- This is the 2002 Toyota Alphard! With a 3.0L 1MZ-FE V6 under the hood and AWD, this JDM VIP luxury minivan is without a doubt one of the most unique vehicles we've ever driven. We are lucky enough to get behind the wheel of this particular model that has been spec'd with quite possibly the most amount of modern features i've ever seen on a JDM car, especially one that is 15 years old. It features swivel chairs in the back, a TV, cameras on the bumper, lane departure warning, suspension settings, and much more. We hope you guys enjoy this quick look into a vehicle that certainly does not blend in on North American roads!
*Correction* The V6 in this Alphard produces 220 HP and 230 ft/lbs of torque.

Roads Untraveled greetings.. check out the vellfire..
jonathan david I was going to suggest this, weird looking van. But it makes this Alphard look like an Odyssey. They have awesome seats in the back, search “Vellfire Executive”.
Also, there are plenty of Alphards in NZ. A mate has one for his family runabout, like a nice minivan, fetch around 8,000nzd.
Roads Untraveled we have tons of these vehicles on our roads in Saint lucia from japan if you think this alphard is cool you should check out or google the Toyota Velfire it is the more VIP version of the alphard you will certainly LOVE its JDM goodness. You can check out the Toyota voxy or Noah. All of these are mini vans
Growing up as a Filipino in Indonesia before moving to Canada, every rich person either had this or the Land Cruiser
hell yeahhh
As someone whos parent is Indonesian, i can confirm this.
A lot of people don't realize it, but this is a perfect intro JDM vehicle. It's a Toyota parts bin vehicle. My 06 has the 2az-fe, awd, and almost every mechanical part is available in Canada. The brakes/suspension is from a Sienna, AWD from a Rav4, engine from a Camry. Perfect for a DIYer, since you can easily get parts from most places.
In Indonesia if you have one of these. you are rich AF.
other than being a status car, it genuinely is comfortable & is a great family and corporate car
The 1st generation Alphard became cheap, so you can pick them up for the price of a 2nd hand Honda CRVor jazz
my mom used to own one and I'm Malaysian :3
Hi from Canada, I married an Indonesian woman. I love your country!
If you have a new one, yeah.
These things are status symbols in China, costs more than 200k CAD over there. It’s the standard rich businessman mobile along with the Range Rover
Same like in Malaysia, a full spec Alphard cost bout RM550k (190k in CAD)
In Malaysia and Brunei, Alphards are common
Danial Mahdi yup
In Indonesia aswell
Literally everywhere man. Even the latest models are available
Danial Mahdi in indonesia too but a little bit rare cuz its expensive it costs almost 1billion rupiah (the used ones)
That's cool that you did a minivan review! Much love from the US
I always love the production value you guys put into your videos.
Unique car for sure. Keep up the great work, and awesome content. 👌👌
Lol here in New Zealand you literally see them everywhere
In New Zealand, I saw heaps of Previas & Estimas
I'm from Myanmar and an Alphard is like.. a flex. cause the tax is just.. so expensive
@@reallynotmuffin same here in indonesia
Dude here in Indonesia Alphard is for the excecutive class of Taxis and many Alphard also using air suspension
Selamat Malam bro
Love it!!!!! Perfect for ROAD TRIPS!!!!! Reminds me of my Sienna XLE!!!!! We went to the Grand Canyon in and Sonoita. Toyota also had the awesome Previa too. These vans are pimp 😎 👍💪✌👏 loving it!!!!!
I believe there was an even more luxurious version of this which had captain seats for the second row, and a sunroof.
Sooooo sick! much love from your Vancouver compadre
Seen plenty of these in South East Asia
Yeah, it's an ideal car for businessmen and politicians at South East Asia (I'm Malaysian)
I live in Jamaica so I see them everyday
Best review to date. Love it
I never thought i would come to like minivans, until my dad bought one of these. 2018 Alphard Executive Lounge V6, it is truly an amazing car. Exceptional comfort and is as refined as a Mercedes S-Class. People tend to judge this car for being so boxy and ugly, but they never know how amazing it is to ride in one. Not to mention how quick it is with the V6. 7.2 secs to 100kmh. No surprise why these are all over Asia
That thing is pretty cool!! The perfect family van. 👌
I have a white 2002. It's everything Marcus says. No coil overs or aftermarket exhaust on mine and the adjustable suspension is awesome. Seats also lay totally flat too. Love the in dash CD/DVD/MD/Nav and backup camera.
Dvd player is that in dash? I thought it was a separate unit usually in glove compartment.
Next up to review, the nemesis of Alphard, Nissan ELGRAND
I've heard of the alphard. If you spend as much time as I do on tradecarview at work, you would know too. That thing has a sick, very intimidating grille! Almost like a semi truck! And the newer ones? Man! Those look like something made specifically to turn up in, at an anime convention!
I just bought an alphard 3.5 petrol ,I loved so much ❤
These thing are very common in Indonesia, and known as rich symbol here. Usually parked along with benz, range rover or even porches in their house.
This minivan and its brother, Toyota Vellfire, is very popular in South East Asia. You will see these a lot when you're in South East Asia.
We have 3 imports all toyota, loved our Granvia bit the Alphard is more refined, starting to take off in the UK, vw transporter camper alternative for sure, very reliable, exceptional build quality, well it is a Toyota after all!
We got same minivan bro
Mine was pearl white luxury color in it
I agree to you that it is catchy eye car for people and looks awesome so take care on it
Awesome vid. I Listen to the podcast too love when you review the jdm weirdos... lol
These are dope vans, such a comfy ride.
That'd be great for road trips with friends.
I have a Toyota Estima (Previa in some countries).
You could say it's a mom's JDM machine.
Kinda have the same specs as the Alphard.
My country has tons of them lying around in dealerships, but they're pricey.
TRD supercharger kit needed
Not possible
hell yeah..350hp coming your way with only 0.7 bar boost.
Alphard is literally the most common luxury vehicle in southeast asia haha😂.Nice video tho👍
It's equivalent of cadillac escalade in south east asia, except it's a minivan
Never heard of this car before ! That's interesting
In where I am living, Alphards are everywhere......
sat in one (2004 model) a few times and really like it. Its easier to get in and out compare to the toyota sienna. Has much more head room. Though Im more interest in the Honda Stepwgn. Install some modellista body kit on it XD
Just put a deposit on one in the uk. I'm so excited
Fucking sick dude.
When I went to Hong Kong for missions trip last year, these Toyota vans were literally everywhere, they even have Lexus vans there haha. Pretty quirky
"You can plug in a rice cooker or a microwave" best quote I've heard on your show in a while XD
JDM in Merica...best of both worlds
How is it with spare parts, belts, service etc...is it readily available in these importing countries? I'm particularly keen to know if it makes sense to buy something with 60-100k miles on clock?
Hey Anyone no where I can get lowering springs for my alphard? Eibach told me they don’t list any for it. Was wanting to put pro kit it.
This thing is so quirky and cool. I fucking love shit like this. Good job Toyota and Roads Untraveled
so sick. BC represent!
very nice looking van
I see them every day. I've programmed a few keys for them. I own the smaller version called the Noah. Got a few friends that own them.
want a fucking cookie?
po jealous much....smh.
so it's basically a tall Toyota Camry with lots of neat little features.
be sweet to slap an Eaton supercharger on it
I live in Hong Kong, these are like super common, along with the new Previa as well. very luxurious and they got a lower tier trim called the Vielfire which is basically a Alphard but a bit more sporty i think.
Its the Boss Van. cheaper alternative to a Rolyce or a Bently but still not Cheap brand new. Costs as much as a S Class Brand new in Canada at least in HK...cuz we got stupid Tax
phloudernow shatty taxes
I own a very low mileage 2006 3.0i Alphard with all the extras ... Mine is whisper quite with a slight growl if I hit the gas hard. I'm using high spec 5w/30 synthetic oil and E5 fuel.
Runs like a dream.
What's the mileage on the vehicle you're driving?
Awesome van
Very nice van ❤
Thanks for the video! Anyone know what Canadian spec Toyota vehicle share parts with the Alphard? I know it's a Camry engine, but what about the AWD system and axles?
Rav4
My family got that facelift alphard and also the estima. Here in Malaysia, it shows the status of a person 🙃
it's wierd when you said that car is "Never Heard" because that car is very common in Indonesia😁😁😁. it's like a must have car for rich people in Indonesia.
Alphards make excellent campervans. Add a pop top, a rock n roll bed & a side (or rear) conversion & you're good to go
the logo on the front grille is a styled letter “a” as in Alphard
I need a JDM wagon or van as a daily!
There are a suprising number of these here in UK, many imported them from japan
Bruh, we get 2 sunroof down here in Asia. And captain seats in the 2nd row for the mid trim and up...and a 2.4 liter motor option for those "on the cheap"
we have tons of these Alphards here in south east asia, they're actually 35k-45k brand new and popular among rich families who wanted a luxury minivan lol, a status symbol too. Rich people in Indonesia usually bought the Toyota Alphard for family car, and the Toyota Harrier for daily use, and the Toyota Ist for school runs. Obviously they're pretty expensive compared to other cars in the same category.
It looks huge here! but it looks normal sized there in canada lol.
In indoenesia usaly alphards we're escorted by cops
Bro I bought a 2002 alphard in 2020 for 38k bangladesh is sooo expensive
Everybody have one here in Mozambique, very popular!
When are you going to upload the full feature video of the FC RX7?
Soon :) Hang in there, I know you can!!!
Hey roads untraveled.im the new onwer of this alphard.im wondering if u can help me out of it history.
Thanks in advance
This is a perfect bang bus, all that space and curtains for privacy
Nice car. Mines a vellfire 2009. in indonesia some people also use this car in the vid as an ambulance. Sadly cant import 1 to the USA...
It's a shame people don't appreciate cool Vans like these where I live, and would rather have a Mundane RAV4
If you think this is cool, then you should see the 2nd and 3rd generation Alphard & Vellfire, your mind would literally be blown.
I live here in Malaysia,We see this car like everyday lol
Again I have heard of these before, there’s a fair few in the uk
I saw plenty of those Alphards. Those things are all over Japan.
They’re everywhere here in the Philippines!
in southeast asia (im in malaysia), these things are really really really really common
I've always sorta been a van/wagon guy. I'd drive one of those. Probably cant get one in the US for another 5-10 years..
I drive these in Indonesia and they are the most comfy minivan in its class... smooth transmission and suspension... i think if they ever import it to the US, no one will ever buy any other minivan than these ones...
We've plenty here in Malaysia, mostly used by soccer mom and there's also a luxurious version called the vellfire
Alphard is actually the more luxurious option, Vellfire is the cheaper/sportier version of Alphard
@@mrchongyl correct
It's so odd, that it's actually pretty cool.
Dude I want one.
at last, alphard on BC. cool!
The front end and headlights look sort of like an escalade
sport mode in minivan :D haha
Now the latest alphard are avaliable with lhd version, if u albe import from mainland china and taiwan area
Your Toyota van ? How did you bring it to the USA
Those 1st gens are rear-drive. Trh drifting it boys
Nope. All fwd or 4wd. Elgrands are rwd
That thing is sick. Is that what bow wow drove in Tokyo drift?
Captain Tsubasa 10 He had a VW Tourareg lol
I am waiting for 2nd generation this May...
Cool. But I can’t imagine why I’d ever want one.
We get these in Australia as grey imports l have seen a couple were l live in Sydney and l don't know how much the owner paid for this Alphard but in Australia you can pick up one for around aud $20000 also there are higher dpec models available and l saw a Toyota Alphard for a little under aud$100000 which had done only 10kms and these are the absulute King of people movers that's what I we call them in Australia
ok what size wheel and tyres please
You can install powerboot and extra powerdoor.
I have one it's nice
I've never wanted a minivan so bad before lol
How much did it cost?
If anyone has any info on how the dash works. Need to find out if dvd player plays in dash. Or is it a separate unit. ??
The DVD does play in dash, but the vehicle must be on P if I'm not mistaken
@@zakijamalullail on p?
@@motogirl27 Park, the transmission knob. Sorry for my terrible English
Next week - Toyota Alphard vs Nissan Elgrand track battle! :P
Cool
It's a manly van. Get lots of looks and compliments..
You suprise! 🤗
I spied a blue MR2... 😄
V. I. P. Imp
In Malaysia
...we got the Alphard, Vellfire, Elgrand and the Elysion..who have these means they have status.
We have tonnes of them in Malaysia
