for the years and years of commitment, and focus, to make THIS happen.
Blessed Be.
One of my favourite performances of the famous Moonlight Sonata. Bravo!

She’s a female
Second movement is shit
Stunning playing and the interpretation is spot on. Beethoven would have been smiling had he heard this.
*Valentina, I just wanna express how much I appreciate your music. I've formed a habit of listening to your performance of Beethoven "Moonlight" Sonata 3rd movement before studying, or doing any tasks that require mental focus. I even bookmark it in my browser. No matter how many times I've listened to it, I always can't help but exclaim "How could she do it?". You've inspired me to enjoy classical music so much.*
Best performance I've ever heard!
Bravo!
Played with elegance and emotion 👏👏👏👏
Her fingertips feel the emotions of the music ...WOW!
Thanks to Beethoven .Thanks to Valentina. I will keep Music as a memory of Mankind.
Why a memory,
Music has never been more alive
ridgerunner wapiti you're welcome
Ludwing van Beethoven lol
Are you off to visit other planets or something?
dumb adults
This is the best recording of the 3rd movement that I've heard in over 20 years.
This is by far the best recording of the third movement I have ever heard. So fast and yet so clear! Bravo Valentina, you are at the top of your art!
I couldn't agree more!
So you must have heard just a few of them ... Not the best, far from it.
@@JulienC-re5jvwhat’s the best then?
She literally makes the piano sing.
This is almost a mediumistic approach. Really truly high-leveled good stuff! The notes practically play themselves. Adagio Sostenuto's second period of bar 39, in its relentless gloom is the point I always struggle to survive. This whole performance, together with those by Baremboim and Horowitz, is something all music lovers need to hear!
Standing ovation, your 3rd movement is just outstanding
Performed exactly as Beethoven had intended ... Absolutely prefect! 👏👏👏
Simply amazing. I often heard Beethoven purposely wrote his works difficult to play and few musicians wanted to work with him due to their challenging nature. I think you would have amazed him. Thank you Valentina. Bravissima!!
Yea I agree, she uses every technique right down to sliding the keys for that perfectly smooth transition between notes.... amazing!
Hello Valentina.
I stumbled on this by accident after watching a young girl play #3 on guitar. I'm so glad I found your performance. Your skill, interpretation and grace is simply amazing. Absolutely captivating and wonderful to watch. My mother played all 3 movements for her major from Marywood back in 1957. Still by far my favorite from Ludwig.....never gets old! Thank you for sharing this with the world!
Here and now, after 11 years knowing You, I want to say again that I never have been amazed for no one but You. You're the Greatest of all times, man or woman, maybe your gift show us that You are an Angel!!! Thanks Valentina for share your gorgeous Talent with us the simple mortals! LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!
Superb. I love the interpretations by Lisitsa.
Her pace and the way she strokes those keys is amazing. Never gets old.
I actually almost cried during the 3rd movement. Wonderful. Thank you so much.
She is definitely my favorite pianist in the classical genre. I hope I get to see her perform live one day.
One of the best versions I ever heard, bravo Valentina
Why does she look so much like beethoven himself sitting at the piano? Her fingers don't even seem to move...they just float and that magnificent sound emerges out of nowhere as if. Magical.
Bent over the keys as such, i thought the very same! Dynamic!!
They just glide
I'm always awestruck by her - love this music
Is it a transgender and a man pls? Thanks
@@sarahisaiah1 no. Definitely not.
Magical performance from a magical player.
How could anyone not love this she is the best musician I’ve heard. Would love to see what she could compose.
Must return every few months to refresh this vision of Olympus; both Beethoven's and Valentina's. Sublime!
Valentina, we met back at UNC Chapel Hill. Your Beethoven Sonata #14 has long since been the gold standard. Superb!
Now I could finally hear what the beethoven spectators really could hear. magnificent. What a gift.
I was crying nearly the whole time. This is so beautiful.
I have listened to this for years. It, among other of Valentina’s recordings, has changed my life.
I never truly understood this piece until I heard her play it and I can say that is true about so many others.
It has opened a world of possibilities to me as a musician. She is incredible.
Pure music, much love from Italy. Grazie Valentina💖
*the best available interpretation of this sonata, thank you Valentina*
I also love Fazil Say's interpretation.
or Arrau interpretation
Yes!! It doesn’t overdo it, it doesn’t get too clever.
It’s what my ear wants to hear
Vril society. Lol.
Best available is Glenn Gould
Astounded. Ms. Lisitska's lengthy and skilled performance is artistry at it's best-and this was my first time truly hearing the Third movement. Brava!
🖤 Just crying… thank you so much, Valentina 🖤
I never get tired of this beautiful piece of music ❤️
This is the best performance of this piece I have ever heard. The touch is amazing.
Beethoven would TOTALLY love and approve this performance!
Valentina Lisista is the only one who understands Beethoven and performs his music with 100% accuracy!
can you mention at least 3 other pianists who, in your opinion, come close?
Too bad he was deaf
Beethoven would be proud of Valentina. Superb!

This is one of the best performance of this melody that I have heard in my entire life.
Thank you so much Valentina for this poignant and touching performance! The moonlight sonata is one of my favourite pieces of ever.
The 3rd movement was the first video I watched and it was just last year. Since then, I can't stop watching your videos and I started studyng piano
I know this piece as well. She plays with grace and tenderly. Beethoven would be pleased.
My favorite Beethoven piano sonata, performed by my favorite classical pianist! Thank you so much for sharing this!!
Only if one day I could be like her!🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 I love her playing ❤️
The pain behind such beauty
This was absolutely fantastic. I really enjoyed watching you play. What a beautiful talent. Thank you for sharing
Thank you Valentina. I don't want to talk about how virtous you are. I just want to say that I am studing the third movement and your video is gold for me. A big hug from Italy.
It will never grow old
Every video gives me goosebumps. I'm no musician myself but I tend to recongize perfection when I hear it. My brain isn't able to analyse it but my heart soars like a hawk. Thank you for your amazing art.
Truly gifted! The passion and emotion with which you play is phenomenal! Magnificent, Bravo 👏
What emotion? She is technically brilliant but there is absolutely zero emotional depth. It's like a computer playing. Not for me.
Damn it's so beautiful. I am a big fan of you Valentina! Nobody would wonder why. You are the best pianist in the world! THANK YOU SO MUCH AS ALWAYS WITH THE BEST PIANO PERFORMANCE
