Mike and Kenny also caused cautions in this race...so most likely

There was one year where I think it went until the second Daytona race for a Nationwide regular to get a top 10.

What was Rusty saying about speeding on pit road to beat the pace car? There's no way that was allowed was it?

To a degree but they didn't want someone going 30-40 MPH through the pits to save themselves from being lapped. Wallace drove through several pit boxes too when he left his box.

Ah yes, the dark, dark, dark, dark, DARK times of the Busch series...good Christ, look at those Cupwackers in the ticker. Gross.

Yep. The Buschwacking was so bad it killed the developmental pool for a few years. You had guys like Kevin Conway and Stephen Leight winning rookie of the year awards despite running backmarkers for not even a full season because they had no competition

The common term was Buschwhacking! That’s why NASCAR now only allows drivers to run for points in one series. Drivers with more than a certain amount of Cup experience are also limited in lower series races that can be run, unless they declare to run for a lower level championship.

Pretty scummy of NASCAR to say they weren't gonna penalize him, only to do exactly that. I wouldn't expect anything less from them though.

Reminds me of the time they did something similar to Matt Kenseth at Charlotte in 2014

Reminds me of the BS DQ against Johnny Sauter in 2005 at I believe spring Texas:
The team asked NASCAR for approval on a part. NASCAR said yes. NASCAR then DQed Sauter. The team, Phoenix Racing, appealed & the appeals board INCREASED THE PENALTY.
Do not tell me that NASCAR did not hate Johnny Sauter & didn't have it out for him. You will be wrong *every single time!*
_(Edit: Had to specify it was spring Texas since there were 2 Texas Busch races in 2005)_

2011. And yeah as a sauter fan myself nascar hated him, I never knew why.

@@Crussell04 The 2011 Texas incident was in the Truck Series. What happened was on a GWC finish while leading, Sauter's tires spun who resulted in his truck veeting left into the other lane. Sauter gave the lane back (Which is what you're suppose to do), but NASCAR decided to illegitimately black flag him to screw him out of the win & give the win to the Truck Series Golden Boy of that era, Ron Hornaday.
