- Guy Boisson lives in Rangiroa, in the Polynesian Archipelago, and he is a huge specialist of the Mahi Mahi fishing. Mahi Mahi is a delicate and expensive fish, as its capture is difficult and rare. Guy is considered as the best Mahi Mahi hunter of the Archipelago. His fishing exploits have gone down in island history. Not only has he mastered the techniques of his ancestors, he's taken them one step further. He once caught forty-two Mahi-Mahi in one expedition!
Documentary: “Overseas Legends - Mahi Mahi hunters”

He was whipping that boat like nothing all while handling the speed and focusing on the fish! My respects to this man! Now that's an honest living
Love you too
F.
@Kristy let me holler at you
Mary me
I just dropped a nasty diarrhea patty on my boss’s door steps
Headshots every time. No lanyard to shut the boat off if he falls out. Dude is like Poseidon's little son running around on top of the ocean on his mechanical horse.
Lol
Raja dat!! Love this guy
SLICE documentaries are the best ever. Always educative and entertaining.
I saw this back in the early 90's.. thanks Slice for bringing it back
What a amazing live this guy has, nature, fishing, tropical islands, international people to enjoy
This channel deserves millions subscribers
True but most ppl like watching trash lol I just found this gem n I'm freaking excited.
They're too busy with their TikTok shits.
A One-Man-Army amazing technique. Awesome, man!
Crazy why the fish doesn’t just go deep to evade danger but that said, this guys skills are truly incredible. I’ve sat out on high tech deep sea fishing boats with $1000’s of dollars of fishing tackle for hours and hours and caught fuck all yet just give this guy a broom handle, some sharp barbed spears and a cheap yet fast small boat and he’s in his element putting people like me to shame. Got to take my hat off to this guy.
17:40 to avoid sharks
As a former ships agent I witnessed big outfits( Korean long liners)unloading ship to ship in Panama hundreds of Mahi Mahi and shark ,frozen, partially cleaned gutted and tails heads removed and strung together in batches of 6-8 by the tail with nylon cord and that was fifity years ago its hard to imagine how these fish will ever recover from us fishing them no matter the method.
@@williamkane6155 hearing these things are heartbreaking, don’t suppose we’ll ever know the full magnitude of the damage caused until it’s too late too. Also it’s disheartening to think that out of all the fish you saw dead probably only al small percentage of them actually ended up consumed after they have been processed etc! Only take from the ocean what you need doesn’t apply anymore when there’s a high profit to be made!
@@williamanderson784 I didn’t ask why they didn’t go deep as I watched the documentary just as you did, I just said it’s crazy why they don’t go deep! Read peoples comments properly before thinking you’re a smart arse🤣
@@nicktrow7605 you’re a tool
Done alot of fishing in my life. I've never seen anything like this. I'd love to try it for myself. No nets. No rod and reel means no monofilament breaking off and adding more plastic into the sea. Snapped fishing line also becomes an issue for sea birds. This method is very sustainable. This dude is obviously a master of his craft. Headshots every time. Simply amazing imho.
I've caught a lot of those fish but never even dreamed of catching that way!
Real skill and talent, great documentary
The man who invented them boats he's a LEGEND 🙌
They been making boats like that since the 50s in America
This is amazing. He is so quick and a good fisherman.
Thanks 4 this documentary slice!! Guy is a real pro at driving his boat & harpoon!!✌🙏🌎❤
I used to think I was a fisherman...
Damn, this guys my new hero.
Great video.
Truly hunting fish...
Pretty cool.
He handled that boat like it was breathing.. wow. What an AMAZING way to live life!! Wow! That gorgeous water and beaches all around, doing something fun and enjoyable for a job!!? Cannot get any better than that. If i didnt have family, thats where id be. Either that or the extreme opposite Alaska! Both are absolutely beautiful and allow someone to really live life instead of working a slave job making someone else rich.
The best part is this guy lives that life with a family.
This amazing. Imagine the amount of paperwork he need to prepare if he lives in Australia lol
Australia shit fishing law give the Aboriginal people land back
I Love how Guy can Select his Fish.

Wow, Guy is a total cowboy! Great narration and filming as always. What year was this filmed and what did you all use to stabilize the footage on Guy's boat? The Perfect Horizon tripod?
Since watching your fishing docs, you've inspired me to film the commercial fisheries that are in my own backyard of the Florida Keys. I'd love to chat with you all about your filming and narration process because after filming the spiny lobster boat I was just on, it's hard work capturing it all! What a fascinating industry that not many people talk about these days.
Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication 🙌
You do realise this was filmed 25 years ago?
@@seanfenwick I did not catch the year this video was made. If it’s 25 years old, that’s some impressive stabilization.
Badass!

Thanks in Advance.
Search Poti Marara on CZcams and there are a few videos from Boat Builders in Tahiti

Poor Mahi Mahi have a tough life. They have sharks under the water and Guy hunting them from above.
