Hi Dave Pomeroy here (bass player in the video). Earl was playing a Sadowsky electric nylon string, one of the best "plugged in" acoustic sounds I've heard. Glad all of you are enjoying this, it was a pleasure to play with Earl, a very nice guy and amazing musician.
You sound so good on the Stingray! Earl sounds great on that electric nylon Sadowsky! Wow!
Thanks for posting these amazing video. You played the bass guitar so great. You both make a great team
Can we have more videos of Earl Klugh play this kind of nylon guitar. I found his really fascinating
You are a great bassist and I can see you are truly enjoying yourself with that bobbing movement. I tried scoring your basslines for the groove and it was cool hearing from the person that actually performed what I tried scoring
Dave you were really getting into the song. Looks like you were enjoying yourself. You're a good bass player too.
When I was 14 yrs old Earl heard and watched me sing and play guitar at the Midtown Cafe in Birmingham Michigan.. He hung around and we chatted. One 5hing that really stuck out that he said was.. “ girl , you’ve really sing with soul . That can’t be taught .. you must have a really old soul to be able to sound like that..” .. Yes.. I floated as I left the building.. 😉..
Hi Dave Pomeroy here. That was me on bass. Thanks for the compliments on my playing. That was a great gig and to play with Earl was a very special treat.
Yes, it looks you're having a good time. Earl and Chet are my favorite guitar players, never thought they played together. Fan here from Philippines.
The enthusiasm and energy on that bass man. Were you -all Chet's regular band? If you are still on planet Earth what are you doing these days in the bass world? And by the way who is the guitar player?
@@reuelray The guitar player is Earl Klugh
@@olusesanfesobi5219 I was asking about the guitar player in the background with the band..
So Special That Guy ! 😢No one to compare with till now❤
Dave, you are putting a hurtin on that bass, very melodic bass line with nice fills. Great job. Also Earl Klugh is by far my favorite guitarist, the man just makes beautiful music. You definetly made us bass players proud, with your performance.
I remember this old tune quite vividly when Iwas in my 20's.Earl this piece my favorite and you were dynamtic when you played this tune.Your great!!!
So privileged to have listened to this extraordinary talent over the years.Mr.Earl Klugh my all time favorite.Your music soothes and lifts the spirit!Just missed your concert at Blue Note NYC.Wish you come here more often.
Love the mullet and the Stingray 5, Dave!
Earl klugh, great musician and Dave pomeroy is
a maestro. Thanks for sharing this vid.
One of the rare times I've seen Earl play a different type of guitar (iie non acoustic one without a hollow box). Still has the unique Earl Klugh signature sound. 👍👍👍
I like this album earklugh
Lovely absolutely lovely
Someone answered a question today so I watch the video yet another time. Earl always nails it. He had to feel a certain amount of pressure in that setting especially with Chet standing there. Rip Chet, he inspired a lot of guitar players including Earl.
Even though I play pedal steel guitar and Fiddle and my biggest influence on Steel was Weldon Myrick; Earl klugh what was my biggest influence on jazz guitar. My goodness when I was a kid I heard him play if it's in your heart and I was hooked. Hopefully the good Lord above will allow us to meet one of these days.
for me earl put melody and humility on the guitar in my heart and makes me listen and hear somehting more that is not heard in all the roaring guitars elsewhere.his music always brings clear images of themes and places onto my eyes...we love yu earl .
One of the few guitarists who can really play electric and nylon brilliantly.
he's an incredibly-gifted guitarist, with a musical instinct that is second to none...but over and above that, he's an artist of the first order.
The best guitars idol
I learned Earl Klugh after hearing Living Inside Your Love which for me is one of Earl Klugh's undying melody.
I'm just 24 and I started listening to the genre ( jazz ) way back 5 or 6 years ago.
Always been a real favourite of mine
This was great- to hear Earl improv- great melodies. I wish he would post some videos of his solo playing, maybe some live concerts- Thanks to Earl-
I so much love this guy! It's as though I know him from some other world. Pure soul! He is so legit!
The guy is a legend...alaways & will always like his music...
@Dave Pomeroy .. You’re so dynamic..🎸
Dave, you are putting a hurtin on that bass, very melodic bass line with nice fills. Great job. Also Earl Klugh is by far my favorite guitarist, the man just makes beautiful music. You definetly made us bass players proud, with your performance. Actually I should mention, that the whole band is tight, nice job all around.
Simply beautiful music. I can't find the words to describe the bass playing. Nice one Dave.
Is this one of the tightest gigs you've ever seen or what? SUPREME!!!
Thanks Johnny. That was a gig I'll never forget!

Dave ! WoW
Seen this before man! You’re awesome playing baas on this tune
The keyboard player is Randy Goodrum, longtime Chet associate and a great songwriter as well.
The behing the scene people are normally very powerful.....
yes he's also one of the musician wrote for Michael Jackson.
Outstanding
❤
That's great, thanks! :)
the best
Muito bom som gostoso e bem a gosto do dos ritmos brasileiros, com certeza já gostei muito bom mesmo vale conhecer para quem não conhecia como eu, fiquei fã.
Met Earl after a DC concert. Real nice and supportive. He makes it easy for acoustic nylon players to get respect. This is a Klugh piece like many, that crosses over. Even the G Master Chet liked it. Chet's band is tight man. They surprised me with the chops & sounded just like the recording. Is this Chets regular band? Keep chopping Earl.
Though the performance is excellent, the Bass player is grooving in a zone that makes me wish I am bass player. The foundation of the song.....
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Where is any mention of the keyboard player here? He is absolutely brilliant. What a wonder player!
Daniel Massey Mr. Bob James
🎶👏💓
sounds like a reception but I like it...
looks like I'm a little late (a few years haha) but that's Randy Goodrum on keys-great songwriter-and the Guitar is by Roger Sadowsky-basically a Warmoth 'component' Guitar with his RS' name on it. I was tour director prior to this '79 - '84, grew up w/EK.
No Warmoth parts at all on that guitar.
He's really on fire!
What's his name?
what is Earls using? First to see him using electric.
Wow, the sound coming from that electric guitar is just magnificent. Does anyone have some information about the trick for that warm, acoustic sound? It's like if he put nylon strings on that guitar, but I've never seen anything like that, so I'm not sure.
It's a Sadowsky electric gut string. Excellent sounding axe, and Earl is a magician!
wauw. Which brand of guitar is that? Ibanez, Fender or Carvin? Can anyone tell me that? Great nylon sound..
Love it
Damn, he's playing a solidbody electric, but it STILL sounds like a nylon string acoustic.
That is a Sadowsky Electric Nylon model
おお。私の大好物はアールクルーだったりします。(^^
子供の頃から今に至るまでしょっちゅう聴いてますよ。
ギターも練習したんですけどねぇ。(遠い目)
what kind of guitar is he playing? It looks like an electric but it's got that nylon string sound.
What is this guitare name ?
:-)
What is Earl playing? A Sadowsky?
Stingray bass
lol for that
music is just like math...and sex...the cold of space is like the cold of women..you just have to get the right angle.
