  • Getting my boat looking good for the tournament season, I decided to restore the cowling on my Mercury optimax, but I really didnt want to sand it all the way down and paint it again. So I wet sanded it, buffed and polished it now it looks like new!

    • @DinsmoreOutdoors
      @DinsmoreOutdoors  Před 3 lety +2

      I would be careful because they do not normally spray clear coat on the trunk of the outboard just the fiber glass covering. so you could do the buffing and polishing but wet sanding may remove paint.

    Hey man I loved your video.. One question after you had finished you put on the decals then the buffer again then the wax over the top of the decals too but how about another layer of clear coat? Or is the wax pretty much the same thing? Thanks buddy.. Lee in Greece.

    • @DinsmoreOutdoors
      @DinsmoreOutdoors  Před 4 lety

      Good to here from you! Clear coating in like paint you have to tape everything off and have the equipment to do it. What I was doing most everyone can do at home and not needing painting equipment to do it. Waxing just helps protect the paint from water spots and the sun from fading your paint back out. I hope this helps answer your question.
