  • Hello all, in this video I capture the nebula NGC 7822 using the Askar FRA400 and asi2600mm pro during a full moon. I use capture this nebula using my widefield scope (Askar FRA400) and managed to capture 10 hours of total integration time.
    There was a full moon during the time of shooting, so the data is not perfect especially the Oiii, however, I was really happy with the results. I'm absolutely loving the Askar FRA400 at the moment, its seems to be a fantastic pairing with the asi2600mm pro. Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
    Equipment used:
    - asi2600mm pro
    - Askar FRA400
    - Antila Ha, Sii, and Oiii filters
    - IOptron CEM60 Mount
    - Asiair pro
    - ZWO asi120mm guide came with the ZWO f4 mini guide scope.
    - Stacked in APP, Processed in PixInsight, with final touches in Lightroom.
    Ha: 23 x 420 seconds
    Oiii: 31 x 420 seconds
    Sii: 32 x 420 seconds

    Awesome image. The colours are beautiful. I finally got my 2600 MC Pro fixed and trained on the N America and Pelican nebulas. I can’t believe how rich that star field is. Only obtained 3 hours of data before the clouds rolled in, but happy with my first attempt at these targets. Clear skies. Dr B from Manitoba, Canada 🇨🇦

      Thank you very much Brian. So glad you hear you finally have your 2600MC pro back, I know you've been waiting for a long time to get that back. I bet it felt great to have the rig back outside capturing data. I hope you get a good run of clear skies 👍

      Thanks very much Patrick. I was really pleased with how recoverable the Oiii was as the moon did impact it quite a lot.

    Fantastic image Russell. The full moon didn't seem to stop coming away with an awesome image - the joy of 3nm filters I guess. Love the colours in this.

      Thanks Logan, I know those narrowband filters are fantastic! The data was surprisingly detailed for a full moon, only really the Oiii that was impacted, but after some careful editing it turned out ok.

    Nice image Russell. I took this region back in 2020 but was quite close in. The widefield looks really nice and you have prompted me to take another look at it. Its great that modern filters allow us to image at this time of year even with a full moon. Well done mate and clear skies

    Estaba dudando de si comprar los filtros antlia o chroma y veo que funcionan bien! Enhorabuena!

    • @RussellsAstrophotography
      @RussellsAstrophotography  Před 2 lety

      I am very happy with the Antlia filters and know a lot of people who use them are also happy. There is some haloing with the Oiii filter and occasionally with the Sii, but apart from that they are excellent. The chroma ones might be technically slightly better (I've never used them)... but they are a lot more expensive. Thanks very much for watching, clear skies.
      I tried google translate here (apologies if it didn't work very well):
      Estoy muy contenta con los filtros Antlia y sé que mucha gente que los usa también está contenta. Hay algo de halo con el filtro Oiii y ocasionalmente con el Sii, pero aparte de eso son excelentes. Los croma pueden ser técnicamente un poco mejores (nunca los he usado)... pero son mucho más caros. Muchas gracias por ver, cielos despejados.

      thank you very much for your answer, and sorry for not having translated or that I meant hehe, my English is basic. I have the chroma of 36mm 5nm and the truth is that they go very well, now I want some of 2" for another efw but they are very expensive, so I will go with the antlia

    • @RussellsAstrophotography
      @RussellsAstrophotography  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you very much. Yes you can combine only Ha and Oiii. Most people assign the Ha to the Red and the Oiii to the Blue and Green channels, this is called the HOO palette and looks great. There are lots of HOO processing tutorials on CZcams. Thanks for watching 👍

    Excellent image Russell. I am suprised how well OIII came out. Which Antlia filters did you use? 3nm or 6nm? I am currently working on a project capturing data only in the astronomical twilight to see how this brighter sky impacts the overall image. Cheers, hendrik

    Hi Russell, I have a quick question I have the same camera and telescope as yours. I was wondering the scope comes with an adapter for the camera (m68-m48) just wondering do you put both adapters on then the filter wheel then camera? Or do you separate the adapter and just put the larger one on. Sorry just beginning and am trying to assemble everything.

    • @RussellsAstrophotography
      @RussellsAstrophotography  Před rokem +1

      Hi Michael, I attach both/all the adapters and then put the filter wheel on at the back of the scope. you don't need to worry about back focus, so any way you can attach the scope you should be fine. I hope this makes sense

    Hi Russell amazing image again. Still trying to get my head around narrowband. Did you include LRGB and calibration files to produce that image?, thanks

    • @RussellsAstrophotography
      @RussellsAstrophotography  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Steve. This was a narrowband image using the Ha, Sii and Oiii filters. I then assigned the Sii to the Red channel, the Ha to the Green Channel, and the Oiii to the Blue. This is often referred to as SHO or the Hubble Pallette. There are loads of fantastic Hubble palette tutorials on CZcams. I hope this helps? Thanks very much for watching 👍

    It’s also got a camera adapter ring so the whole adapter splits into three do you use all the adapters or just one with the asi2600mm plus filter wheel?

    Im tempted with the FRA500 but I still think the 400 has all my needs... as i also have an sct 8 with reducer.. would you have gone with the 500 and reducer instead of the 400 and the askar 80 you have?

    • @RussellsAstrophotography
      @RussellsAstrophotography  Před rokem

      I've never used the FRA500, but I've heard very good things. I love the FRA400 and the 80PHQ. the reducer works great with the 80PHQ as well. TBH, there isn't much difference between 500mm and 400mm focal length.

    Hi what is the size of the spacer you have between the dovetail and the rings?

    • @RussellsAstrophotography
      @RussellsAstrophotography  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Hector, sorry for the slow response. I’ve been away on holiday these past few weeks.
      Here are the spacers I use: the primaluce lab 30mm spaces ( www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/primaluce-lab-30mm-plus-spacers.html ) this allows me to mount the ASIAIR under the scope and also means I can move the scope higher on the mount for better balance. 👍
      Thanks for watching
