- hey everyone, here are my 2022 college decision reactions! i applied to 16 schools, which i just realized while writing this is kinda funny cuz i’m also 16 years old. but yeah hopefully this video has helped or entertained you in some way. if you have any questions just comment them down below, and like i said, if people actually watch this then i probably will make a separate stats/ecs video. anyways feel free to subscribe or check out some of my other videos if you want.

Nice video! Not everyone gets into their dream schools, not all dreams are realized at the first attempt. But it doesn't mean you will not realize them in the future. There are so many opportunities ahead as a freshman. Find your interests and talents, the earlier you start, the better achievements you will have! Wish you lots of success in a new journey!

Congrats! I was thinking the UF rejection was because you were a little overqualified for the school, I don’t see another reason why they would have rejected with a 1580 SAT and amazing ECs like you have… anyways, good luck and you will do great wherever you go!
Thanks a lot! Now that I think about it, you're probably right about UF. I guess I just didn't realize that was a possibility before.
Yeah, it’s something called “Yield Protection” where middle-tier universities reject overqualified students because they assume the student in question will get into higher level universities. A lot of articles online if you want to check it out.
Oh yeah I've heard of yield protection before, but I somehow just didn't connect the dots. I kinda thought that maybe I was unlucky or that UF was unusually selective this year. At this point, it's no big deal though, just something interesting to speculate about.

Thank you! Purdue was certainly one of my top options, but in the end, I decided to attend Texas A&M, mostly due to the scholarships that I got.

have you read into the recent lawsuits of affirmative actions? Harvard and the elite schools aren't very friendly to asian applicants but keep your head up, you did great!
yeah, i've certainly considered that, but by now i can say that i was probably better off going to Texas A&M than any of these elite schools, as the financial burden is significantly lower, and the wealth of opportunity & quality of education here is probably just as good as the big-name schools, especially for our engineering department, which consistently ranks in the top 15 (not that rankings are everything)

Yep I completely agree. That's why I listed my stats, although I will probably try to make another more detailed stats video if I have time.
I think is more important the major than the school. Also, it may be better being a big fish swimming with small fish.
valid points. tho certain schools are better for certain majors, so the school does matter to an extent

yeah lol 😂 a lot of people use that music build up right before a big acceptance, which i think is kind of idiotic because it just gives away the result. so i thought it'd be interesting if i put a twist on it, as somewhat of a form of satire

I ended up choosing Texas A&M, because it's a pretty good engineering school and I got a lot of scholarships there

Seriously, they rejected a decently smart (judging by your scores and credentials) and hard working person! It sucks to be an Asian...
Well, it is what it is. Maybe being a male asian did hurt my chances, but at this point, it doesn't really matter that much - in the end, I'm still going to a great school where I am just as able to succeed as if I went to one of the ivies/elite schools.
