I WISH I still had cable so that I could playlist ALL the Jeffrey Wright works! Such a brilliant, talented & underspoken character actor for all seasons. Yet his profile has never been elevated to the level it otherwise would’ve been expected to have been since Basquiat. He was appropriately slimy in Boardwalk Empire, genius in Shaft, sooooo lovable in Cadillac Records, and sooooo heartbreaking in Manchurian Candidate.
I’m certain that his privacy is of paramount importance to his work. I’m sure he’s not about to embroil himself into “politics” that aren’t even political realistically, & are just team sports at current levels of deprivation & in the absence of acumen by anybody under 50, & by the shocking number over that age who can’t manage to demonstrate either ability nor astute sets of skills & qualifications themselves, with some rare exceptions.
But I do wish Mr. Jeffrey Wright WOULD narrate another public service PBS series-a real one this time-about voting, legislating, campaigning & the way a democratic republic operates when its citizens aren’t confused, confounded & being played like fiddles so some outmoded, outdated “parties” can say they “won” something, when both of them should’ve moved away a long, long time ago!! Perhaps he’d have to FIND a venue where “parties” are fine to have, but where the people understand that a “party” is not a political entity, nor a political process, by definition.
No candidates for office may have that level of erudition & political savvy anymore, if they ever did. But Jeffrey Wright actually does! And if not, his range of skill could convince any audience that he understands the words coming out of his mouth. Best Wishes to him & to his family!

To this day I think Jeffrey Wright's role in Basquiat was his best ever. I fell in love with him in that film about street artist Jean Michel Basquiat. And Benicio del Toro was brilliant as his druggie friend. David Bowie played Andy Warhol and there were so many other fabulous actors in it - a must see film.
Met him in the early 2000’s he’s a kind man as well as an awesome actor! ❤

The first thing I remember seeing Jeffrey Wright in was the Young Indiana Jones series which introduced me to the music of Sidney Bechet and also was the only Young Indy episode to feature Harrison Ford.

Wright has a real gift - a voice that commands attention. I would listen to him say anything. He had a really interesting story about Harrison Ford, both good advice in general and revelatory about Ford’s character.

Such a great actor. Kimmel isn’t the best fit for someone as thoughtful and smart as Wright imo. Colbert would have had a real conversation with him, Jimmy never really goes deeper than simple talk show questions
Funny - I noticed his son in the background of the skit in the monologue and thought, "Who's that handsome devil?" I'm guessing that, since both his kids are sitting in the front row here, that he was intentionally placed in that skit for some exposure.

He's not the most emotive guy, but hes so nice, not super, but just a bit cool because he's nit trying to be loved by everyone, clearly not the celeb looking for fans. Love that he offered the hand at the end, I'm sure many do & we don't see it on shows, but seldom see a handshake at the end
At the end when Jimmy said “I will see you soon”, I think he meant the Oscars. Nice
