  • Hi ya'll!! It has been a WHILE, thought I would check in, let you know what's been going on over the past few months. As I mentioned on my IG account @jjackmoto, I have sold the XSR700. Don't worry, it's in great hands. I love riding, but my passion is and always has been cars. I was on the lookout for a classic muscle car for a while, and when I found this 1968 Mustang Coupe, I had to have it, but of course had to sell the bike first. I am incredibly excited to take you along as I work on this rolling project. I have done quite a few things already to get it in strong running condition, but there is plenty left to show you.
    What I have done already:
    -New ‪@FlowmasterInc‬ 40 series mufflers
    -New ‪@JEGSHighPerformance‬ Ceramic coated headers
-Dropped power steering slave cylinder 1" to accommodate headers.
-New Scott Drake heater core from ‪@cjponyparts‬
    -Replaced heater hoses
    -New halogen headlights
-New taillights and signal lights all the way around
-Replaced existing carb with Edelbrock 1405 600CFM performance carb
    -New Edelbrock fuel filter
-New American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels--17x7 up front, 17x8 out back wearing 225/45 front, 245/45 rear tires
-Replaced trans fluid pan gasket and fluid filter
    -All new autolite copper plugs
Things I have planned as funds and time permit:
    -New T-5 transmission
    - ‪@WilwoodDiscBrakes‬ power brake conversion.
-Install anchor in rear seat for child's seat
    -Complete cleanup of engine hoses/wires
    -New headlight switch
-New rear leaf springs (possible mid-leaf replacement for 1"drop)
-If above happens, go ahead and do a 1" Shelby drop in front
    -Complete suspension replacement
This list will no-doubt change daily. I bought this car to drive and enjoy, but along with that comes unexpected projects, and of course costs.
    Thank you all for watching!!

Bought identical car for my son after high school. He drove it for 3 years then wanted a car he didn’t have to store in the MI winters. I wish I’d kept it (56000 original miles). Yours looks and sounds great. Thanks for sharing.

My first car was a 68 coupe Blue with White soft top, 302 Auto with a C4 Trans. Great car. It never used any oil.. I had to replace my heater core as well, and yes it was hard. No room under the dash for that job.. It was the best car I've ever owned.. I miss her every day. But I have Great memories...

The clock was an option, and if it was not ordered you got the blank like you have. What I did on a '67 I had was put a small 2" tachometer in there from the back. Perfect fit and no modifications to the cluster, so you can always go back to original. Nice car!

I forgot to say. I had Hooker headers with Cherry Bomb mufflers duel exhaust in front of the rear tires. It had a real good sound I put my Headers on as well. Mine had power steering and power breaks. I had to put a new power steering arm on after I put the headers on. It burnt up, I learned that when my steering went out. It happened in front of an Auto parts store. So I went in and got one and installed it in the parking lot. Always smart to keep tools in the trunk for just such an occasion.. And I agree, I love the way the coupes look from behind. Mustangs are Great. Enjoy your Stang!!!

Owned my 1968 coupe since 1970. I stripped the paint and re-did it in T2- candy apple red, the original color, but in urethane and clear coat. Still has the original 289, Autolite 2100 and C4 in it. Even have the original hub caps. I was told by someone in Ford that from my VIN, my car was made in the last week before they switched to the 302 block.

@@JJackMoto Thanks. How many years ago did you fall for the 68? What else have you done to it? I would check the scupper drains in the fresh air pans in front of the windshield, you can get to them by sticking you hand up in them from the inside. They clog up with leaves and other debris, and then rust out causing water to leak into the car behind the dash, and ultimately rusting out the floors. You see on all these car shows floor patches being welded in on 67-68"s , but no one addresses the root cause. To get into those pans, and put a screen under those fresh air grills, requires major, major surgery. I solved the problem by putting large refrigerator magnet material over the vents when not driving it, and keeping the car in the garage. Had to replace both sides of the floor boards on mine.

I have a 67' in the same configuration. Same color and interior but my dash and door cards aren't black. Wood rimmed steering wheel. I have the center console and the upper console. I have a 351w with c4 and classic GT wheels with the indicator hood, rally lights. It really is a nice color combo and the black vinyl top looks great. Those torque thrusts do look nice...Do I wish I had a fast back instead of the coupe? Only because of the resale value. It's the same car. 67 and 68 are the prettiest mustangs in my opinion. • @JJackMoto
      @JJackMoto  Před 2 lety +1

A couple of things I have learned when buying long distance. 1) If it looks too good to be true, it is. 2) I never buy from an individual unless I have seen the car first. 3) If buying from a dealer or consignor, always spend the money to have a reputable inspector check it out first. You can find a good inspector for around $200 in most areas. It's worth every penny. 4) Pay extra for the covered shipping option. 5) Pricing is tricky with older cars because of the varying degrees of shape they are in. Spend as much time as possible researching comps for your area. Good luck, and thanks for watching!

This car is EXACTLY what I am looking for. Wanna sell it already? I will (respectfully) give you some old man advice now: Throw that pos Edelbrock carb in the trash and replace it with a Holley 600 single pumper. Your performance, especially throttle response, will improve far more than you think it could. I have done so on many 302s and a couple 390s. Holley has better idle and accelleration metering adjustments...you can adjust them with a screwdriver while the car is running. The Edelbrock you will have to pop open the metering rod covers on the top and try various sets of jets and rods - NONE of which will give you BOTH idle AND acceleration balance. But like I said the Holley can do so with a screwdriver and works better right out of the box than the Edelbrock could ever do. Trust me bro....you want better throttle response and accelleration replace the Edelbrock with the Holley.
Beautiful Mustang I just Love it.
Oh ya...if you do decide to try different jets and rods in the Edelbrock, be very careful when removing the little brass screw from the rod cover. It is super soft, easy to strip or the head snap off, or fall down into the intake manifold.

    • @JJackMoto
      @JJackMoto  Před 3 lety +1

Thanks for the advice Dave!! And thanks for the great compliment! Holley is definitely an outstanding carb, and I've actually been looking at some options to try. I'm pretty fluent in Edelbrock dialing, so decided to stick with the 1405. She's running pretty spot-on after just a couple spring/rod/jet adjustments.
As for selling, I'm not quite there, but I have been flirting with the idea just to free up some funds for some home remodeling.
Thanks again, and thanks for watching!

@@JJackMoto ok, impeccable, I like super 40 and when you are inside the car, you can hear the noise of the pots a lot or not?
You would have to come to Martinique with the mustang. For my part, we repair American cars.
      Very beautiful sound.

@@washida972 Martinique looks beautiful, I would love to visit one day.
It is quite loud inside the cabin, but I also have long tube headers and 2.5” h pipe, so it’s a pretty open system.
I sold the Mustang around a month ago, but I’ll always love that car.

    Thanks

These are Achilles ATR Sport 2. They are a budget tire, but pretty good value.

You might want to upgrade to a relay wiring harness for your headlights. I did on my 67 and I love it. Much brighter headlights. Then I ended up switching to LED headlights
