When I bought my house in 1988, interest rates were 10 3/4. And we just kept refinancing as the rates dropped and now we’re at 2 3/4

Thanks for telling the world that after 36 years of making payments the bank still owns your home because you keep feeding the bank by refinancing a property that should have been paid off in 2003 or at the latest 2007 if you understood mortgages, interest, principal, and money management. Our was too. My parents had the rates people have been enjoying for 20 plus year 3 and 4 % and that was 1963
I'm thinking the same thing. I bought my house in the late 80s when interest rates were a little over 10%. When rates fell, we refinanced. Rates are just under 3% now. Stop complaining and do what previous generations managed to handle.

Happyness comes directly when you have an equitable society. A society where everyone has enough, has enough to eat a home, personal space, healthcare, society is stable and people have extra to enjoy themselves be that a holiday a car or whatever. Happyness isn't something you see in societies with huge disparities and strife. It's not about be lonely, its about a stable, kind safe and fair society

Inflation number of 2% is a target that's all it could be set at 2.5% or 3% this has been discussed by other nations, and maybe is a better target in todays world, also inflation has been below 3% since late 2023. The better target is loan rates and if you were to set the inflation rate at 2.5 or 3, your interests rates could be cut. Wages are up, markets are up, unemployment is lowest in 50 Years. The economy is doing well.
A more detailed and more severe Treason Act, with mandatory enforcement, is clearly needed.

Blame the corporations for the artificially hiked prices, not just inflation. Corporations are achieving record profits, they are price gouging because they can and that includes oil companies.

A man who is a house builder and makes a wage of 40 dollars an hour has an income of about 80 thousand dollars a year which means that he cannot afford to buy the house that he has built for someone else. He would have to make 140 thousand dollars a year to buy a house that he can build.
Wages are not keeping up with ACTUAL inflation, the inflation numbers are not taking into account for what it actually costs to LIVE.

You know what that will result in? No one will work. No one will try to achieve. The tax base will diminish and ultimately disappear.
It has classically tough to buy a home unless you make many sacrifices. In 1981 I was in the middle class and making a decent wage of 11 dollars per hour. The best price I could find was 80,000. I could not qualify for a 30 year mortgage because interest of 14 percent. I bought a 50,000 home just barely. Then my sister paid 180,000 for her home in the San Francisco Bay Area. Today that home is worth well over 2 million. I say this because homes starting at 2 million sold out in the last two years even before they finished building those 30 homes. My sister’s home is on the back of a cul de sac with a huge lot. Whereas the 30 homes have a very small lot. I still contend that instead of complaining, use inflation to your advantage. My sister retired at age 62. And she doesn’t even have to sell her primary residence. She could survive by selling her rental home. Thus just make it work because it can be done.

How much of the increase in insurance rates can be attributed to Florida alone? With so many insurers leaving the state, the remaining companies have increased their rates. And DeSantis and the Republican legislators haven't done ansingle thing to improve the problem.
It’s actually because of increased weather issues in all states. Florida and California have always been costly markets to insurance providers. Now, states like Arkansas and Tennessee have become higher risk states due to unnamed wind (tornadoes, etc…) have increased.

They don't make affordable housing because they don't make money on them. The smallest new house that developers build is twice the size of a Cape Cod, home from years ago or even twice the size of a relatively small ranch style house. And if they are smaller they're called patio homes and sell for twice as much to retirees ie: Those that already have made their lives. They're not gonna build it if it's not gonna make them money and a lot of us per development. If it is subsidized housing it is increasingly cheap and ineffective. They just fall apart. Cape cod and ranch style houses as we used to have them would be probably the best.

Business travelers are covered by corporate expense accounts. Those entities whose profits are at seventy year highs. They can absorb higher car rental rates. The people who can't afford dependable transportation are those on fixed incomes and the ones forced to work for low wages. If corporate greed isn't brought under control, we will see civil unrest.
