This is the tradational method used in my place, only difference is people clamp the lid to the pot to drain water, instead of colander . its nice your using this method, i think its healthy too, as it lowers the glycemic index.
@@boxlad7583 If you're in third world countries, you should wash the rice. There are usually quite a lot of debris and sometimes bugs on the rice in poorer countries. Even if the carcass would be drained away, you wouldn't want boiled bugs infusion in your rice. In first world countries, washing rice isn't usually necessary for safety reasons, as the rice would usually already be clean. But rather in first world countries, you would wash the rice to remove excess starch dust, which makes the rice more sticky. Depending on the kind of dish you're making, that stickiness may or may not be desirable.

Agreed! This method is healthy and delicious. Simple tricks like this make cooking fun.
This method also lowers the amount of arsenic in the rice
That’s cheating. 2 cups rice, 3 cups water. Knob of butter . Perfect and delicious
The result is rhe only thing which matters, so it's not cheating
You didnt wash the rice 😢
you're cooking it in a lot of water and draining it, so whatever dirt is on the rice will go with the water
