You don't know where Ilia comes from, he hasn't needed to come to the ground to win yet but he is a BJJ black belt with wrestling background, and he trains with a double world champion in grappling and grappling-gi that says Ilia's level is high even for specialists, but maybe some random guy on youtube knows better... XD
Emmett's corner didn't help him much. After the first round they told him that Ilia's left jab was lazy. Ilia then proceeded to pick him apart with that jab for the next 20 minutes

Ilia should have at least a 9 in every aspect of the game. I get it you just don’t know him enough but if you follow his career a little closer you’ll notice how he’s beaten people. He submitted a grappler in Bryce Mitchell and outstroke a striker. Let alone how he finished Ryan Hall who was supposed to be invincible and nobody wanted to fight him and his imanari roll.

What impresses me most about Topuria is that he's only 26, not even in his prime yet, and he already fights like an old dog. I think he could put up a fight against Volk now, but in a couple of years he could dominate the division for years to come.

Volkanovski was losing in the stand up against Yair and he decided to take it to the ground almost the whole fight,Volkanovski has not yet fought elite strikers but let him step in the cage with El Metador and you will see levels
@@Holisync Volk hasn't fought elite strikers? Aldo, Holloway, and Rodriguez are some of the best strikers in UFC history. And Volk was not losing the stand up against Yair. He won the fight by rocking Yair and kneeing him in the body BEFORE taking him to the ground and finishing him there. He took the fight to the ground in the earlier rounds because it's idiotic to go toe-to-toe with an elite striker when you have a massive advantage on the ground.

VOLKANOVSKI WAS also rocked a couple of times by Islam Makhachev who isn't known as a striker, round 2 was 19 significant strikes for Islam and 11 for Volkanovski.. Don't try to make Volkanovski invincible bro,he is very beatable if we're being unbiased.. His recent fight he lost ilia has great chance of beating Volkanovski.
The way Ilia covers distance and lands that body head combo reminds me of Tyson. As a shorter fighter, its a smart move to study Tyson. Let's see how he does against someone with a good jab.

I like Ilia bro, but Volk is super fast. Event tho Volk might not KO Ilia, he can still get the W over him. we’ve seen Volk wrestle Islam and his take down defense is very good. Now Ilia vs Yair, I feel Ilia could impose his wrestling vs Yair, but Yair might not even let him get close with his kicks. Ilia could take Yair down by catching one of his kicks but Yair is offense from his guard is impressive and relentless with those elbows.

Ilia has the gift of "heavy hands" where he hits a guy + they fall in a heap - there's an immediate cut off between brain + body.
He's also a "submission specialist." In UFC Fight Island 5 he went up against Youssef Zalal + that fight highlighted his submissions. It went to the judges + he got the W.
He'll be champ soon - Volk will be his ultimate challenge in this division.

Volks days are numbered with Yair and Topuria on the horizon so Henry if you do fight for the featherweight title it will be with a dynamic athlete. I think it would be an amazing challenge for you and your wrestling could very well carry you to the promise land.

There’s levels give him Mr. Allen see if can put up the pace and balance of mma.
Allen fights too wildly, in the wrong meaning, that can be beneficial against agressive guys or passive guys with bad defense but will get punished heavily by experienced or tactical fighters. The fight won't sell good either since Allen hasn't grown a name or a character yet so Ilia has nothing to win there.
Next steps for Ilia need to be:
1) vs Max in Spain, hype, interesting fight (PPV), 1st event ever in spain, benefits for both fighters (Max beating an undefeated prospect, Ilia beating a former champion and being main event at his home building even a bigger name).
2) vs Volk for the tittle, a bit too soon for the UFC imo since they risk losing an undefeated prospect who they can sell with the likes of Max, Ortega or Yair before this happens. However Volk seems eager to fight him (afraid of waiting for him to mature more?) so it can be possible.
3) If #1 or #2 are not possible because of injuries or Volk going up to 155 again, Yair or Ortega could be good fights, both are more mediatic than Allen and #2 and #3 in the rankings, and may act as a possible last fight before the tittle shot of Illia in case he wins and would also mean a possible tittle shot for the one facing Illia in case they win.

The recency bias for topuria is CRAZY. I have really seen comments saying this guy could beat volk or holloway 🤣 topuria is yet to be tested. We can talk about the possibility of holloway after he beats yair/ortega/allen. Then, if he beats holloway, (which i dont see happening) we can talk about the fight with volk which he wont win as of right now. Definitely a prospect to keep our eyes on tho cuz he looks great.

bro, I know it's your honest opinion, but from my point of view Topuria is prepared to fight for the tittle with Volk and win. I'm from Spain and I have been following him sice he entered the UFC and I can tell that he has the level enought to win the title in the next fight. The fact is that until the Mitchell fight he has been under the radar and right now is when the people is starting to realise his level. So due to the fact that the people don't know really much about him and don't have the enought information, right now they don't see Ilia beating Volk. Also, he don't talk really much in english but when he does it looks like a little bit arrogant, but he has done a lot of interviews in spanish and I can tell that he is way more smarter than the people actually think and his IQ fight is at the top tier level.
My point is that when you don't really know about something you just say the most easy response which in this case is that the actual champion will beat him, but if you have seen his fights since 3 years ago and you have followed every step of his carrer is when you realize that it's way more different thant it looks on the first sight.
There’s no one else to challenge Volk if he ends up beating Yair. Would be stupid to let him fight Max to kill off another contender & no one really wants to see a fourth fight between them.
