  • This short piece titled "Méditation" was composed by Auguste Larriu (1840 -1925) and appears in his "Fleurs de l'organiste", a collection of short works for organ or harmonium. Larriu was, by profession, a licensed notary and lawyer; but as a musician, he was organist at the Sainte-Croix church in Oloron-Sainte-Marie until his death. Larriu apparently composed many works, particularly for the organ and the harmonium. Unfortunately, most of his published music is now lost.
Played on the sample set for the organ of Sainte-Marie Cathedral in Oloron-Sainte-Marie, France and was built in 1870 by the world famous organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. Today the organ is in the same condition as in 1870 when Cavaillé-Coll finished building it. As Larriu, himself was born in Oloron-Sainte-Marie and held his position as organist at Sainte-Croix church, he was presumably familiar with this organ as well.
    Sample set by Piotr Grabowski.
