      GREAT performance! I remember watching on PBS in 1995. Was, Chet a big influence on you playing guitar? I've heard a lot of people like, Nugent, Jimi Hendrix and even, Slash said Chet Atkins was a huge influence on their beginning to play guitar.

    I first heard this song on Earl's "Magic In Your Eyes" album. This is one of the 3 or 4 most moving songs I've ever heard. It has a beautiful, melodic, melancholy about it that defies description. When I listen to this song, it almost brings me to tears: it's so simple, profound and direct. We are so lucky this was caught on tape. One often mentioned characteristic of genius is making the extraordinary look easy. Chet and Earl have few peers and they're artistry is clearly touched by genius.

    Chet Atkins and Earl Klugh What a lovely performance. I wish I had the chance to meet Mr. Atkins. He seemed like such a lovely person. I read that he sighed Charly Pride the first AA country singer at a time during the Civil Rights movement and in the south no less. Chet also loved jazz. Well thank goodness for youtube and thanks for uploading this video.

    To:moncmon & mjaywill:I'm the biggest Chet fan ever. I was fortunate enough to be living in Nashville in 1980 when the taping of "A Tribute to Chet Atkins" TV show happened at the Opry House. I was there! Another youtuber got me to go on the internet to look it up under that name. I bought the DVD w/Earl & Chet playing GTCGTBlues that night. The tickets were $50.00 each, (a fortune back then), and a friend of mine got me two 4 free. DVD is good, but not enough Chet on it. Hope this helps.

    • @SteveD28
      @SteveD28 Před 9 lety

      ***** I don't believe they're being made, any more. And the 90 dollars is the tip of the iceberg, The guitars need truss rods installed, very often, a new fingerboard was needed--the frets were in the wrong place, those screens were made of cloth or paper--Basically, they needed rebuilding. The guitar may have only cost 90 dollars, or less--But another 2 grand to make them into playable instruments.

The Music Industry has nearly been destroyed by piracy which unfortunately starts at home for far too many people. Sorry to be a stick in the mud, but I know Chet would back me up on this one. I posted these because they are not available commercially -yet. Please don't steal the audio or video!

    @JazzyZenBrotha Good idea. I have a number of friends who play guitar. The resonator really lets them add a totally different sound, which can make all the difference for a certain song. All of the best guitarists master one specific guitar but always try different instruments to broaden their sound.
