  • Living in Cambodia is awesome, but you'll find that most expats are taking quick trips over to Bangkok around once a year. There are many reasons for this, and I'll go over them in this video. I'll also talk about the best ways to get there, how long it takes from door to door, which airport to land in, the best cheap airlines, how to get to the beach fast, and more.

    Off topic - but if I may can you explain the reasons for choosing pp over Siem reap? 👍👍

    • @vannakkh964
      @vannakkh964 Před 2 měsíci

      PP has easy access to Kampot, Kep, Sihanoukville or and Siem Reap. Has more things to do, more dining options.
      Siem Reap is special if you love quiet place, friendly people.

    A friendly tip from Team Thailand: the big bkk airport is pronounced "Suwannapoom". I know its spelled differently but you gotta get this right. There is no i at the end and it's not b it's a p for the final syllable. The transliteration is brutal so it's understandable since you were saying it phonetically. But I'm just trying to help a brother out. Suwannapoom. Say it. Say my name. Suwannapoom. You're goddamned right.
    And it's Don Muh-ahng airport. Doesn't rhyme with Wang. It's a softer a sound that has an h next to it. And don't get me started on Pattaya. Actually I have come to like the Brit mispronunciation a bit. 😂. Happy trails in Central Asia.

      The oldest Southeast Asian inscription from Cambodia, dated to the 7th century, issued during the reign of King Isanavarman I, identifies Suvarnabhumi with the kingdom of Chenla (6th-9th century), the successor of Funan (1st-7th century). In modern Thailand, government proclamations and national museums insist that Suwannaphum was somewhere on the coast of the central plain, especially at the ancient city of U Thong, which might be the origin of the Mon Dvaravati Culture.[28] These claims are not based on any historical records but on archaeological evidence of human settlements in the area dating back more than 4,000 years and the findings of 3rd-century Roman coins.[29] The Thai government named the new Bangkok airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport, after the mythic kingdom of Suwannaphum, honouring this tradition that is still debated by scholars[who?] for the same reasons as the Burman claim. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suvarnabhumi

    Ph in Thailand has a (P) sound! If you think about Phuket most people instinctively would say Poo Ket which is Correct! Suvarnahbhumi is (Sue Wahn Nah Poom), Don Mueng = Don Muhng like Mung Bean!

    The airport is pronounced Sovanna Phum, meaning "Golden Land" in both Khmer and Thai. No idea why the Thai's spell it like that LOL.

    Please, could you bring some awareness of the shooting in Pehn houth yesterday. Just a few blocks from my condo. My Khmer financee is telling me that the shooter Srey Sina, 50 (allegedly) will probably be able to escape justice because of his title and wealth. The victims were 27 and 25 year old newlyweds of just 4 months. Any awareness and pressure to bring the beautiful young couple justice will be greatly appreciated.
