ottimo binomio di due musicisti che riscattano quest'aria all'Accademia del Bel Canto ....usando tutti le possibilità di recuperare la bellezza di una canto pulito all'italiana sulla messa di voce/cadenze controllatissime/e pulizia negli arpeggi chiari come una luna allo zenith; Jaroussky è sempre stato scevro da scivolamenti nel barocco "arzigogolato"...l'uso del fiato di questo Artista assoluto e la complicità del suo accompagnatore esalta questo gioco di lucente timbro rendendo quest'aria in tutta la sua Bellezza...la chiusura è un Capolavoro, Chapeau a tutti due. Un artista è bene che rinnovi il modo di porgere e se ne ha le Capacità ripulire il bel canto da orpelli barocchi a volte usati per celare Magagne vocali...dette anche Falsettini!
I feel sorry for anyone unable to understand the pureness and elegance of a countertenor. The piece isn't virtuosic at all but he manages to submerse himself in emotion with minimal accompaniment and nail every single note. Truly the best countertenor I've come across.

Ormai comincio a darlo per scontato.
Perfetto attacco sul fiato, eccellente intonazione, suoni mai fissi (al contrario sempre vibranti e ricchi di armonici, un vero miracolo per un contro tenore) e per finire naturalezza ed eleganza (la tecnica eccellente non e'mai percepibile).
In sintesi: sembra quasi sia stato il Padreterno a dirgli : "Vai, e canta!"
...e credo proprio di non aver esagerato...

I am currently learning this song as a freshman voice education major, and I have never learned Italian, but my voice teacher is teaching me how to pronounce the words to sing the song. I am so excited to learn this song and preform in front of an audience.

Ive een leaning and singing this song for a while and had never managed to even hear a cover of it, only myself. I was NOT expecting that beautiful high note to come out of his mouth, I was definitely expecting this to be in a tenor or bass key but oml this man and both these people are amazing.

I realized that in my comment below, I failed to mention the other obvious contributor to this beautiful performance, which is of course the theorbo player. He sensitively accompanies Mr. Jaroussky, with every nuance perfectly played. Bravo!
Just keeping a theorbo in tune is an act of wonder! I played one for two years in college.

This is beauty requited. I have never seen such a beautiful performance. Philipe please do not change your voice to commercialize yourself. The trills make the story have an emotional catharsis, the dancer move and the willingness to expose yourself is a transparency that most singers lack. You have such a proficiency in performance. Incredibly beautiful. The key change to major at the end is, to my mind, one of the most beautiful moments of any song ever written. It is good to see it sung by a singer who can do it justice.

I hope you mean that in a posive way Kerry. My son of 17 sings it just in the same hight as Mr. Jarrousky. It's a non common gift when someone is able to sing at this hight. Although their speakingvoice is very common and mannlike heavy.
