- The Pirates finally get to Sutcliffe, with Jason Thompson driving in Lee Mazzilli with a two-out single in the eighth inning to cut their deficit to 2-1. With runners on first and third, Cubs manager Jim Frey turned to closer Lee Smith. This is the Pirates broadcast of the Cubs' 1985 home opener.
