  • We talk about the lymphatic system a lot, but what exactly is the structure of a lymph node? What does it look like inside? What are the cells of a lymph node? What does it do? How does it work?
    Well, I'd take any immunology I talk about with a pinch of salt, but I can describe the anatomy of a lymph node. It might help you understand how the immune system works.

    (we've been covering GI physiology recently) Another fun function of the lymph is that the GI lymph structures transports lipid soluble nutrients to the circulatory system (bypassing the liver).

    thank you for taking the time to explain lymph nodes, it certainly helped me when I discuss with the specialists, at least now I have a small idea about the lymphatic system and how it works... thank you again

    How great is our God! Just trying to understand all this is even too much and yet there is still more to discover about the human being . Thank you Dr Webster , you’re a great teacher

    At the end you comment "see you next week, if you can bear it." I think your "ramblings" are the beginning of a new kind of education available through things like CZcams and to some extent through advanced reticulated data like that found on sites such as Wikipedia. It certainly outstrips my junior college anatomy course in terms of information density and detail of information presented.

    It isn't really scientific knowledge yet but according to my study and analysis the master gland of the lymphatic system is the eyeball...the dominant eyeball, which in my case is the RH eyeball. What happens is that because of the strains on our eyes the cerebrospinal fluid can't pass through the eyeball...it blocks...and a whole plethora of lymph circulation is stifled. It's early days yet but as a general exercise we should avoid eye strain via less television, less computers, less driving, and more understanding on how the eyes work because if we want to see things clearly we must begin by looking at our eyesight as a valuable tool of the lymphatic system.

    As a prostate cancer patient, post RP, with one positive node detected on ePLND, I wonder WHY the immune system does not detect these PC cancer cells as toxic and launch an immune response to them?

    • @SamWebster
      @SamWebster  Před 8 měsíci

      That is a role of the immune system. It doesn’t always work and some future therapies are looking at priming the immune system to properly target and remove a cancer that has developed.
