- Hello and welcome! The differences in price for Service across the Kawasaki dealership network is crazy so I'm forced to shop around for a Bike Service. Some good info in this vid for you (I hope) if you're in the same boat as me.

Allways done it myself and would never trust anybody to work on my bike which i have had 44 years
If I can't work on something myself I don't buy it.
Getting old sucks though and my days of working on cars etc are nearly over so found a good local garage that I feel I can trust is the next move but with the same rule that if they don't like to work on on something I won't buy it.
My bike hasn’t seen the dealer since it left. I bought the service manual and I have taken care of everything myself on my Honda.
Thanks for the info. on the price and service difference. So far I've been very happy with Orwell Motorcycles in Ipswich but shopping around is a good idea. Enjoy your trip to Scotland. Just note that when I took my H2 SX around the NC500 in 2021, both my bike, and a mates KTM SD1290GT ended up with holes in the radiators. It's worth fitting a guard if you haven't already.

In Australia it’s 6000k’s between servicing. $400 for a minor service (maybe 200 pounds?). It can be cheaper but my dealer recommends changing the air filter every service.
After a few realy terrible experiences of dealer workshops I swore off them about 40 years ago. Learning to be self reliant was a rewarding experience that I rolled out to everything I do. I see the need for the trade to exist, but prefer not to get involved as a customer.

A very useful vid Dave. I don’t understand how different dealers can charge different prices. It was the same for the big service on my bike.
Hi Dave ,I bought my sxse from completely in Staverton can't speak highly enough about there customer care from sales to service ,infact all the staff ,its a family run business, if you ever get to meet Rob or James Ayland who own and run it ,you will see what makes this company so special ,They have looked after me and my mate Chris brilliantly, especially Chris who bought his Kwak from another dealer and had some real issues , these guys sorted him out ,says it all really, now they have your business too , good choice mate

You don't have to use a Kawasaki dealer for service to keep a warranty you could use a small dealer, as long as they use genuine parts and are vat registered you won't affect your warranty, the only thing a small garage can't do is warranty claims

Great video! Dealership prices on servicing is all over the place. My first service on my CB650R was £140 which I thought was ok for a main dealer, thay have to make money and usually have large overheads. I serviced it again 6 months later myself for about £60 and used genuine parts. My second service cost me over £260!
Now that my warranty has expired, my bike will never see a main dealer again as I will be doing all the maintenence and servicing of the bike. The cost savings by me doing this is huge. Plus I document every piece of work carried out on the bike so when i come to sell it, I just print off the service file for the next owner. A fully stamped book of dealer stamps means absolutely nothing in my opinion, its the ongoing maintenence in-between servicing and how the bike is ridden is what matters

@MotovlogUK cheers buddy, its great when you find a dealer that's reasonable and you can trust. I trust my local dealership, great guys but the prices of servicing is just a bit too high in my opinion, especially when basic servicing is a simple job plus, I enjoy tinkering away in the garage with my bike or friends bikes and I never charge my friends when I service or repair their bikes as I enjoy it and it's effectively a hobby to me

My sx 1000 2017 i bought it new from GT kawasaki South Wales last service was at 19600 odd miles general service kick the tyres,oil filter they did flush the coolant and refill £ 256 last year it was £ 156 service with break fluids changed
Hi Dave, just a perspective here. If its the same format as my Versys 1K, the 2 yr 7500 mile service is quite a big one...such as Oil, filter, brake fluid, plugs (yes, seems bonkers), throttle body sync, and strip down and regrease of steering head bearings, which means bars off, wheel off, forks out etc..... I've done it myself and its in depth stuff. So, i can really understand a high bill assuming they really do everything thats on Mr Kawasaki's schedule. I'd go so far as to say it couldn’t possibly be done imho in two hours. It could be that your cheaper service agent is doing what they deem sensible and necessary rather than adhering strictly to the Kawa service spec sheet. Doesn't mean it's wrong....just a different philosophy but it might explain the big price differences you're seeing.
I think you're right mate. They said that no dealer would be stripping down and doing the head bearings at 7600 miles or changing the Spark plugs as they don't need it. They still look new at that mileage. I'll get it done on the big service next unless I get a new one :)

I called one local bike garage to do a service.
Yeah not an issue,we charge £80ph....
Not a chance of me paying that.
I want to get a bike again agter a long break but honestly im struggling to justify it what with the state of our roads and speed cameras everywhere plus the cost of insurance tax and servicing.
I have an ebike which though cost a faur bit to buy is probably more fun and only cost is the odd tyre brake pad etc, staying off road aeay ftom dangerous cars and the polution too whenever i can.
No doubt gov will figure out a way to make that illegal or miserable soon enough tjough...
Streetbike are shut shut. They won’t be opening them doors again 😢 They wasn’t the best any road. The price of services are stupid it’s like insurance. One big game of bingo 🤦🏼♂️
The Cradley Kawasaki we all new from the 70s no longer exists. Recently sold too a group .

Cradley kawasaki is too expensive. After my first service all the old oil was all over the place; on tires, headers, engine etc. Avoid. Won't be using them
Enjoyed the video. The average speed cameras are a covert means of extorting money from ordinary road users. The politicians who have enabled this theft travel in chauffeur-driven cars or by helicopter. You Brits elected them. But why buy a bike capable of exceeding the 50mph limit by some 130mph, and even be limited by how many miles you are allowed to do?
@@m2menuiserie540 good points pal. I bought this particular bike because it’s gorgeous and it’s not about the top end for me. It’s about the torque and the thrill. Also I might track day it. Never done that before. I limited myself buddy when I purchased so that was my fault in the miles 😣 it’s all good though. Just means I have to pay some money back when I hand it in at the end of the term. Thanks for watching 🫡
@@MotovlogUK My powers of reasoning failed me too. I think my Honda CB1000 Black Edition is gorgeous. At 73 I know I'm at least 20 years too old ever to track day it. But the CB's top end is theoretically a good 40mph slower than your Ninja H2, which therefore entitles me to hypocritical comments. Enjoy and ride safe!

@@nicoswesterop8800 what I have learnt is don't pay cash for anything. Get it on finiance and if there ever a problem the finance company will sort it. Dealers take notice of them.

Call the pcp company and tell them . They altered mine for nothing if your over the annual mileage it will cost a fortune it’s normally pence per mile which if your mileage is thousands over it will be a fortune have fun ill be five minutes x gods country 🎉

Good morning Dave….great content once again buddy….Thinking of putting my money down on one of these …unsure if its going to be the sx or the sxse yet….Going to trade in my gen 2 Busa as Im finding the riding position a bit of a stretch and the rear suspension so hard with my height and weight of 5’8 and 10.5 stone🥴
How’s the riding position on this compared if you’ve ever ridden a Busa?
@@markjones3551 hey buddy thank you. Never ridden a Busa. I’d get out on a H2 SX for an hour mate to be sure it fits you. I find it comfy but leaned over a bit. I am a short arse though lol. I’d get the SE with the performance and touring packs on if you can 🫡
@@markjones3551 just read your post again. Seems we’re pretty much same size and weight. If you can get the model with the semi active electronic suspension you can adjust to suit yourself. I have a soft and squishy mode for long miles lol

Rip off! I use my local independent shop for all our servicing. Warranty is not affected providing genuine parts used.

Thank god the UK left the EU because all the namby pamby rules and regulations that the EU imposed were originally thought up and promoted by the UK. So its actually the EU taking back control and we are no longer at risk of having all these speed cameras imposed on us in Ireland. Driving in the UK is just depressing and I have not visited since the brexit vote and have no wish to anytime soon. Pity you did not show us more of the bike.
