The PECO track cleaner is designed for nickel silver model railway tracks.
These nickel silver rails do not rust and have no rust proofing coating that can be worn off like Scalextric track has.
About 1968 Scalextric did make 1/24 scale track with rust proof stainless steel rails to avoid the rust problem. More expensive and space consuming so did not catch on.

Hi there, as mentioned below....don’t use this PECO track cleaner apart from damaging your rails it leaves a dusty residue paste like substance which can get in your cars, pick ups etc. we have stopped using the track cleaners on our club model railways because of this. Excellent advice in the post below from Oliver.

Please take a moment to see our response to Olivers comments.
We advise on the video to use it on older track that you brought cheap from the Internet or like.
The next tips will be using a recommended product for NEW track.
Thanks for the comment, most appreciated.

Do NOT use the abrasive train track cleaners on scalextric track! It will cause it to rust. I have seen so many families follow this advice and end up with rusted dulled scalextric track.
Clean down Scalextric track rails with INOX MX3 and a microfiber cloth.

Hi Oliver, thanks for the feed back and yes, you're right. Track Fans, please note that this method is good for old, second hand track that you pick up online or at a vintage shop. I do mention this around 1:50 into the video but yes, well noted and maybe we weren't clear enough - Track Fans, don't use this on brand new track only old, battered track that you need some umph on and aren't planning on keeping for a long time or using in or on a fixed track.
I have ordered in a bottle of INOX-MX3 as the specification looks great with it being quite organic based. I'm looking forward to trying this - thank you for the tip, we'll cover the review in a future episode for all to learn. I'll run it on some battered track and see if there's a good alternative to the PECO rubber or Metal Polish from a previous episode.
If you follow the videos, I'm expanding the hobby for our nephew to follow, I appreciate this info, it's a great help as I wasn't aware of it yet so a great bit of knowledge for all budding Track Fans out there.
Have a good evening chap and many thanks for the note and ongoing support.
