I have been listening to all of Valentinas performances for over 10 years now. I am a lover of all music. Rap, rock, metal, blues, and all classical. I've always loved classical pianists the most. I've tried to listen to who the critics say are the best, but nobody comes close to touching the soul like Valentina. This woman has no equal. You would have to be insane to criticize her in favor of any other pianist in the world. I've compared her to all. There is no comparison. I will continue to listen to her performances over and over forever. It will continue to get me through the tough times in life.
I listen to this all this time, and normally the coughing doesn't bother me. But today, for some reason, it has been frustrating to listen to. But lol. True.
What's also nice is the "hey let's open the crunchy packaging of candy and then munch it furiously with our loud dentures during a piano concert" crowd.
There was a video on the internet this morning. A lady had a piano out in the countryside, in I assume Africa. She was playing Movement two of Beethoven's Pathetique for an elephant, who stood there beside her listening and making a musical sound. It made me gloriously happy. Nothing is more beautiful than Movement two of Beethoven's Sonata No. 8.
I do not believe I have ever heard this played with such a high degree of expression - throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed this performance by Ms. Lisitsa. Her dexterity was impressive, as usual. Ron
@@therealconniefrancis I was going to say this is unusual slower than I expected her to play it. But she picks up tempo later. I think a lot of Beethoven is played too slow in general. Remember his was a student of Mozart, and contemporary composers also wrote fast sonatas. The piece suddenly opens up and you hear some Liszt and Chopin in it! Playing Beethoven slowly bring its own set of problems, the fingering becomes a case of perfect timing and you get some strange Bossa Nova rhythms into it, to get your timing right.
Bravo! As for me, Beethoven's work is absolutely about "time and tempo". IMO, Valentina Lisitsa is the most accomplished pianist of any I've heard (I'm 69 years old and heard many), and whose interpretation is flawless (Beethoven and others)! Her interpretation of Sonata, OP 27, Mov 1, 2 & 3 shows this as much as any other Beethoven's work. Ms. Lisitsa proves her expertise in time and tempo with her rendition of Moonlight Sonata above ALL pianist throughout 'recording' history.
Krystian Zimmerman! This is what is said about him: Music for Krystian Zimerman is the art of organizing emotions in time. The Polish pianist's interpretations of everything from Beethoven and Chopin to Schubert and Szymanowski reveal infinite expressive subtleties and the underlying clarity of his story-telling through music. Zimerman's place among today's greatest artists remains not least on the freshness and originality of his performances, always intensely personal and prepared in meticulous detail. He may study a work for decades, exploring every facet and contemplating its meaning before introducing it to his recital repertoire or taking it into the studio. His approach belongs to a dynamic process of creative evolution, one in which self-criticism, deep reflection and intuition play significant parts. “The final thing - that which art is made of - happens in the concert hall,” he notes.

As a pianist myself learning to play this beautiful Sonata my mind was totally focused on the pianist and her artistic interpretation. If people are coughing they need to so lets show empathy and compassion and instead express appreciation and gratitude for this beautiful performance by a gifted pianist.
So effortlessy well played ;_; and I'm so happy to finally listen to your performance because in one week I'll be competing in a piano competition with the 3rd movement
The second movement is simply enchanting. I didn't know until recently that it was the basis for the chorus of Billy Joel's "This Night". Imagine that! Beethoven and Billy Joel collaborating from centuries apart!
You're very very very talented! thankyou for playing such a beautiful song.. this is one of my favourites from Beethoven! and you got me in awe! Amazing! - forever your fans -
Valentina, again you played this beautifully and you play this sonata so elegantly with so much expression in all 3 movements. 1st movement is the best!!!

Michael
Du bist ein glücklicher Mensch, diese Erfahrung gemacht zu haben.
As a pianist myself learning to play this beautiful Sonata my mind was totally focused on the pianist and her artistic interpretation. If people are coughing they need to so lets show empathy and compassion and instead express appreciation and gratitude
for this beautiful performance by a gifted pianist.
If they have tuberculosis they should fucking LEAVE and go die in a ditch
Gracias Valentina, eres una pianista fantástica.-
The demons are coughing in the background, trying to disrupt this angle's concentration. They did not succeed.
Instead the demons have come back from their excusion to hell's flu day in order to agonize us innocent youtube commenters
angel* :P
angle* duhh
Bagel's*
You are moron.
So effortlessy well played ;_; and I'm so happy to finally listen to your performance because in one week I'll be competing in a piano competition with the 3rd movement
Wonderful, you just let this piece of hard work sound like a walk in the park. I love it!
The second movement is simply enchanting. I didn't know until recently that it was the basis for the chorus of Billy Joel's "This Night". Imagine that! Beethoven and Billy Joel collaborating from centuries apart!
Also a John Lennon song 'Grow Old With Me' (an unfortunate sentiment) on Milk and Honey.
After watching/listening to this I see her as one of the greatest alive
The greatest interpretation of the pathetic I had never seen! Super beautiful and romantic and full of power!
You're very very very talented!
thankyou for playing such a beautiful song..
this is one of my favourites from Beethoven!
and you got me in awe!
Amazing!
- forever your fans -
Breathtaking.
Your playing is absolutely wonderful.
Thank you so much
Valentina, again you played this beautifully and you play this sonata so elegantly with so much expression in all 3 movements. 1st movement is the best!!!
And now imagine, that person who've coughed a lot is dying from lung cancer and this is his last minutes wish, to hear his daughter play piano live in concert.
