POWERNATION why do they keep calling the engine an LS2? Wasn’t it a 5.3 that was built for it by the engine power crew?
Good job guys. Great ride height and tire size match.
Makes me miss my old 800A Harvey was a beast. Thanks for the video made my day!!
I had a IH 1976 Terra Scout convertible. Took it over the Continental Divide for over 70 miles; not one problem. I should have never sold it! Rock on!
I remember when i was ten years old i fell in love with an old international it wasn't the Scout it was that half ton 4x4 truck version. Puke green and it was unstoppable we used it in northern Washington in the winter to go get firewood. Was pulling Ford's out all the time.
A customer if mine was leaving me his scout a 71 with 13000 original miles he got alzheimers and let some people talk him out of everything he had no family it was really sad .
@@williammise686people are garbage bro.
I feel like Ian could have wheeled that smoother.
I love it, haters are always going to hate.
Wow another LS swap. Pretty unimpressive. Love scouts and the rest of the project. Just should of used a 345 cid. Ls swaps are getting old
To heavy I believe. All it needs is a 4.8.
@@dazaspc i agree. Just thought an old school 345 would of been a cool way to go and keep it's original feel
@@bigboreracing356 Have you ever weighed a IH 345, a lot heavier than a BBC and the ones I have encountered in Australia not that powerful just a low rpm lugger. Anything more than 300 hp in that sort of rig is just a waste.
@@lanceanson9322 Nothing wrong with them stock but that is far from that now.
@@dazaspc not a stock one. There are great mods parts fir thise out there
Really a spotter for that come on. I do that alone all the time
Great, another scout turned Chevy
Would have been better with a Cummins 4 swap
IH was happy putting AMC and Nissan motors in them.
Cheese and rice.
Where in the ruck did you learn how to use cutting torch.
Do you have a list of suspension upgrades...?
Primarily want more travel and way less bounce ....more flex would be nice....
Love the old Aussie Footage of the Scout.
You never hook a winch up like that... You may have weakened the winch line by doing it... And yes I know you weren't pulling anything severely heavy...
$40,000 in upgrades, and they forgot to put windshield wipers on it.
Nice video, thanks for sharing ✌
This Is literally my Dream Car!!!!!
Love seeing people have a fully built rig with 4 or 5 point harness and they only use the lap belt!
Screw safety we are tv hosts!
My favorite part was the tent and awning 🤣
I have driven every trail of Turkey Bay with a 1969 VW Baja Bug. Not very extreme.
Nice Scout! Real nice! Please tell me you were babying that thing because you are going to give it away to a lucky viewer! I mean using the winch to move that little tree was just to show off the winch, right? Because that beast would have run over that little tree without breaking a sweat. Jeez, I've been on more challenging roads in DC... LOL Great stuff! Thanks for bringing us along!
Is that a scout 800A?
NEVER grab a winch cable without gloves.
Not even a new one
I hope "cutie" lands on her feet somewhere with amazing opportunities for her! I wish the absolute best for Eliza, you go lady!
I always liked the IH Scouts.
Not impressed with the show hosts. Total lack of knowledge and charisma. The scout wasnt built right either. Swappin in the ls lost its soul. And the springs were to stiff for any flex.
In the mountains of California, we call that wheeling you did here "forestry road driving". Definitely wheeling for noobs.
I actually own an original prototype scout 80s... it came from the Valley Forge Military Acadamy
I love the idea of off roading, but in practice it gets ugly. I got a Jeep stuck in a swamp several years ago and that rank swamp smell stayed with that vehicle for as long as I owned it. The next owner probably wonder wtf the odor was
scouts dont get stuck in the mud i would drive circles around stuck jeeps in the mud even with another scout on a trailer burried to the axles in mud i just backed up to the trailer and pulled it out with out even trying were the other 4x couldent even budge it i pulled a loaded dump truck out of the mud once it was burried up to the bed i might have bent the frame on the dump truck though it was pretty mangled after that i also towed a small mobile home out of a muddy feild after 2 trucks tied together tryed and were both stuck also i pulled them all out the 6 miles to a gallon realy hurt though gota love the scout
@@ferp420 not true I pulled a scout out 9f a swamp 27 years ago with a 81 Toyota with a Cummins I put in it the wrecker burnt his winch out trying to pull it .I pulled my drop hitch off then hooked to the frame pulled it right out
@@williammise686 scouts cant get stuck ever its a rule of nature i think what you ment to say was you pulled a toyota and a wrecker out of a swamp with a scout
@@williammise686 dont wreckers use pto drive winches or is that just tow trucks
@@williammise686 81 yota with a cummins thats like a ninja on steroids
how did you put it in the wrecker that must have been a huge tow truck or one skillfull ninja
That was a branch from a tree .... right hahaha
Just posted on my Scout truck club FB page. I own a 78 Scout II,
1980!! Love Scouts
Wait...what happened to Ian?
This rig almost matches my rc truck!
I’d try out that back seat lol 😂
Drive over the tree the rock were bigger than that log. 🤦🏾♀️😁
why didn't you install skid plates ?? i'm new to overlanding & am just curious
I miss Turkey Bay.........
I was hoping for the sd33 turbo :(
Lets buy an original vehicle and throw away everything except the body. Powernation in a nutshell.
Who winches a tiny tree branch? That was weird. What a contrived use for a winch.
Hey u didn't use a tree saver on that tree .
A tree? WTF? A SAPPLING!!!
“A tree is in the way”, use winch to move twig...... pansy’s
Andres G Not only that hook it up
Improperly by hooking it wrapped around and back to the cable.🙄
Did you notice it wasn't even on the trail the trail went left 🤣
Tree?....it was a stick...this show is such a joke.
i have a 78, i would have ran through that stick
Never hook your winch cable back to itself, which creates a kink, and from there a weak point. Use a strap to loop trees, and then hook to the strap. Bare cable will damage live trees as well. Only metal anchor points should be direct hooked to.
Also, the " 'Binder " nick name isn't derived from something the heavy IH drivers used often to refer to other IH rigs, it was more in reference to the IH "Light Line", which were it's 1 ton and under vehicles (Travelall's, Scouts, and pickup trucks). IH offered these because they knew as long as they had a farmer in the dealership to spend 3/4 of a million dollars on ag equipment, you could probably also sell them a runabout vehicle for $10 grand to use in the fields while you were bringing your crops in. Also, while the salesman was selling you your ag equipment and a light truck, they were selling your wife a refrigerator and chest freezer. They even had some IH branded books and toys to keep your kids busy. 'Binder is shortened up from the phrase Corn Binder, which referenced the corn stalks that would get wrapped around your drivelines and axles while you were running back and forth in your corn fields during harvest.
IH eventually got sick of the tight profit margins on the Light Line (Figuring why should they go to the effort to manufacture a $10K vehicle for $700 net profit, when they could focus on making $750,000 combine harvesters that net them $100,000 in profit. They didn't even want to be bothered with making $10,000 profit for a $90,000 tractor trailer rig, and subcontracted that out to Navistar International.) They retired all Light Line vehicles in late 1980 or early '81, saying they cared to leave the heavy competition in that field to the Big Three automakers.
Hola
Thinkin a 4.0 swap on my 800 do something more original than a LS
Find an old bread truck with Cummins 4 cylinder a friend of mine bought 100 of them when kerns went under in Knoxville Tennessee the bodies were all aluminum he scraped them and sold motors for 2000 apiece they all were 140000 or less Miles.
Just dont try that with an aluminum rim and definitely not magnesium 🤣
mamacita I love you 😘😘😘
Hey Thats not 4 wheeling your driving on a highway. A stock cruiser or Hilux will do all that more.Downunder 4x4.
SMH left over blazer running gear......
😁✌🖖👌👍😎
Drive over the tree omg its a twig lol btw a stock 90's 4runner can do same stuff stock
BOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Toyota will go where nothing else will I have owned 7 .80to 85 unbelievable I bought a new 87 and tore 3 front ends out in 2 years now I wont own anything later than 85 with straight front axle to offroad
Riiight…. A stock 90’s ifs yoga will go where an LS swapped, locked up Scout on 37’s will
Bullshit
They did an LS swap.....its no longer a scout.
I would have done a Cummins or a 7.3
what a bunch of phonies. move a twig with a cable, could of picked it up as you did to get it there.
Quick way to shorten the life of the winch line.... I love scouts but host non enthusiasm killed it a few min in...
Where did they find these hosts?!? High school students know more than these two. Plus the guy is totally girly looking and the girl is totally manly looking. WTH?!? Did the world flip upside down while I wasn't looking?!? Where is Ian from Extreme 4x4?!?
Is the diversity hire gone? Snoozefest over? Can I watch this show again?
Ffs not another ls swap, way to ruin a perfectly good scout. 👎👎👎
Staged and scripted = boring
