Based on the blockbuster films, this action-packed animated series starts a decade after the original Ghostbusters saved New York City from ghosts, goblins and ghouls. All the guys have left town, except Egon, now teaching a Paranormal Studies class at the local university. But Zuul, the all-powerful demon, has awakened from hibernation to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting masses. Desperate to recruit a new team, Egon and the plucky Janine turn to four of his teenage students: Kylie, a genius with an encyclopedic knowledge of the occult; Eduardo, a hip slacker with a crush on Kylie; Garrett, a wheelchair-bound athlete with a hot temper; and Roland, a “gentle giant” mechanical whiz. It's only a matter of time before Egon, Janine, old pal Slimer and the “kids” band together to rid the city of the evildoers.

Purple lop-eared ghost with two-feet sticking out from it: socks
Brown tree-shaped ghost: shoe
bat-like ghost with umbrella hat: umbrella
Brown tricycle-riding frog-like pie-spewer: oven mitt
Eyeball-covered blob-like ghost: glove (the form it took when it tapped on someone's shoulder)
Light blue big-eyed skeleton ghost: glasses
Upside-down ghost with snake-like heads spewing from its mouth: necktie.
Many-armed goggle-eyed ghost: sconces
Blue ghost with cymbal jaws: cymbals
Brown guitar-shaped ghost: bass
Cylindrical green ghost with many arms: drums
Purple horn-shaped ghost with big mouth: saxophone
Purple Ghost possessing a jacket: dress form/mannequin

It's one of the very few discontinuities between the movie and the series.
I like the fan theory I once saw that a free-roaming spirit came along while all the Gozer marshmallow pieces were still all over the street and sort of gradually assembled itself into that same shape, basically taking on the same form Gozer had but being a completely different entity.

The cartoon explains. The movie is actually based on their adventures. So creative liberties were taken with the movie, but in their real reality he is capturable.

Nope, not a remake of the 1975 show “The Ghost busters” or it’s sequel animated series “Ghostbusters” from 1986.
The owners of those shows did agree that the 1984 movie could use the name “Ghostbusters” for a license fee, so perfectly legal here.
Big deference between the two shows: one are paranormal investigators (1975) based around detective shows and is a slapstick series (which only lasted for 15 episodes) the other movies and Real Ghostbusters shows are about paranormal exterminators, a comedy sci-fi series based around exterminators and fire fighters.
