Got a link for Adam's missing dynamite?
If I'm not mistaken you missed the strap on the sunglasses 😎 👌
I didn't even think about the dynamite
You missed 2 parts to the costume....
But were you recognized??
I was the Jango Fett costume, it was my first cosplaying and i had a blast thanks again for the picture Adam!
Great costume!
That was an awesome costume!
Glad you had fun Zab!
You looked amazing :)
Did u recognise Adam?
*40 years later and the movie still holds up to these day. What a classic.*
electric ladyland is the best
Masterpiece despite any flaws it might have.
Just rewatched The Thing and I’ve got to say it STILL holds up to this day, practical effects are always the way to go.
Honestly if you watch Corridor Crew enough (of which Adam has appeared a couple of time for their VFX artists react episodes) you realise it's not that one is better that the other and it's more about A, having the time to get the work done properly and b, knowing which medium is best for the FX shot that you want to achieve
The Thing is nearly flawless IMO. The only ‘thing’ wrong with it is when Palmer briefly walks by Macready before stumbling outside (it’s clearly a moving rack) but that’s not enough for me to discredit the film.
It’s still the greatest Horror Sci-fi out there (Alien competes but I think of that as Sci-fi horror rather than horror sci-fi)
What was the part he forgot to make?
Totally agree with you. Rob Bottin's Practical affects in the Thing are mind blowing and still hold up today . I feel Rob doesn't get the level of credit that say Tom Savini has gotten over the years.
@@theseventhnight i agree with that conclusion, I still think VFX has a couple more years to come once Ray-Tracing is in its golden years, lighting is one of if not the most sold aspect of practical effects in it’s own merit, but I do think VFX will get there one day.
The dynamite and bandolier we're missing your costumes are always on point your skills as maker really show through in everything you do.
The second the beard and glasses went on, Adam disappeared and MacReady appeared. Absolutely awesome build. As for the missing part, dynamite? Maybe?
I'm guessing it's a BeeGees wig
ditto
Most definitely.
Love the way Adam disappeared for me. He was just gone the second that beard was up.
He was going to steal rolls of toilet paper from the hotel room...
Adam is a blessing to humanity. Hell, the entire Mythbusters team are credits to people.
1 love, bredren!
Nice costume. Kurt Russell as MacReady just oozed this effortless seeming antihero cool. The one-two punch of MacReady and Snake Plissken (not to mention Jack Burton, making it a hat trick) made him a legend.
Loved the costume! Was cool seeing another favorite CZcams creator Odin Makes with the cameo.
The [BEARD] carrier box is so incredibly on-brand, I love it. Would expect nothing less.
Reminds me of Phineas and Ferb and the meap emergency mustaches lol!
@@Valkonnen it’s a con, not a film. He doesn’t have to be perfect.
Can't help but wonder...whose hair is he wearing on his face??
@@Valkonnen
Not sure why yak hair is okay but human hair is Eeeyyuuuw!
*...but... yak hair **_is_** okay and human hair is **_Eeeyyuuuw!_*
@@Valkonnen
I don't understand either.
Having the face exposed is always nice with a layered costume like that. When it comes to stuff like boots, I've come to realize most people who even know what character you're doing will not notice they're not really correct so long as they're close. I've quit worrying about spending a fortune on pieces I can't make if the alternative is close enough and significantly cheaper.
Hugh Jackman once walked around a convention in full Wolverine costume and nobody realized it was really him rather than a really good cosplayer. Sometimes knowing how to wear a costume and carry yourself in it can do wonders to hide yourself
When I used to wear suit styled cosplays I'd always go for a short sleeved shirt. No one was gonna see my arms anyway lol.
lol, I could do my Saw Pig cosplay with super uncomfortable jungle boots, OR I could wear black sneakers. No one will notice.
@@Freckris If your jungle boots are uncomfortable, you had the wrong size. I wore them for years (by choice) and they were nearly the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.
DUDE!!!!! That is the best costume ever!!!!!
This outfit is legit! John Carpenters "The Thing" is one of, if not my favorite horror movies of all time. You look amazing in it! I'm super jealous. Add the dynamite, revolver and bandolier, maybe even throw a bit of fake frost on ur jacket and you will be identical! Good stuff my dude!
Fake frost would have nailed it!
I think a good idea for these would be for Adam should hire someone that looks very much like him, have a makeup team go to town on the both of them to make them as identical as possible, and then walk a convention together. I know he did the realistic masks but I think this would trip out people even more
Man wears a hat like that, you know he's not afraid of anything.
I think it's cunning.
Shiny.
#Browncoats! :D
“Yeah, FUCK YOU TOO!”
-Badasses who wear said hat
I made you the en-closed, to keep you warm in your tra-vels. Travels.
Man..I've watched this so many times, and it still never ceases to amaze me just how different Adam looks in that beard and glasses. Insane. This is why I love cosplay. You can do so much.
You did a GREAT JOB looking just like McReady!!
The only thing I can think of as missing from that scene was the bundle of dynamite he used to keep everyone from jumping him.
I think if he included those, he’d have EVERYONE jumping on him 😂😬
Dynamite and a flare.
Problem is, knowing the trigger happy US cops, it could have been the last episode of Adam Savage’s Tested 😬😅
@@nomenestomen3452 I know some of the people who do security there. If they didn't KNOW it was him, they wouldn't have even let something like that out of the parking lot.
Gloves
Love you met Odin there, you two would make an awesome creative duo , there would be no end of amazing props and cosplay
A colab projest would be awesome! 😍
As soon as you put the hood up...BAM! MacReady. Awesome job and what a great pick for a cosplay. Kudos my man!
When Adam put that beard on, something magical happened. Nice job!
I would have told my Mrs. "I got two them, one for me and one for you." Great job as always!
!
lol
Hey! Glad I made the video 7:41 you looked awesome, I was searching for someone with tanks on their back all weekend! 😄 thanks for the great con Adam, it was a blast meeting many of my prop and film Vfx heroes
You knew in advance that Adam was going to have tanks on his back? How?
@@coredumperror he shared a hint on his personal Instagram of a set of tanks regarding his costume for silicon
@@OilersWorkshop Ahhh, that makes sense. I only follow this channel, so I don't know about Adam's other socials.
One of my favorite movies. Well done.
Great convention Adam. Had a blast and loved the maker centric-ness of the show.
Whenever I see anyone in full costume now I just walk up to them and quietly ask if they are Adam Savage, someday I'll actually meet the real one.
It's also a really good compliment to their costume regardless!
It's so nice seeing Adam enjoy what he does, he such a cool guy
DUDE!! That is absolutely FANTASTIC!!
The missing bit is the dynamite on the belt/waist area. Beautiful costume, it was amazing how Adam disappeared at the end once the whole costume was on
Love all your cosplays but this is one of my favorites so far. The beard and glasses were completely transforming.
Absolutely incredible! One of my favorite movies. Amazing work!
One of my favorite movies, and just a totally sick costume!
They dynamite + bandolier! Amazing cosplay. I may have to do this for halloween rather than The Man in Black from Westworld S1.
Great stuff. I was thinking you could have incorporated a cooling system into the flamethrower body but cutting away the hotter parts of the rest of the costume works too!
I have a vintage Schott jacket like that, they are made for very cold conditions, he was truly paying in sweat for wearing it.
the TNT holster. Amazing work as usual
WOW! amazing, even the walking down pat. Yup, the sunglasses and beard made it all happen.
great to do such an iconic character by such a great actor!
I love The Thing, and have done for years. Absolutely awesome job!!
The Thing is what started my love of Horror and movies in general. Still in my personal Top 5, if not number one. Seeing this Cosplay just resonates hard with me. Love it!
Mine too it’s got it all, carpenters greatest work imho
I remember watching it on basic cable at 10pm when I was 7 years old. Absolutely terrified me and set off a fear that, alongside the Xenomorph and the Predator (two other late night basic cable movies..), the Thing lived underneath my bed in some movie monster alliance. Love the movie now but man.. the 90s were wild with what they allowed on TV sometimes.
If you haven't, check out The Things by Peter Watts
Perfect! So awesome!!!
Thanks for this Adam, love it!
This weirdly coinciding with The Thing becoming my favorite movie, love the costume, saw the thing creature build recently as well, awesome work
I absolutely love it. There’s something I find comforting about it, even though it’s a really intense and horrific movie.
That might be my favorite costume yet. Looks like you walked right out of the movie.
My favorite scene from my favorite horror movie! Great job!
The Thing is amazing and your cosplay is perfect.
Awesome video Adam! Love the consistency and look forward to your awesome ideas in the future for costumes!
Classic. One of the best horror movies of all times.
Fun Fact... Mac was the 2nd of 3 to get infected... :):)
Then there is the 2nd hidden story in the movie....
This is the greatest costume you have ever done! R.J. MacReady out
idk why but this cosplay just hit different. I feel star-struck through the computer screen. so good
Nice Cameo by Odin from Odin makes!
Amazing, as always! Love your attention to detail
yes yes yes!!!!! huge The Thing fan!!! Love that you dressed up as him!!!
Adam Savage never stop being so cool!
i would never suspect it was you. and would be more heartbroken after seeing that it was and not knowing. Thank you for the awesome content and bringing such great things to our lives. Cheers!
You forgot the gloves! Still looks awesome! One of my favorite movies! 😎
Sooo great, one of my favorite movies 👍👍
Awesome. Feel free to come to NYCC like this this year, please!
After you first showed the beards you got so long ago, I've been looking forward to this cosplay. Well done, Adam.
Awesome costume. Was super excited to find you on the floor. More excited now to have seen myself in this video, twice. Haha
That's so awesome!!!!
He'll yeah! Excellent movie btw. Love the apocalypse trilogies.
"You gotta be fuckin kiddin me"
Love it.
Loved this costume and fun :) and nice to see fellow Canadian CZcamsr 7:30 Odin Makes :)
I knew i recognized that guy! Thanks for helping me remember where from.
I love Odin Makes’ channel.
CANADA!!
Isn't Odin Makes from San Diego?
@@thecorinthianguy You're right, he's American. Born, and still lives, in California.
One of the sickest cosplays ever
Wow awesome job Adam
How could you forget the dynamite? Great costume. The transformation is the most fascinating part: from one reality to another…
Finding those Vuarnets is probably worth an episode in itself. I remember when those became popular…all the cool rich kids had them.
Ahhhhh shit. How could I forget the dynamite?
I did a full Macready costume build on my channel and did NOT forget the dynamite. I also made jumping "Palmer" blood dish 🥰
Albeit my flamethrower is not as accurate, and is made from soda bottles and PVC piping. But for like $15 bucks worth of materials, I killed it ❤️
Was going to say the Dynamite as well.
I had a pair of cheap knock-offs when I was a teenager and I live in Florida.
i was thinking the lantern
Awesome job with that costume of such a timeless character from an equally timeless classic. As soon as you put the beard and glasses on, that was it, you did what The Thing couldn't do, you imitated Macready! Then again, had The Thing taken over Macready, it would have failed because no one can imitate that amazing beard of his LOL 😅😛
I'm gonna guess that the bit of the costume you missed was the J&B Whiskey bottle? 🤔
Amazing job!!!
loved seeing Odin,Joe & Bill!!
Awesome costume. The beard really put a nice bow on it all. =)
This is absolutely fantastic, Adam. I built a full Macready costume with flamethrower, dynamite, and Palmer jumping blood dish for Halloween last year, and did several build videos on my channel for the process. Then, I even went on to build a Kennel-Thing costume for my Blue Heeler 🤣
This turned out soooo friggin' good, my guy! 🥰
OK, I GOTTA see your dog’s costume. Please?
@@johnnyjohnson6643 it's pinned on my TikTok. Same screen name. Won't let me link here.
So awesome!!!
That was one hell of a transformation!
Adam, this is an amazing cosplay!
By the way, you said that you missed the part that can be made, so this is not a revolver and gloves... it's a bandolier with dynamite and molotov cocktails :)
Congratulations someone is trying to scam you. Ignore that.
@@salterclan and it's not UPS with an Amazon delivery at the cave 😂
@@salterclan thx. I know that :)
it must actually feel nice to be able to walk around incognito once in a while too. that's one spot on costume!
Wow!!!!!! Beautiful!!!!
Great idea for costume 👍🏾
Being obsessed with The Thing, i think the only thing missing is dynamite. Astounding cosplay and Im so jealous
and the gloves!
Looks like you had a blast! Glad you could go out with a bang for that day of the con. I can't imagine what was missing, but it was a dynamite costume. 🙂
mindblown
Looks Awesome !!
Wow thank you for bringing the awesome to SJ... LOVE IT!!
Dynamite missing?
Agreed. Definitely the dynamite
I think it looked pretty complete. About all I could see adding was some props like his Pick-axe, dynamite, lantern, or a bottle of J&B. Another effect you could have added was frost and ice to the beard, but that might be overkill.
You look absolutely wicked !! I totally love your MacReady Costume , I need one !!
yes! my favorite movie! you should do more "The Thing" related content!!
The Thing was on TV here in the UK just the other night.
Brilliant film. Back when special effects were 'special' and not simply GCI.
You should check out Prey, a lot of practical effects with CGI.
Prey is SO GREAT.
7:32 Hey, it's Odin! That guy is awesome! If y'all are unfamiliar, he's the bigger gentleman talking to Adam. You should check out his "Odin Makes" channel here on CZcams, he makes brilliant replicas of movie and game props, almost always all out of very affordable materials that can generally be found at the dollar store. He presents his build videos in a step-by-step format so if you were so inclined you could follow along with him. Definitely give him a like and subscribe!
The blink-and-you-miss-it Hondo Ohnaka cosplay in the beginning montage! Showing that Hondo love, excellent.
Fantastic
Holy cow! The gentleman you take the first pic with is Odin from Odin Makes. I have met him. I am one degree of separation from knowing Adam Savage!
I came on here to see if anyone else noticed that lol
Putting that beard on was such a transformation. Wow. Like, Superman / Clark Kent levels of "... you're someone else now."
After he put that beard on I was like "Where is Adam? What have you done to him? 😲" 😄
Most impressive! Like the tips of ripping out linings and trimming the hoodie!
The Thing has always been one of my favorite Scary movies.. Kurt Russell's "MacCready" The Take Charge Guy.... I also liked Wilford Brimley's character" Blair"... When he figures out what the alien creature is up to, and starts to smash everything. And they all think he's lost his mind.
Such a good movie..
Perfect triple bill - Escape from New York, The Thing, and Big Trouble in Little China. ✌️
Yooo, Odin Makes cameo
Amazing costume from an amazing movie.
That is the BEST hat ever! I always wanted one of them! My first date with my wife was trying to find one!
Great cosplay! You missed the dynamite though, but still full points. Well done.
Was it a bottle of booze?
6:50 loving this Old West Unibomber look, lol 😄
the dynamite cartridges...!! Love all the work you do and the inspiration that you are for thousands of people around the world... Greetings from Cancún, México...
