- We went down to southern Iowa to do a little camp & fish at Lake of Three Fires State Park. It was a very nice little park, and fairly typical of southern Iowa lakes with the typical largemouth bass, channel cat, and bluegill as the main game fish. After setting up camp, I had about an hour to fish so I decided to target largemouth bass with a topwater frog from my Sea Eagle Kayak. I was using an all new set up that I purchased for muskie and flathead fishing, combining a 7'6" MH Whisker Seeker rod with a Daiwa Lexa 400 and 65 lb J-Braid. The combination turned out to be a good one and I managed to land a few bass.

this place has so many covers ! definitely bass love this area ~
Those lily pads were HUGE out there. They were so big in most areas I couldn't even cast a frog in and hit the water.
Some very nice bass for sure.
Thanks! It was nice to squeeze in a couple quick trips out in the kayak.
Nice fish, I would have been throwing a weightless fluke as well. Fun spots when they are biting.
Thanks for the tip, Jim. I'll have to give that a try sometime.
Might be the first bass I've seen targeted on those rods too 🤣Wait until you get some cats in that yak and that rod!
I was really impressed with the action of the rod. I certainly need to get some cats on it now.
