Ok been working on this trans crossmember and mount for 2 hours now, on a lift. My jeep lives in the rust belt and all nuts and bolts were rusted solid. Everything removed without breaking any bolts or studs but now the last 2 large (18mm head) bolts won't budge using a breaker bar and 24" pipe. I don't want to snap these off in the transmission so tomorrow I'll try again with the fire wrench.
Harbor freight actually lol. Did a ton of searching for a decent extension cord and air reel setup, found that HF had the best bang for the buck and great quality too. Very impressed so far
The new aftermarket transmission mounts are garbage and don't last a month if you wheel hard. I'd like to hear about these solid mounts. Not sure I like the idea of a solid mount. Please enlighten me.
can a transmission mount cause transmission leaks.? my mount has the black rubber block separated in the middle almost all the way from one side to the other. I would of never knew that, had i not looked around to find the transmission leak, I keep reading the dip stick and it always has more transmission fluid then it should. I think I must of got water in the dip stick hole. The stick must of raised up some how. Does that even happen? I have a 92 cherokee 4.0
Mine doesn't clunk but there is an audible vibration at low rpm so I don't know if it is the transmission mount or possibly motor mounts 2000 2wd XJ 222k miles
Probably a dumb question... When you install a small lift, one option is to do a t-case drop instead of the SYE. Is what you did related at all to a t-case drop?
How much space should be between the top of the transmission and the undercarriage? I just installed the Stinky Fab transmission mount AND swapped the transmission. It seems like everything is much higher now.
I replaced my transmission mount (2001 XJ) and now I have a vibe when I come to a stop or start off from a light???? feels like the exhaust it touching the frame maybe but can't find it. I have a 1.5 in. suspension lift with spacers on the pan. did the alignment maybe change?
alignment doesn't change from a transmission mount. go underneath and check to see if the exhaust is hitting the crossmember. very common issue with cheaper mounts.
mines doing the same especially if i take it out of overdrive. theres a hard shift from drive to reverse or vice versa also. let me know if youve had any luck
I wish you showed how much movement the transmission had before and after the swap. I am trying to figure out how much movement is normal. Or should it be really solid?
@@KSuspension Ok, cool, I do have clunking and can wobble the transmission with my hand so it must be worn out even though the rubber does look ok. Thanks!
@@jimmiedow I got the same issue. My rubber looks in great shape, new really, but I can lift the whole tranny/transfer case almost an inch with minimal effort.
Just about to change mine. It doesn't clunk, bit its got 216000 on it so I figure its due. Motor mounts will get changed when I put on the heat wrap to stop my vapor lock. So, any ETA on the coil relocation bracket for my 01? Just another project for later on this spring. Thanks.
Our version 3 bracket should be done today/tomorrow. We've finally got it nailed down to a perfect product, so hoping that in a week or two at most, we'll release a preorder special on them and get them out the door!

Due to a battery acid issue, I had to replace my transmission at 20k miles. The new transmission (same year used with 14k miles) has been working great, except recently at 25k miles I hear a pop the first time I reverse. The van is still under factory powertrain warranty. A tire shop is saying my issue is transmission mounts. How is this possible at 25k miles? Is it possible to damage transmission mounts from off-roading?
yes it's extremely easily possible to damage mounts during off-roading adventures. Also, depending on the manufacturer of the mount, I've seen them go bad in less than a mile with some cheap chinese manufactured mounts, get solid or a good quality OEM equivalent mount.
@@KSuspension Thanks. reading some other posts. I recall the moment that damage was done. I was stuck in very deep sand and it made some nasty popping noises getting out. I drove 300 miles with many stops, but was not until the next morning while reversing out of my parking space that I heard the pop. Its a single pop and only happen when the van is cold. Even if I drive a block I won't hear it again. Some are suggesting it it's likely my Universal joint?
@@KSuspension Hi, Thanks. Front lifted no pressure on axles, and hubs bolted on, the axles are not loose. Here what reversing does..(not the popping sound but not sure if normal) seems to do it in forward too and with ABS off as well. Is this normal? czcams.com/video/7LQMvceNb2Y/video.html
Everything was good except two things.... first always always safety first WEAR SAFETY GLASSES especially working above second when you torque never give it double click it's only one click other then that your over torquing it... thanks have a good day🤘
Ok, gotta have a critic sometimes.. good overall "overview" of this procedure, incl some specs which they proceed to ignore , lol (most will, just using common logic works), but your lighting provides NO usable detail or definition to the parts you're working on. Second, mechanics who do CZcams vids who use hand wrenches vs. air tools or cordless electric tool drive me nuts. WHYYY!!??? Just to fill content? It's like watching slo-mo, c'mon! 😬🙏
it's because not everyone has access to air tools or specialty tools so we use hand tools to show that it is possible with the basics and you don't need the fancy or expensive stuff to get the job done. Of course on a day to day basis we don't use just hand tools, flat rate won't cover that.
I prefer using hand tools so I can feel if there are any oddities easier than feeling with an impact. I also don’t like running the compressor either 😁
thanks for the help keemstar

Muy buen video para saber cómo cambiar el soporte
Quick question: where do I put the hydraulic jack for support ? Under the transfer case or transmission?
Tcase is fine. Careful if you’re going to support weight on the transmission. Not recommended
@@KSuspension appreciate the fast response. When I support the transfer case I am not lifting the jeep but merely supporting it correct? Thanks again!

I’m having a clunking issue when driving in 2 wheel drive * regular drive * can this be my problem ?? It’s clunking under my driver seat

It clunked when driving. couldn't physically move it though. Should be pretty solid. Just look at the rubber, see if it's falling apart or not.
