That was definitely one of the dirtiest take outs I've ever seen. Barcia should have been black flagged and hit with a bigger penalty than 10 points. He could have easily broken Malcolm's leg. The AMA needs to make an example out of Barcia. There is a difference between clean racing and all out contact racing just for personal gains. Completely take him out of the 2023 season. I personally don't want to see someone on the track that is capable of using his bike as a weapon. Barcia is bad for the sport. What kind of image is this setting for younger riders and the AMA?

Great reporting as always! In terms of the incident, what really jumped out to me is that what was already a bad result for Malcolm Stewart could have been a horrific result instead. An inch or two difference in where Barcia hit Stewart could have literally resulted in a career ending injury for the 27. Had Barcia contacted Malcolm's leg at that velocity and if it were above the boot line, Malcolm's knee could have been destroyed. That's a year off of the bike at the very least, if not end of story permanently. It's one thing to block pass someone in a corner to gain a position. But to use a 220lb motorcycle as a guided missile and aim it at your competitors borders on insanity. NASCAR has had issues with Kyle Busch for years that are similar. The one difference is that when insulated in these now very safe race cars, a tap on the bumper to show ones disapproval is not even in the same league as what Barcia has been doing all season. Any of those collisions, Bogle, Anderson, Stewart could have ruined a race season for the competitor, their team, the guys that work at the shop, the track, etc. It's time for Justin Barcia to really be punished. Dock him points for next season at least. Let him start with -25 points or whatever to insure that he has no shot at the title and his sponsors and team have to think about whether or not the guy is worth the effort. And if he takes one step outside the lines, pull his license. Riders have been suspended for much less than this (Brock Tickle, JS7) and in Tickle's case, it ended his racing career. It's time to start acting like a sanctioning body and start handing out penalties that actually do what they are intended to do. Barcia doesn't give a crap about 10 points or 5K. In fact it just adds to his storyline as the villain of the sport, which he seems to embrace. Sorry to ramble on, but this one really just pissed me off.

Exactly. A shitty take-out like you describe actually happened to me at my first night race when I was 11 years old. A guy named Tony Flores was lapping me (He was an 80cc expert, and I was a novice), I was trying to get out of his way because I knew he was coming, and he T-Boned me right in my knee. It wrecked my knee. It's been wrecked ever since. I always have to be really careful with it, as the joint is prone to slipping out of place.
And the pain from this particular injury is incredible. I had never felt that intense agony to that degree, no matter the injury, nor have I felt that much pain ever since then.

Malcolm was racing for a championship, Barcia just took him out so he wouldn't have to actually race him for 3rd overall. Then says he's likes to think Malcolm would have done the same? But when Malcolm passed him just before that he didn't touch him at all. Simply went up the inside and took the position. Like okay guy. He already proved he wouldn't do the same.

well...one thing we can say about gas gas bikes....they've got a sturdy front end! That was a straight up torpedo right into malcolm. MS even looked over, expecting Barcia to come in, but I don't think he was expecting a missile. I'm glad MS took the smart choice and took 3rd in the series instead of payback.
That move was so blatant, I wish they would just black flag Barcia for the night. Obviously "probation" is just a word in the dictionary to Barcia. AMA needs to get their mess together on the issue of dirty riding. Maybe something like...if a rider is over 50 percent through their turn and you tattoo your front end on their radiator, you're done for the night.
Happy for MS, he rode really well this year. It looked like he has been changing his riding style a good bit. He looks smoother, like he is flowing with the bike better. He seems to have much better fitness too this season.

I know they tend to gloss this over and say "rubbin is racing" but this was definitely a case of a top 5'ish rider desperate for a better position and has no moral compass. That is not rubbin, that was a flat out attack on another rider. Mookie passed him clean as hell which shows that if you are a good rider and have skills, you can actually setup a pass and make it happen without endangering the well being of the other rider. That type of move that he has done multiple times now could have easily led to one of his targets getting a serious injury or mechanical problem that left them out of the race and/or season. Those kind of "passes" which definitively have the purpose of taking another rider down need to be enforced much more significantly which should reduce the chance they keep happening. Black flag them, take away all the points for that race and fine them.

100% there needs to be legitimate penalties to stop this from happening. I don't understand how people see this and say rubbing is racing. It literally ruins the racing. Riding aggressive, taking people high and block passing can all be done cleanly . It says a lot that anyone who passed Barcia has to look over their shoulder even when they have a few bike lengths on him coming into a corner. I like barcia but I think we're all just sick of his retaliations for being slower than someone. He says he's out there racing for a living, well so is everybody else but they have to worry about a psycho headhunter that can't handle getting passed by a faster rider. I don't agree with how the AMA handled this and if they are just following the way the rules are written something has to change because this guy is out of control and dangerous. Barcia needs a team to put him in check if AMA won't. Hard to remain a Barcia fan after this season. If I were Red Bull Gas Gas I would be embarrassed.

@@johnsmith-fk7fw I'm sorry , John , but I disagree. I have no problem with aggressive passes nor do I want our racing to turn into NASCAR. However, I don't want us to be Rollerball either. I personally hate Barcia's riding style. As an enthusiast, I'd rather see them swap spots fair and square back and forth the entire race, rather than watching timeouts. I dont see why any of the manufacturers continue to sign him. I see it as bad publicity. Especially when the entire crowd is booing you.
