Reading about Roger Waters is quite fascinating. His parents, literally teachers, taught him so much. His mother travelled up to the North of England and taught there. She was somewhat a radical so it is clear where the frontman gets the cut of his jib. _‘Mother do you think they’ll drop the bomb’._ His parents told him to make up his own mind about a lot of things. A bit before my time, and never partook of the herbal puff stuff. My pals did, my best pal dropped dead, my other pal who picked him up was really into Pink Floyd. A strange thing happened. When my pal died young, everyone I knew him through stopped contacting me. It does not bother me but I had never heard of it and do not know what that is called. I remember this band had a poster/ album cover with a lot of beds lined up on a beach. There is one with lightbulbs I think, and a guy on fire shaking hands with another guy. The son of the guitarist tried to pull down a statue in England. I would say they are more evocative rather than ‘greatest’ or ‘profound’. I wonder if they’ve done film score work. That album on Biss’s thumbnail has never been an OOP, out of print since its release I am sure. Hugely successful band. and huge extra points they are not Coldplay.
Disagree - I'm almost 60 years old now & have been trying to get into Pink Floyd for over 40 years but I just can't do it; I still find them as pretentious, dull & boring as I ever did even though my attempt to like them has resulted in me owning 11 of their albums.

Funnily enough I just bought 4 more Pink Floyd albums (CDs) - The Division Bell, Delicate Sound Of Thunder, Pulse & The Endless River though I am yet to listen to them. As with all my Floyd albums I bought them second hand, from a charity shop for 50p each. I have some vinyl albums (Relics, Ummagumma & another couple that I can't remember the titles of) that I bought at car boot sales for 20p each. I wouldn't pay full price for new albums. Maybe it'll just click with me one day & I'll finally "get it" but I'm not holding my breath!! The money I pay for these albums is so little that if I just lost it out of my pocket I wouldn't notice it was gone & maybe they'll be worth something one day - probably when Gilmour or Waters dies!

Something else is going on ... some part of you keeps getting drawn into Pink Floyd. Why?... PLEASE listen to this album in its entirety , this is concept album where songs flow one into another, and listening to individual songs takes away from the experience the band wanted to present, Im not saying you cant listen to individual songs from the album ever, BUT reacting to the entire album is the best way to appreciate the masterpiece it is. There is a reason its been on the charts since its release in 1972!
this is my favorite pink floyd song. it really kind of walks you through the stages of life. its crazy to think they wrote this song in their twenties.
It's been decades that I cite this song as my favorite one (although it's hard to have a true "favorite"), and my favorite solo, and I was often confronted to people (in a peaceful way) citing "Comfortably Numb" or so. I'm happy to see this song gets more recognition since I watch reacts on CZcams. Sadly DSOTM suffer from being "the most sold album", and there's often a "snobbism" reaction of trying to avoid citing it... But DSOTM is still the first album of their golden arc, so even if the 3 followings are masterpieces, undoubtedly, there's (to me) a "prize" to be the first one. DSOTM is indeed the best album in Space Time, it's one of the "perfect albums".

And you mentioned Space in your comment, and I don’t know if you know the fact, that this album was printed on an 18 carat gold plate and was send to space with other voices, and still traveling in space on the board of the “ Voyager one “ ? My memory is not as sharp as it should be, because it is maybe I mixed up the numbers of Voyager one or two. But it’s really doesn’t matter, what matters is the message about our little miserable being in the universe!
Looking at the face of young people listening to this song loving the music, but not understanding how the words cut into an old man’s heart like mine. If you live your life with this song, like I have one day, you will understand, and realize the true greatness of dark side of the Moon.
If you haven't done it already, this leads right into the female vocals in the incomparable "Great Gig In the Sky". They really go together. It's weird hearing one without the other. Same with "Brain Damage / Eclipse". Everyone here would LOVE to see you react to ALL of those! (psst. everybody. back me up on this!) Also, Nick Mason uses lighted drumsticks that change color during the opening drum part when they play this live. At least he did on the "Pulse" concert video. It's a pretty cool effect. Check it out!
Definitely Biss should sit down and listen / react to the whole Dark Side Of The Moon Album all in one go. The Album is really designed to be listened to as a whole, rather than in bits and pieces, though each song is excellent on its own. It is just that the whole thing is a different experience

Very good case to make for either of those, but I would choose "Pulse" because of the immediacy of the live experience and the spectacular visuals that add so much to it. But the original, come on. @@carlgrove8793 I guess it’s the unknowing. You’re correct, I assume I will cease to exist when I die. The absence of all is something I can’t wrap my head around. Recently someone posed the question to me, do I remember when I came to exist? And I don’t…but in a weird way that’s kind of comforting because that doesn’t terrify me and I assume it’s a similar state. I mostly try not to think about it. I can go down that rabbit hole in my head and really freak myself out, so I try to avoid dwelling on it.

I would have been 12 years old when I first heard this track, I'm 62 now, 50 years later it still sounds so good, I never get tired of hearing it, probably one of the greatest tunes ever made...

That line hits extremely hard the older you get and realize just how often you find yourself "behind" on something for one reason or another, only to suddenly realize "If I had only done ...... earlier".

The ending of "Time" seemed a little abrupt because on the album it flows right into the next song, "The Great Gig in the Sky". That song also flows thematically from "Time", and it has some more of the female vocal you enjoyed in "Time", so that could be a great next Pink Floyd reaction for you.
It's not the ending of "Time", the song ends even more abruptly, because it's directly chained to "Breathe (reprise)" just at the end of the lyrics («...the song is over, thought I something more to say...» CUT !! This is the end of the song, the next notes are from Breathe...)
@@garryiglesias4074 Usually, "Breath (reprise)" is seen as a part of the "Time" track, that consists of two parts (there are differences on vinyl and different CD versions though). I think, you can listen to "Time" and "Breathe (reprise)" as one song, while "The Great Gig in the Sky" is more optional (although still recommended). Very best is listening to the whole DSOTM album in one turn, that's for sure!
This song made me cry at 12-13 when I first discovered it. It was about 35 years ago, I still have chills and tears when I listen to this best album in Space Time.

The fact that this album was recorded in 1968-1970 time period with the equipment they had back then, is simply remarkable and it’s a masterpiece. This album is number one of all time for me, it deserves to be listened start to finish in a dark room with your eyes closed and great quality headphones. There is a documentary out there that is about the recording of this album, it makes you really appreciate the music and the genius behind this album. Highly recommend to watch then listen to the album in its entirety
The female vocals you liked was that of Clare Torry. The next song on the same album that Time comes from is called The Great Gig In The Sky which Clare Torry performs her magic as the lead vocalist on. You should definitely react to this song.
I was a little younger than you when this album came out in 1973. So happy to see your generation's reaction. Listen to it 50 years from now and you'll hear it from a different perspective. I have seen them twice in concert and "epic" best describes them. Pink Floyd, their music/lyrics are in fact, timeless. 50 years from now people will listen and it will have the same punch as today. Amazing.
I can remember exactly when and where I was the first time I heard this, 1983, and my uncle's house. We were fixing my father's breaks. I was eight, and it seared itself into my mind. Now it's one of my favorite albums.

I listened to this album repeatedly as I grew older, and that line, "No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun" really haunted me at times. But now I can just relax and breathe it in once more with pleasure. And it means a lot to see someone such as yourself newly exposed to it. If you want to hear another epic track of theirs, I would recommend "Us and Them" from the same album.

"Time" actually ends on the line "the time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say," and is very much a metaphor for life itself; that we start out with all the time in the world, only to realise later that it is more precious and finite than we thought. For so many people, time runs out when they still have so much more to do.
One of the best albums of all time. I recently found out that the ticking clock sound was done with a bass guitar by palm muting the strings and alternate picking with the thumb and a finger.

My favorite song by Pink Floyd is "High Hopes". I'm going against the mainstream with that, but I think the song is a masterpiece that makes you sad, happy, melancholic and light as a feather at the same time. Try it in a private, quiet minute ;)
Treat yourself and watch the live version from the Pulse concert. It'll blow your mind. On a side note I've been listening to this album for 50 years now. It still stands the test of time. 😊
Visually, I preferred the Delicate Sound version, actually filmed in 35mm as apposed to digital format, which suffered from wash out from stage lights. Saw Delicate live so maybe that why too. 💕

Pink Floyd was founded in 1965 by Syd Barrett, (guitar lead vocals) Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright. Under Barrett's leadership they released two charting singles and the successful debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn 1967. My favorite song from Barrett was "See Emily Play" which was reportedly about a girl named Emily, who Barrett claimed to have seen while sleeping in the woods after taking a psychedelic drug. In April of 1968 Barrett was ousted from the band amid speculation of mental illness and excessive use of psychedelic drugs. Some say he was intentional overdosed on drugs and was never the same after that, who knows. In 1978 when his money ran out he went into seclusion moving back to Cambridge to live with his mother. Barrett was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Although Barrett had not appeared or spoken in public since the mid 1970s, he did visit his sister's house in November 2001 to watch the BBC Omnibus documentary made about him. Reportedly he enjoyed seeing Mike Leonard again, calling him his teacher, he also enjoyed hearing "See Emily Play". Barrett died at home in Cambridge on July 7th 2006 at the age of 60.

The opening alarms are the start of life, followed by the wasting of time because you're young, followed by the wasting of effort in middle age (the plans that come to aught), and followed by the old age of just wanting to warm your bones beside the fire, finally with the tolling of the iron bell, which is part of the softly spoken magic spell (the funeral rites which await us all). Every stage of life makes this song deeper.

You really have a beautiful way with words in your analysis and insights, which even many much older people don't have. This song still makes me think deeply even 40+ after I first heard it. It is a joyous experience watching newer generations of young people discovering and appreciating Pink Floyd, some of the best music from my youth, and probably ever. Dark Side Of the Moon and also the Beatles Sgt Pepper, were probably the 2 greatest and influential albums of the last 50 years. Many people will still be listening to the Beatles and Pink Floyd in another 50 years, but very few others so far.
I love that you get goose bumps at certain sounds and words - you are an empath - you sense and feel meaning in words and music - not everyone is like that. I'm 72 years old and even I get goose bumps at songs and lyrics that I have heard a hundred times before. I also like that you told us that you have ambition and you always wish there was more time to experience all the things you want and need to do in a given day. If I were a young fellow - I would dream of having a girl / woman like you in my life. I know there is no shortage of age appropriate men / guys who would vie for your attention...I love how many times you repeated the words "my family" and "working" - you would be a wonderful catch of a lucky man...IMHO. I have watched 6 or 7 of your reaction videos and I have decided to go ahead and subscribe.
Pink Floyd are more than just a band. They are a mindset. A philosophy. Their music along with Roger Waters' runs in my veins and played a big role in shaping how I look at the world when I was young. When I was a teenager, I used to sit with friends every time one of us manages to buy a cassette of one of their albums. Back then there was no internet. We used to stop the track every few seconds and type down the lyrics, then have long discussions about every song. Some recommendations though: Shine on your crazy diamond, Hey you, Coming back to life, welcome to the machine, the whole Animals album. But reading the lyrics is a must to truly taste the beauty of their work.
Bring more pink floyd songs to react. Songs like another brick in the wall, hey you, lost for words, high hopes, confortably numb also are cool. I hope you react and enjoy from them. You such a beautiful woman.

pink floyd is one of the best bands on earth. they are so awesome. i grew up listening to pink floyd since i was about 9 (1968) and i liked them straight away and over time they just got better and more awesome. they belong in musician heaven forever and ever

My memory is not as sharp as it should be, because it is maybe I mixed up the numbers of Voyager one or two. But it’s really doesn’t matter, what matters is the message about our little miserable being in the universe!
Looking at the face of young people listening to this song loving the music, but not understanding how the words cut into an old man’s heart like mine. If you live your life with this song, like I have one day, you will understand, and realize the true greatness of dark side of the Moon.
If you haven't done it already, this leads right into the female vocals in the incomparable "Great Gig In the Sky". They really go together. It's weird hearing one without the other. Same with "Brain Damage / Eclipse".

Also, Nick Mason uses lighted drumsticks that change color during the opening drum part when they play this live. At least he did on the "Pulse" concert video. It's a pretty cool effect. Check it out!

@@carlgrove8793 I guess it’s the unknowing. You’re correct, I assume I will cease to exist when I die. The absence of all is something I can’t wrap my head around. Recently someone posed the question to me, do I remember when I came to exist? And I don’t…but in a weird way that’s kind of comforting because that doesn’t terrify me and I assume it’s a similar state. I mostly try not to think about it. I can go down that rabbit hole in my head and really freak myself out, so I try to avoid dwelling on it.

I’m more concerned about being a good father and husband. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on that though but for sure some times I feel like I come up short. It’s no where near as scary to me as ceasing to exist though. Maybe because it’s totally out of my control?

I would have been 12 years old when I first heard this track, I'm 62 now, 50 years later it still sounds so good, I never get tired of hearing it, probably one of the greatest tunes ever made...
"Ten years have passed you by, nobody told you when to run, now you've missed the starting gun"..... That line hits extremely hard the older you get and realize just how often you find yourself "behind" on something for one reason or another, only to suddenly realize "If I had only done ...... earlier".
You can always run a little faster. But, as soon as you do, you realise that that's not what it's all about.

Yesterday I was your age, now today I woke up and I'm 51. That's what it feels like. This song hits hard. The "every year is getting shorter" line actually seems real.

The ending of "Time" seemed a little abrupt because on the album it flows right into the next song, "The Great Gig in the Sky". That song also flows thematically from "Time", and it has some more of the female vocal you enjoyed in "Time", so that could be a great next Pink Floyd reaction for you.
It's not the ending of "Time", the song ends even more abruptly, because it's directly chained to "Breathe (reprise)" just at the end of the lyrics («...the song is over, thought I something more to say...» CUT !! This is the end of the song, the next notes are from Breathe...)
@@garryiglesias4074 Usually, "Breath (reprise)" is seen as a part of the "Time" track, that consists of two parts (there are differences on vinyl and different CD versions though). I think, you can listen to "Time" and "Breathe (reprise)" as one song, while "The Great Gig in the Sky" is more optional (although still recommended). Very best is listening to the whole DSOTM album in one turn, that's for sure!

This song made me cry at 12-13 when I first discovered it. It was about 35 years ago, I still have chills and tears when I listen to this best album in Space Time.

The fact that this album was recorded in 1968-1970 time period with the equipment they had back then, is simply remarkable and it’s a masterpiece. This album is number one of all time for me, it deserves to be listened start to finish in a dark room with your eyes closed and great quality headphones. There is a documentary out there that is about the recording of this album, it makes you really appreciate the music and the genius behind this album. Highly recommend to watch then listen to the album in its entirety
The female vocals you liked was that of Clare Torry. The next song on the same album that Time comes from is called The Great Gig In The Sky which Clare Torry performs her magic as the lead vocalist on. You should definitely react to this song.
I was a little younger than you when this album came out in 1973. So happy to see your generation's reaction. Listen to it 50 years from now and you'll hear it from a different perspective. I live in a convalescent home and for the last 4 years I have seen 12 people leave this mortal coil for one reason or another mostly due to age-induced illness but also for something as insideous the coronavirus... my point is time waits for noboady .. if you have billions or pennies .. time tempered by death comes for us all .. and may I say watching you and listening to your words of wisdom in a language that is not your own .. the impact they have on me is even more poignant and insightful thank you for being you

I can remember exactly when and where I was the first time I heard this, 1983, and my uncle's house. We were fixing my father's breaks. I was eight, and it seared itself into my mind. Now it's one of my favorite albums.

I'm 71 years old, and I remember the release of this album, "Dark Side of the Moon," in 1973 when I was 21.
I listened to this album repeatedly as I grew older, and that line, "No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun" really haunted me at times.
But now I can just relax and breathe it in once more with pleasure. And it means a lot to see someone such as yourself newly exposed to it.
If you want to hear another epic track of theirs, I would recommend "Us and Them" from the same album.

"Time" actually ends on the line "the time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say," and is very much a metaphor for life itself; that we start out with all the time in the world, only to realise later that it is more precious and finite than we thought. For so many people, time runs out when they still have so much more to do.
Pink Floyd "high hopes" the best
One of the best albums of all time. I recently found out that the ticking clock sound was done with a bass guitar by palm muting the strings and alternate picking with the thumb and a finger.

My favorite song by Pink Floyd is "High Hopes". I'm going against the mainstream with that, but I think the song is a masterpiece that makes you sad, happy, melancholic and light as a feather at the same time. Try it in a private, quiet minute ;)

Visually, I preferred the Delicate Sound version, actually filmed in 35mm as apposed to digital format, which suffered from wash out from stage lights. Saw Delicate live so maybe that why too. 💕
Hola Biss. They used the first part of this song on a few game show way back in the days. The host would ask a question and the contestant (s) would have 10-20 seconds to answer.
Pink Floyd was founded in 1965 by Syd Barrett, (guitar lead vocals) Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright. Under Barrett's leadership they released two charting singles and the successful debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn 1967. My favorite song from Barrett was "See Emily Play" which was reportedly about a girl named Emily, who Barrett claimed to have seen while sleeping in the woods after taking a psychedelic drug. In April of 1968 Barrett was ousted from the band amid speculation of mental illness and excessive use of psychedelic drugs. Some say he was intentional overdosed on drugs and was never the same after that, who knows. In 1978 when his money ran out he went into seclusion moving back to Cambridge to live with his mother. Barrett was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Although Barrett had not appeared or spoken in public since the mid 1970s, he did visit his sister's house in November 2001 to watch the BBC Omnibus documentary made about him. Reportedly he enjoyed seeing Mike Leonard again, calling him his teacher, he also enjoyed hearing "See Emily Play". Barrett died at home in Cambridge on July 7th 2006 at the age of 60.
Technically, you played two songs: "Time" and "Breathe (Reprise)". "Time" flows seamlessly into "Breathe (Reprise)", which is why they're usually bundled together and not many people know that they are actually two songs. The song "Time" actually ends after the lines "The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say", when there is a subtle change in instrumentation.
I think this is the best reaction I have seen you do. Very honest, insightful, and sharing of your own thoughts and experiences. Pink Floyd's music often triggers introspection and self-analysis. This particular album, Dark Side of the Moon, has so many great tracks that make the listener really think. Very well done reaction!
You may note that "Great Gig in the Sky" follows Time and the last lines of Time could describe a funeral (bells toil, faithful to their knees) and GGITS may give a voice to the 5 stages of grief (anger, denial, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance)

The opening alarms are the start of life, followed by the wasting of time because you're young, followed by the wasting of effort in middle age (the plans that come to aught), and followed by the old age of just wanting to warm your bones beside the fire, finally with the tolling of the iron bell, which is part of the softly spoken magic spell (the funeral rites which await us all). Every stage of life makes this song deeper.

Female vocals are Clare Torry, who also featured on The Great Gig In The Sky (studio version from This same album - The Dark Side Of The Moon) Worth doing a reaction video to the album version of The Great Gig (aka death) and hear the full might of Clare's original vocals. She was brought in as session singer and guided to improvise the vocals from cards shown to here by the band in the control room while she sang in the recording room. An all time classic Pink Floyd song from an all time classic album from my youth

You really have a beautiful way with words in your analysis and insights, which even many much older people don't have. This song still makes me think deeply even 40+ after I first heard it. It is a joyous experience watching newer generations of young people discovering and appreciating Pink Floyd, some of the best music from my youth, and probably ever. Dark Side Of the Moon and also the Beatles Sgt Pepper, were probably the 2 greatest and influential albums of the last 50 years. Many people will still be listening to the Beatles and Pink Floyd in another 50 years, but very few others so far.
I love that you get goose bumps at certain sounds and words - you are an empath - you sense and feel meaning in words and music - not everyone is like that. I'm 72 years old and even I get goose bumps at songs and lyrics that I have heard a hundred times before. I also like that you told us that you have ambition and you always wish there was more time to experience all the things you want and need to do in a given day. If I were a young fellow - I would dream of having a girl / woman like you in my life. I know there is no shortage of age appropriate men / guys who would vie for your attention...I love how many times you repeated the words "my family" and "working" - you would be a wonderful catch of a lucky man...IMHO. I have watched 6 or 7 of your reaction videos and I have decided to go ahead and subscribe.

Pink Floyd are more than just a band. They are a mindset. A philosophy. Their music along with Roger Waters' runs in my veins and played a big role in shaping how I look at the world when I was young.
When I was a teenager, I used to sit with friends every time one of us manages to buy a cassette of one of their albums. Back then there was no internet. We used to stop the track every few seconds and type down the lyrics, then have long discussions about every song.
Some recommendations though: Shine on your crazy diamond, Hey you, Coming back to life, welcome to the machine, the whole Animals album. But reading the lyrics is a must to truly taste the beauty of their work.
Bring more pink floyd songs to react. Songs like another brick in the wall, hey you, lost for words, high hopes, confortably numb also are cool. I hope you react and enjoy from them. You such a beautiful woman.

pink floyd is one of the best bands on earth. they are so awesome. i grew up listening to pink floyd since i was about 9 (1968) and i liked them straight away and over time they just got better and more awesome. they belong in musician heaven forever and ever
