Greetings all! For today's video we take a ride on board Amtrak Hartford Line train #450 en route to Springfield Union Station from New Haven Union Station. P42DC locomotive #111 was in charge of this train. The Hartford-Springfield Line is a 62 mile long railroad line owned by Amtrak which provides service between New Haven Union Station in New Haven, Connecticut and Springfield Union Station in Springfield, Massachusetts. Other Amtrak lines such as the Vermonter and Valley Flyer run up the line, continuing their journeys to Greenfield, Massachusetts and St Albans, Vermont. There are also 2 Amtrak Northeast Regional trains per day that run up to Springfield, MA from Washington DC. The weekday NE Regional train numbers to and from Springfield are 157 (Southbound) and 140 (Northbound) while the weekend NE Regional train numbers are 148 (Northbound) and 147 (Southbound). In 2018 the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CDOT) added a dedicated commuter rail service providing the same service for extra commuter rail service connecting passengers to the Metro North Railroad New Haven Line to Southwestern Connection and Grand Central Terminal, as well allowing passengers to commute within the Knowledge Corridor between New Haven and Hartford.
