  • In this article, we will delve into the intriguing story of Terah, the idolatrous father of Abraham.
Terah plays a significant role in biblical history, and understanding his background and influence can shed light on the journey of faith undertaken by his famous son, Abraham.
Join us as we explore the life of Terah, his religious beliefs, and the impact he had on Abraham's spiritual journey.
    Terah: A Man of Idolatry
Terah was a prominent figure in ancient Mesopotamia, living in the city of Ur during the Chaldean dynasty.
He was known for his strong attachment to idol worship, a common practice among the people of that time. Terah's devotion to idols influenced the religious upbringing of his children, including Abraham.
    Terah's Belief in Multiple Gods
Terah, like many people in his era, believed in the existence of multiple gods. Each deity represented various aspects of life and nature, and people would worship these idols to seek favor, protection, or guidance.
The culture of idolatry was deeply ingrained in the society Terah lived in, shaping his worldview and religious practices.
    Influence on Abraham's Upbringing
Growing up in a household centered around idol worship, Abraham was exposed to these beliefs from an early age.
However, as Abraham embarked on his own spiritual journey, he began to question the validity of idolatry and sought a deeper understanding of the divine.

The Chaldeans didn't settle in Ur until somewhere around 900-801 BCE. Long after Abraham and even the Exodus.

According to the Book of Jasher, Abraham was raised for a time in the house of Noah and his son Shem, which is why he worshipped the Lord instead of the gods Terah.

@tiedyehobo it does in the books the catholic leaders took out, when they changed it to English for king James, they took it out because it stated who the real enemies of ABBA YAH"S people were, Rome has always and always will be their enemy, in the catholic Bible they took out things and added things to fit their beliefs, they took out the 4th commandment, in exodus chapter 20, & deuteromy chapter 4, about not to bow down before any idol : statue, in revelation 22; 18-19 whoever adds to the book, I will add all the plagues to them, whoever takes away from this book, he said he would take their name out of the book of life, it is blasphemy for the popes to state they our the father, son & holy spirit on earth, and no one can get into heaven except thru him, that is why the son called the pharisees & saddusies a brood of vipers, they were telling the people they were the only way they could be saved, keeping from the real truth, of each individual has to seek him on their own, it's not a ritual of going down before the church and confessing their sins and asking for forgiveness and the way to be saved, that is not even in the word, just like catholics have to go to the catholic priest to confess to him and get their sins forgiving, man can not forgive a person, they have to believe what the son did, and then seek the father for forgiveness John 14:6, I am the way to truth: the word. And life: having ABBA'S spirit, your spirit must be born again John chapter 3, this is what caused the sin, what Adam lost, taking the advice of the serpent: saran instead of what ABBA already told him about the tree of good & evil, by doing that Adam made Satan the God of this world, and his, it's like acting up in a negative thought, instead of what your conscience says, and what ABBA uses, Satan negative words in our mind about something or someone, whoever we listen to and act upon, will be the one we will serve and end up with, for all eternity. I have studied the word for 51 years, everyone needs to, it will keep you away from sin, or sin will keep you from the word

Technically, no one was called a “Jew” before the exile; however, the people who became known as Jews were a distinct ethnic group by the time of Exodus 1. They were a distinct clan by the time of Jacob and his sons. Abraham was a Gentile, that is, a member of one of the many nations that had developed by his time. The Jews came from Abraham because he was chosen by God from among the nations to be the origin of a new nation. The Jews of Jesus’ day looked to Abraham (not Jacob/Israel) as the head of their race (see Matthew 3:9; Luke 3:8; John 8:39; Acts 13:26; Galatians 3:7). If one is thinking in these terms, it would not be wrong to think of Abraham as “the first Jew,” although that’s not technically correct.

@ce6236 the Roman's gave them the slang name yude; Jew, because they live in Yudea : Judea & from tribe of Yahudah, Judah from Yasharel: israel. Abraham was called a Hebrew : eber : father of all Hebrews: Genesis 10:21 Genesis 14:15. There is only one tribe that is called a Jew, it's the royal bloodline of Judah, the others are Israeli, Israelite, Hebrew, but so are the Jews, they all come from Abraham, I am from the tribe of LEVI : LEWI, family names LEVITT & MYERS, there are a lot of RABBIS NAMED THAT, NOW, ZOLA LEVITT, HE IS PASSED NOW. BUT HE IS STILL ON CZcams

@@tiedyehobo false! Nimrod was Kush last son. Black is the colour of creation so you cannot use black here. You must be race specific. Secondly he was a mighty worrier but did not led a any rebellion against anyone. Men began to built strong cities and took men and women as slaves. Salah Eber father built a city long before, h built UR. Also all the the people on the earth that is Noah descendants began to built the city of babal to reach the heaven to see God. And this is why God came down, confused their language and send them off to their respective lands. He said if they all spoke Hebrew and could unite so well, what else can they not do. Don't blame this cult of Nimrod all of them were guilty.
