Very impressive director. Raoul Peck is refreshing. Especially his statement of how he usually doesn't respect film made in Haiti because the dignity of the people are never considered.

I did see the film at a mall, and after the film, I had a very strange encounter: an older white woman approached me, asked me if I saw the film, and when I told her I did, showed me her ticket for “Hidden Figures”. I did not know why she was showing it to me, but she explained that she had bought the ticket, but could not watch another “Hollywood interpretation of the black experience” (her words), so she bought a ticket for “I Am Not Your Negro” and skipped the other film.
Make of that what you will.

Such a brilliant individual. And it's great to see the African diaspora produce its own narrative. OneLove!

Apathy is one of the worst emotional. It is like indifference.
I rather you hate or love, than be indifferent.
There is no passion and emotion associated with indifference or apathy. One becomes an objective if you are indifferent.
The truth must me addressed for one to appreciate the other. There is no remorse in apathy and indifference. I would rather we fight

I Loved the film;especially the part that challenged us to see the realities of the world and not fantasies.History teaches us that racism is alive and well and is an extension of the violence and slavery, a major part of our history. Having said that, as was pointed out in the film, until we want to deal with the realities of history and teach our children about slavery, about violence on which the country was built when the Indians were killed and murdered for the land and then you enslaved the people from Africa to build the country for economic reasons. that’s vital history. Until that story becomes a reality and we learn from it and Black lives begin to matter, the violence that we are experiencing today as a result of the violence that took place when the nation was built will continue.

Ian Luman this film says nothing about racism in America...but it does wonders to explain the damage that racism in America did to the black psyche. blacks are still struggling to find dignity in America. but this is one step that whites cannot help with, and it's one step that whites cannot do *for* blacks. Whites are to blame for destroying the black leadership that existed during the civil rights era, and for that we are to blame. But blacks must step forward and take advantage of affirmative action and the scholarships and grants that exist for blacks, in order for anything to change. And the only thing that will encourage blacks to do that is *black leadership*. This is why enlightened whites insist that black culture has to change, and why nothing *will* change until blacks adopt the *by the bootstraps* way of life that made America great for whites, and can make America great for blacks.

I am not to blame for any of this. Neither are you. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can heal.

@@widg3tswidgets416 How about blacks getting compensated for work they did for you WITHOUT PAY, in HARSH(to say the least) conditions, AGAINST THEIR OWN FREE WILL? Only then can we see any meaningful change. Black families never got their 40 acres and a mule, did they? Then you talk about pulling ourselves by our bootstraps. Fuck you. You got wealthy off of us.
