- This is how you make a Balloon Rocket!
This is a science experiment from my book Stay Curious and Keep Exploring and is great for kids ages 5-12.
Materials You'll Need
Book: amzn.to/41waqKp
Straw: amzn.to/3W51mv5
String: amzn.to/3M2V62j
Tape: amzn.to/3o19m3C
Balloon: amzn.to/41AQyGb
Instructions
(1) Tape one end of your string up high (this can be a chair, or a railing, or even the ceiling)
(2) Cut the other end so that it's long enough for a balloon to travel across (this will really depend on the size of the room you're in. I would just make it as long as possible!)
(3) Cut a straw so that it is about 3 inches long. Tape that to your balloon and ensure that it makes a straight line from the top of your balloon to the bottom.
(4) Thread the string through the straw. If you like, you can tape the other end of the string to the floor, or anywhere else that is level with, or lower, to the end of the string. You could also simply hold it like I do in the video!
(5) blow up your balloon. Release!
Your balloon should travel 10 feet or more!

Balloon rocket launch was a success, my Gigi loves to learn and explore the world of science. Thanks for launching this on CZcams
These are really great!! I may use this in my playground physics class this summer.
Oh so perfect!! Let me know how it goes!!
Good to see you on CZcams, good luck growing the channel! Greetings from the Netherlands 😊
Hello Netherlands friend!!
How fun! What a great idea to add coins and things! We’ll be doing this later for sure 😊
It was such a perfect experiment. You could connect this to NASA’s Artemis mission too!!
I’m so glad you started a CZcams, and so is my son! He’s watched your Netflix show over and over and over and now that you have a CZcams he’s so stoked! He’s a space lover so he loves all the space themed projects. I bought your book for him for Christmas and every day he says “mom can we do some science?” Thank you for making my son a science lover! 🤗🪐🛸👽☄️🔭👩🚀
oh my goodness!!!! My daughter asks the same thing when she gets home, except she always says "I want to make a scientist!" :) I'm so glad this has come in handy and thank you so much for the encouragement!
Great way of making such big concepts relatable! Every video experiment so far has been a real treat!
Also, happy happy birthday, Emily!!! I'm grateful for the wide range of things you've educated me on, and I'll be cheering you on in everything you do this year! 🎂🥂🙌
You are so sweet!! Thank you!!
Thanks. I did it horizontal and called it a "Train" :). It was fun.
We sent several Lego astronauts to space, as well as a Lego Princess Anna. So fun! My favorite part was when I got to teach the kids about RUD during fueling 💥
Uhm WHAT
(the balloon popped)
Hi! i am from Brazil and we have known you from Netflix show (sad it’s over). My 6 years old daughter LOVES you! We have your book and do a lot of experiments. So happy to have this series in your CZcams channel!
She is thrilled 😁🥳
Hello Brazil!!! And thank you so much!
My two young daughters loved this! We also experimented with different tethers to demonstrate friction differences on types of tether, such as electric wire with insulation.
Oh my gosh! Such a great idea!
Love this!
My kids love this experiment! We like to make it a little competitive and see who’s balloon makes it first.
Such a great idea!!! Competition tends to drive innovation ;)
